Abstract

Introduction: hematoxylin Eosin is a common dye used in histology laboratory examination. One of the stages of hematoxylin staining of eosin is the process of deparafinization. Deparafinisasi is a process to remove or dissolve paraffin from tissue and perform a clearing process before being observed under a microscope so that maximum color absorption at the time of tissue staining and look clear. The deparafinisai process is usually done by using xylol to dissolve paraffin in the form of fat. Xylol is commonly used as an ingredient for clearing and deparafinization processes. Continuous use of xylol can cause toxicity to the body and health. Medical laboratory workers, especially histology officers in charge of tissue coloring have a dangerous risk of chemical, biological, mechanical and environmental hazards so that a safer and cheaper alternative to xylol is needed. Alternative use of xylol is done to minimize harm to health and the environment, among others, by finding a substitute for xylol. Some natural ingredients such as carrot oil, pine oil, rose oil and olive oil can be used instead of xylol. Carrots relatively do not contain sulfur elements, so they do not cause air pollution, and can also improve the efficiency of agricultural resource utilization. Purpose of the study: to utilize environmentally friendly carrot oil as a substitute for xylol in the deparafinization process. Method: the research design used is true experiment design. Samples of human breast tissue (mammae) to see the results of the examination using an alternative reagent carrot oil and xylol as a control. The examination data will be processed by descriptive analysis based on the results of the assessment score of tissue preparation. Result: hematoxylin eosin staining using xylol get very good results of 100% while using carrot oil get very good results of 87.5% in the process of deparafinization. Discussion: Carrot oil can be used as a substitute for xylol in the process of deparafinization.

Abstract

In recent years, attention to mental health has increased globally, with greater recognition of the importance of providing high-quality mental services. Ernaldi Bahar Hospital of South Sumatra Province is the only mental hospital in South Sumatra Province so that the services provided must be of high quality. Ernaldi Bahar Hospital psychiatric polyclinic is a polyclinic that provides health services for outpatients specialising in mental illness and psychiatry. In measuring the quality of health services provided, namely using the theory of Parasuraman et al (1990) with the dimensions of tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. Method: This research was analysed using descriptive statistical methods using the gap analysis-IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) method which is described in a Cartesian diagram. This research is descriptive with a quantitative approach, data collection techniques using questionnaires distributed to 100 patient companion respondents selected using accidental sampling techniques. Results: From the analysis of the respondents' assessment of the quality of health services, a percentage value of 83.62% was obtained in the good category, but there was still a gap between the perceptions and expectations of respondents regarding the quality of health services where the results showed that health services at the Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Mental Polyclinic had not been able to meet the expectations of service users because it had a negative gap value in all indicators. From the results of the quadrant I Cartesian diagram, it shows that several service indicators must be improved with a high priority and in quadrant III, although the priority is low, it still needs to be improved so that the quality of service can be better.

Abstract

Introduction: Fetal Doppler is used to monitor fetal heart rate (FHR) and prevent delayed diagnosis of critical conditions such as congenital heart disease (CHD). The inaccuracy of an uncalibrated device can have serious consequences. This study evaluated the accuracy of a prototype Fetal Doppler calibrator in measuring DJJ on several types of devices: calibrated, new, and uncalibrated. Methods: This observational study with an analytic approach was conducted at the Kartasura Health Center in March-June 2024. Six Fetal Doppler devices were tested, including one calibrated device, two new devices, and three uncalibrated devices. Measurement results were expressed in beats per minute (BPM) and analyzed using an independent t-test to test for differences between devices. Results: No significant differences were found between the prototype calibrator and the various devices tested (p > 0.05). However, the uncalibrated devices showed a higher level of result variability than the new and calibrated devices. Discussion: Higher variability in uncalibrated devices indicates the importance of periodic calibration to ensure consistency of DJJ measurements. These results are consistent with previous studies emphasizing that uncalibrated medical devices have the potential to decrease accuracy. The calibrator tested was able to provide accurate results, supporting its use in effectively monitoring fetal health. Conclusion: The prototype Fetal Doppler calibrator was able to provide accurate results on a variety of device types. The importance of routine calibration is emphasized to maintain monitoring quality and support early detection of CHD, which is crucial in improving the quality of maternal and child health services.

Abstract

Relapse in patients with schizophrenia is a complex mental health problem and is often influenced by various factors, including social support. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and relapse in patients with schizophrenia. This study uses a literature study approach using several selected sources such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, DOAJ and PubMed. Limited to the period 2013-2023 and from 20,700 GoogleScholar, 527 from DOAJ, 244 findings from PubMed. Furthermore, the literature was selected into 20 articles that met the inclusion criteria for the study. The results of this review are that positive emotional support from the family functions as a significant protective factor in preventing relapse. These findings emphasize the importance of psychosocial interventions involving families in supporting patients with schizophrenia, as well as the need for education for families to create an environment that supports recovery. Thus, strengthening social support networks and family involvement is essential to reduce the risk of relapse and improve the quality of life of patients.
