Abstract

Nahdlatul Ulama is the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. The existence of Nahdlatul Ulama always unites itself with the struggle of the nation, placing NU and all its citizens to be active in the nation-building division towards a just and prosperous society that is blessed by Allah SWT. In North Sumatra, NU is one of the largest and most influential organizations for Muslims. NU with its Ahlussunnah Wal Jama'ah understanding, which is known as moderate, stands at the forefront and becomes a bulwark for the integrity of the nation by developing the notion of moderation. However, the fact is that the application of religious moderation is still a discourse for Islamic organizational institutions, especially Islamic institutions in the city of Medan, because until now there has been no real evidence of Islamic institutions implementing religious moderation. The questions in this research are; 1) What is the Existence of Nahdatul Ulama in Medan City?; 2) What is the potential of the Nahdlatul Ulama Institution in Strengthening the Values of Religious Moderation in Medan City?.This research method is qualitative, which the author uses is a religious phenomenological approach while the theory approach is interaction. The conclusion in this study is that the strengthening of religious moderation values of Nahdlatul Ulama in Medan City always displays two characters (wisdom and flexibility). For Medan City Nahdlatul Ulama, wisdom is an action that is conducive to obtaining benefits/avoiding harm, while flexibility is a compromising attitude and avoiding all forms of extremism. One of NU's national political ijtihad is the obligation to reduce or even avoid all forms of risk or bad consequences (fiqh rules: dar'ul mafasid muqaddamun ala jalbil mashalih). In addition, the potential of NU institutions in strengthening the values of religious moderation in Medan City which includes providing social assistance to all circles of society, helping each other among others is an activity in instilling the values of religious moderation. Implementation of the Values of Religious Moderation is recognizing the rights of others, respecting other people's beliefs, agreeing on differences, understanding each other.

This spiritual discourse does not intend to replace religion. The aim is to encourage a more harmonious public life, without eliminating the role of religion for life, preserving relevant elements in religion, discarding obsolete religious ways. In MABT, every problem is solved as a family. Second, MABM has the concept that if all ethnic religions run properly and correctly then there will be no clashes. to increase tolerance one must communicate frequently, through art, festivals, and mutual respect. while DAD is in maintaining harmony, namely coordinating, communicating across ethnicities and not acting on behalf of ethnicity and religion in solving problems. In addition to building harmony together, cultural movements are also a form of resilience between tribes, ethnicities, religions and even languages. One of the local cultures that cannot be separated from the customs of the people of Singkawang city is the installation and removal of decorations at the time of major celebrations.

The view of the non-Muslim (Christian) Simpang Semadam community regarding the drink khamar, namely palm wine, is a traditional drink which has good properties for the body and is not haram and is also not an unclean item and is permissible to drink as long as you don't get drunk because getting drunk is something that is prohibited by the Christian religion. . After researching, it turns out that different views regarding khamar and the like cannot be separated from religious, social and cultural influences which make it difficult to implement the qanun jinayat regarding khamar in Simpang Semadam Village. Abstract

Basically, men and women are intellectually, morally and sublimely equally noble. men and women alike have hopes and dreams. This is the basis for humans to compete in achieving something in life. However, until now, gender equality between men and women has not been completed. As well as the confusion and indecision that occurs in society regarding the substance of women's leadership in the sense of religious legality whether or not it is permissible for human nature as religious beings to become a benchmark in determining something as well as leadership for that. This research was conducted to find out the opinion of the Qur'an and the new covenant regarding women's leadership. And the purpose of this study is to find out the views and differences of the Qur'an and the New Testament on women's leadership The results of this study found that Islam has never turned behind women, it's just that women exist to be protected and loved, but in Islamic leadership it prioritizes men for several reasons. in her role as a woman that has been described in the Qur'an. Then in the new covenant men and women are equal in status and role rights, but this is still new, because in the previous book even considered women as seducers who were not allowed to lead in the church in the New Testament the essential element of leadership itself was service, So to lead is to serve and serve.

Abstract

Justice is something central, and to which society aspires greatly. Justice cannot be separated from the prevailing legal order. Society as implementers and observers of the legal order has benchmarks oriented to ethical values and morality that cause the legal order to be obeyed and even abandoned. In addition, social society is also governed by religious norms which are also the main reference in determining the good and bad of something. Each of the beliefs will teach its adherents to uphold the value of justice in life, both social life and state life. This paper tries to compare the concept of justice from Islam and Confucianism, therefore, this paper focuses on knowing what are the concepts of justice offered by Islam and Confucianism. With comparative literature study and analysis, as far as research on the concept of justice from Islam and Confucianism found several findings, including: Islam teaches the concepts of justice: trust, honesty and equality. Confucianism teaches the concepts: morality, honesty, love and public interest. At first glance, the concepts of justice offered by Islam and Confucianism almost all have something in common. But in addition, the striking difference from the concept offered by the two religions is related to the concept of amanah from Islam. This shows that Islam teaches everything based on science. Amanah in terms of language does mean trustworthy, but more deeply mandate requires a leader to have qualified knowledge. So that with his knowledge will give birth to love, honesty and equality.

Abstract

National stability is an important thing that must be maintained for the sustainability of society livehood. Social diversity often leads to polemics and riots that cause anxiety, but in fact not all diversity leads to hostility. The people of Punggur Kapuas Village place Tomas (community leaders) and Toga (religious leaders) as figures who can lead, adjudicate and maintain the harmony of a plural society. This qualitative research combines field research and library research approaches, and uses the narrative-analytic method to present the findings. Based on the analysis of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann's reality construct theory on the data obtained in the field, the five religions (Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, and Confucianism) in this village have their own roles in appreciating religious values and transforming them into social understanding. The results of this study are the stages taken in externalization, objectivation and internalization experienced by all elements of the village community. This shows evidence that the role and thoughts of Tomas and Toga have a significant impact in maintaining community interaction and maintaining harmony. This research has implications for the study of religions that show a harmonious village model in social interaction and moderate attitudes applied in community life.

Abstract

Religion has two main forces, namely as a factor of the power of unifying power (centripetal) and a factor of strength of divisive power (centrifugal). In a pluralist, multiethnic society, language and religion are presented as centripetal factors and also function as social control and motivators of development with a human dimension. Even religion also acts as an instrument of glue for the integrity of the nation. The critical function of religion is necessary not only to sensitize the mindset and behavior of individuals in society, but also to provide direction to development concepts and planning. Conflict theory arose as a reaction to the emergence of functional structural theory. Functional theory in sociology is one of the perspectives in sociology that views society as a system consisting of parts that are interrelated with one another. This theory views that society is static or in a balanced change, where each element of society has a role in maintaining stability. While conflict theory is a situation that everyone does not want because it harms material and nonmaterial. Marx and Weber categorically rejected the idea that society tends to lead to basic consensus or harmony, in which the ongoing structure of society works for the good of everyone. From these two things, it can be concluded that conflict is a social phenomenon that is present in social life, so conflict is inherent, meaning that conflict will always exist in every time and space, anywhere and anytime. In this view, society is an arena of conflict or an arena of conflict and integration that always takes place. Therefore, conflict and social integration are symptoms that always fill every social life, and the function and role of religion needs to be maintained in social and state life as the main force.
