Itolu community was purposely selected due to the preponderance of uncompleted occupied buildings in the area. Automated counting of digitized buildings in the study area resulted in 540 out of which 115 were found to be uncompleted inhabited through ground-truthing. Fifty (50%) of the one hundred and fifteen (115) identified uncompleted occupied buildings were sampled using systematic sampling techniques. The study revealed that majority of the sampled houses in the area lacks sanitation facilities. Similarly, it established an unsustainable method of waste disposal among the residents of the area. Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to examine the effects of conflict management styles (integrating, obliging, compromising, dominating, avoiding) on stakeholders’ relationship quality in construction projects of Pakistan. The study further examined the moderating role of task conflict as the gap identified the little research on the effectiveness of conflict handling styles in a high or low level of conflict. The study has considerable importance from a practical aspect as it guides the project managers to know the effective way of dealing with conflict in different situations and when arises. For this quantitative study, a survey was conducted in July 2021 in construction companies of Pakistan through paper and web-based questionnaires. The target sample for the study was 400 including both male and female internal stakeholders. The results of this study demonstrate the positive effects of two approaches integrating and obliging in most situations and the negative effect of other styles dominating and avoiding also supported. Whereas the study doesn’t support the positive effect of compromising as it could involve losing the benefits and interests of stakeholders in a project. Furthermore, the study has confirmed the moderating effect of task conflict on the relationship between integrating and stakeholders’ relationship quality and avoiding and stakeholders’ relationship quality. The study is limited by its cross-sectional data and the data was collected only from internal stakeholders so the feedback of the study was restricted to only one party of a project. For further research on a similar line, it has been recommended that future studies should be conducted by incorporating the longitudinal research design and the responses should also be recorded by involving both internal and external stakeholders of the project. Also, the study recommended examining the effect of different combinations of conflict management styles on relationship quality.

Abstract

The debates on why some countries remain underdeveloped have long captured the interest of scholars and researchers with large chunks of these countries populations are still in poverty. Yet with all the attention been paid to sustainable development, the role of microfinance banks is largely ignored. This research work investigated the possible nexus between microfinance banks and sustainable development in Nigeria. It covers the period of 28 years between 1992 and 2018. The secondary data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin (2018) was considered in the study. The study employed the Augmented Dickey-Fuller(ADF) Unit Root Test, Co-integration test, Granger Causality test, and multiple regression analysis with aids of ordinary least square method was considered for the empirical findings. It was revealed that there is a long-run relationship between microfinance banks and sustainable development with the test of Johansen co-integration. It was further revealed that there is a unidirectional relationship between MFBI and GDPPC, which means that microfinance banks' investment strongly influences gross domestic product per capita, which represents sustainable development. The study reveals that MFBI and MSP indicate a positive relationship but MFBI is not statistically significant while MSP does have a significant impact on sustainable development in Nigeria. MFBL, MPR, LTDR show a negative relationship and equally posited an insignificant effect on sustainable development in Nigeria. Based on these findings the study concluded that there is a positive relationship between microfinance banks and sustainable development. Therefore, the study recommends among others that monetary authority should strongly equip microfinance banks in Nigeria with the right policy and guidelines that will sustain their existence and, also government should provide enabling environment for them in the rural area to thrive
