Abstract

Welding is the process of joining 2 metals using a heat process. Ship repair is a ship care and maintenance activity that is planned periodically in accordance with the requirements of the classification body. It is not uncommon for a shipbuilding industry to carry out replating procedures that do not comply with the regulations of the classification body. It is often found in the replating process that plate joints have angles of less than 90°. This research explores the effect of the cutting angle of ship hull plates on the stress distribution in welded joints of ship hull plates using the finite element method with Solidworks simulation software using ASTM A36 material, taking angles of 30°, 40°, 50°, 60°, 70°, 90°. Based on the test results using Solidworks, we can see that the minimum stress results are at a 30o angle variation with a value of 92.6 N/mm2, and the maximum value is at a 90o angle with a value of 281 N/mm2. With several variations of these angles, those that meet BKI standards are the 80o angle and the 90o angle, each of which has a yield strength value that meets the standards set by the classification. To ensure the safety and durability of the ship's plate, it is recommended that the plate be cut at an 80° or 90° angle. These corners not only meet BKI standards but also demonstrate a more stable and even stress distribution, reducing the risk of material failure.

Abstract

Wood is one type of basic material that is often used as the main material for conventional shipbuilding in Indonesia. However, the use of wood as a material for making wooden ships is more often than trees that are proven to be sturdy but are not yet at harvest age. Bamboo is a material that is quite flexible and strong as a basic material for making wooden boats in Indonesia. Bamboo laminate combined with wood material can affect the normal bending strength of wood. This research aims to determine the effect of the ratio of bamboo laminate as a stress barrier in wood on the bending strength of the combined laminate. The method used in this research is an experimental method of the number of ratios of betung bamboo laminate constituents to acacia wood using a bending machine test, from a ratio of 40% betung bamboo to 60% acacia wood, 50% betung bamboo to 50% acacia wood, and 60% betung bamboo. % with 40% acacia wood using JIS Z-2113 standards. In this research, the results obtained were that laminates with a ratio of 40% betung bamboo to 60% acacia wood had an average bending strength value of 321.04 kg/cm2 and an average elastic modulus of 22.32 kg/cm2. The bending strength of betung bamboo laminate with acacia wood increased at a ratio of 40% betung bamboo 60% wood and decreased at a ratio of 60% betung bamboo 40% wood. The highest bending strength value is in the laminate with a ratio of 40% betung bamboo 60% acacia wood.

Abstract

The largest fish potential in Indonesian waters is in the waters covering the Aru Sea, Arafuru Sea and Eastern Timor Sea. This is based on data from the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (January 2018), the potential fishery capability is 2,637,565 tons. With this potential, the amount that can be developed and utilized to be caught is 2,110,053 tons. This catch limit is a signal to continue to maintain fish stocks in these waters. In addition to this, these waters also have the most ship permit allocations with the number of ship permits granted by KKP totaling 1,368. Meanwhile, in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, the lowest potential fisheries are in the waters of the Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea, whose potential fisheries are 425,444 tons. However, 340,355 tons can be caught.

Abstract

The installation of underwater gas pipelines in Pemping Island, Batam City, Riau Islands, requires quantitative and qualitative study, which can ensure pipeline safety. This research identifies potential hazards along the installation route using pre-lay survey data from multibeam echosounder (MBES) and side scan sonar (SSS). The interpretation of these data using Geographic Information System (GIS) software identified potential hazards: extreme slopes, sediment types, sandwave areas, and underwater cable crossings. The study results showed that 30% of the total pipeline length crosses areas with extreme slopes (15 areas), 20% crosses areas with potential sediment-type hazards (12 areas), 11% crosses sandwaves areas (1 area), and 2% has the potential to cross underwater cables (1 area). In total, about 48% (±574.13 meters) of the pipeline route crosses areas with combined potential hazards, spread across 15 areas. This information is crucial in planning appropriate protection and mitigation for pipeline installation in the region. It is expected that the findings of this study will assist pipeline installers in anticipating hazards and minimizing potential losses caused by these factors by implementing commonly used pipeline protection methods based on the identified hazards, such as trenching, buckle arrestors, and concrete weight coating.

Abstract

The importance of the socio-economic dimension of the utilization of marine potential in an area, with the existence of various regulations and technological developments, both regarding the technology of marine potential utilization tools and technology to develop and preserve the Marine potential itself, so that it can be utilized as much as possible for Prosperity. Contribution to fill the gap with socio-economic assessment of the utilization of the maritime sector of Surabaya city can be done by several steps, namely creating a” framework " for the maritime economy, then collecting and classifying socio-economic indicators that are comparable to be reliable in the maritime world. The Data obtained will allow us to assess the size of the maritime sector of the city of Surabaya and its position in the maritime claster framework made by both the provincial and central governments, as well as discuss the suitability of the strategy to form a claster at the National vs. transnational level. The results show the difference between Central and local government policies, at least at the level of implementation, expanding knowledge about marine potential that will allow to design strategies that address the real issues of marine potential utilization policies so that they become effective.

Abstract

Most of the Central Tapanuli Regency area is on the coast, which is part of the Indian Ocean waters and has great potential in the fishing industry, especially marine fisheries. One of the fishing gears widely used by fishermen in Central Tapanuli is the gill net.  Although the amount of marine fisheries resources in Central Tapanuli is quite abundant, the catch of salam net fishermen often fluctuates, so fishing aids are needed to increase catches, one of the efforts made is using LACUBA. This research was conducted from February to April 2024 in Sibolga Bay, Central Tapanuli. This study used a completely randomised design (CRD), with the first 30 metres of gill net treatment with LACUBA and the remaining 30 metres without LACUBA treatment with a total net length of 60 metres. The results showed that the catch of gill nets using LACUBA influenced the catch, the total catch was 16,845 grams, without LACUBA 8,290 grams for 14 times. Gill nets with LACUBA can increase catches compared to without LACUBA, due to the addition of attractants to the net, so that fish including positive phototaxis will be caught in the net, besides that fish that are looking for prey are also caught because they want to prey on their food in the gill net area.

Abstract

Shipyards play a direct role in the development of maritime transportation in Indonesia. A shipyard is a special place equipped with facilities to support the process of building, repairing and maintaining ships. Scheduling is an important part of a new ship building project, apart from prioritizing a minimum budget and maximizing project quality. Careful project scheduling planning will support the achievement of production targets, both in quantity and quality. A shipyard in Surabaya must have its own innovation and advantages to face these challenges in order to compete with domestic and foreign shipbuilding companies. Therefore, work scheduling must be prepared using effective and efficient methods. In determining scheduling, there are several influencing factors, such as the number of workers, level of work difficulty, production facilities, and material availability. This research aims to optimize processing time planning for ship X's FBB block (rescheduling) based on various delay factors to obtain the fastest processing time for the production process. The results of accelerating critical activities using the PDM method with the alternative of additional labor are considered more efficient, where the actual duration can be accelerated by 35.6%.
