Abstract

Introduction Childbirth is a physiological process that involves significant pain, which in some cases can be extremely intense. The pain experienced during labor results from both physiological reflexes and varying psychological responses among mothers. This study aims to examine the factors associated with the intensity of labor pain during the first stage of labor at Puskesmas Malaka, Soppeng Regency. Method This study employs a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach to investigate the relationship between independent variables (maternal age, parity, and husband's support) and the dependent variable (labor pain intensity during the active phase of the first stage). The study involved a total sample of 33 participants, selected through a total sampling technique, in which the entire population was included in the sample. Result The results of this study indicate that the intensity of labor pain during the acceleration phase was 2.6, during the dilation phase was 3.8, and during the deceleration phase was 4.7. Statistical analysis of the relationship between maternal age and labor pain intensity showed a correlation coefficient of 0.090 and a probability value of 0.619. This indicates no significant relationship between maternal age and the intensity of labor pain in the first stage, which may be attributed to the subjective nature of labor pain influenced by various other factors. Statistical analysis of the relationship between parity and labor pain intensity revealed a correlation coefficient of (-)0.381 and a probability value of 0.028. This indicates a significant relationship between parity and the intensity of labor pain in the first stage. Primigravida mothers experience childbirth for the first time, leading to higher levels of anxiety, which may contribute to increased pain perception. Furthermore, statistical analysis showed a correlation coefficient of 0.368 and a probability value of 0.035, indicating a significant positive relationship between the husband's support and the intensity of labor pain in the first stage. The husband's role is crucial in maintaining the mother's psychological well-being during childbirth, helping her feel more relaxed and thereby reducing the perceived intensity of pain. Conclusion The results of this study indicate that the intensity of labor pain during the acceleration phase was 2.6, during the dilation phase was 3.8, and during the deceleration phase was 4.7. Statistical analysis of the relationship between maternal age and labor pain intensity showed a correlation coefficient. This indicates no significant relationship between maternal age and the intensity of labor pain in the first stage. Statistical analysis of the relationship between parity and labor pain intensity revealed a correlation coefficient. This indicates a significant relationship between parity and the intensity of labor pain in the first stage

Abstract

Introduction Pre-marital counseling is a health assessment conducted by healthcare professionals, such as midwives, before marriage to ensure proper planning and preparation for a healthy pregnancy. A lack of knowledge regarding reproductive health among prospective brides and grooms can lead to unplanned pregnancies and various pregnancy-related complications. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the implementation of pre-marital counseling and healthy pregnancy preparation at the UPTD Puskesmas Malaka, Soppeng Regency. The method of a univariate analysis was conducted, involving the examination of two variables simultaneously to assess the potential correlation between them. This research employed an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 39 prospective brides and grooms who received services at UPTD Puskesmas Malaka, Soppeng Regency. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the chi-square test. The result of the 26 individuals who received pre-marital counseling, 24 (61.5%) agreed with healthy pregnancy preparation, 2 (5.1%) were uncertain, and none (0%) disagreed. Among the 13 respondents who did not receive pre-marital counseling, 4 (10.3%) agreed with healthy pregnancy preparation, 7 (17.9%) were uncertain, and 2 (5.1%) disagreed. The p-value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between pre-marital counseling and healthy pregnancy preparation. The conclusion was a significant relationship exists between pre-marital counseling and healthy pregnancy preparation

Abstract

Introduction: Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents has become an increasingly concerning issue due to its negative impact on physical, psychological, and social health. Adolescents are in a transitional phase that makes them vulnerable to external influences, such as peer pressure, media exposure, and environmental factors. This study aims to identify various factors influencing premarital sexual behavior in adolescents. Method: The method used is a literature review, based on 10 relevant national and international articles published between 2020 and 2025, obtained through databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed. Result: Statistical findings from the reviewed articles revealed significant correlations (p < 0.05) and high odds ratios (e.g., OR=9.444 for peer influence, OR=47.07 for parental role, and OR=6.718 for religiosity). These findings indicate that adolescents who are exposed to negative peer environments, lack parental guidance, or have limited understanding of sexual health and religion are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior. Conclusion: Addressing premarital sexual behavior in adolescents requires a comprehensive preventive approach involving families, schools, government institutions, and media regulation to create a healthier developmental environment.

Abstract

Breast care during pregnancy is highly recommended. There are many benefits for both pregnant women and their babies. Breast care during pregnancy (trimester 3) increases the production of breast milk needed by newborns. Adequate breast milk maximizes the growth and development of babies and minimizes the occurrence of nutritional deficiencies in children. Because breast milk is the main source needed by babies until the first 6 months of birth. Breast care during pregnancy also minimizes breast swelling due to the presence of breast milk dams in the breasts, this occurs because of blockages in the nipples that are not cleaned and cause mastitis. In this study, a survey was conducted on patients at PMB Luluk Ester. In this study, socialization was also carried out on the importance of breast care during pregnancy. It is hoped that all ages of pregnant mothers can know about how to care for their breasts. From the results of the questionnaire, the p value was obtained as much as 0.000 (p> 0.05). So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between age and knowledge of breast care during pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: Early marriage remains a global problem requiring serious attention. In Indonesia, data shows that 8.16% of women marry at ages 10-15, with South Sumatra still above the national average. Low knowledge among adolescents about the impacts of early marriage requires effective educational interventions. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of audiovisual media and leaflet interventions in improving adolescent knowledge about early marriage at SMK Pelita Insani Prabumulih. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a Quasi Experimental Pre-Post Test With Control Group design. The study population was 100 respondents using total sampling technique. The intervention group was divided into two: audiovisual group (n=50) and leaflet group (n=50). Data were analyzed using Independent T-Test and Mann-Whitney Test. Results: Respondent characteristics showed the majority aged 17-18 years with predominant female gender. In the audiovisual group, the median knowledge score increased from 60 to 62, while in the leaflet group from 65 to 67. Statistical analysis showed significant differences (p<0.05) in both groups. Audiovisual media provided 6.4 times higher risk for knowledge improvement (95% CI: 2.376-4.610, p=0.000), while leaflet media provided 4.4 times higher risk (95% CI: 1.335-2.577, p=0.000). Conclusion: Both intervention media (audiovisual and leaflet) are effective in improving adolescent knowledge about early marriage with statistically significant differences. Audiovisual media shows higher effectiveness compared to leaflet media in improving adolescent knowledge about early marriage

Abstract

Introduction Anemia is a condition in which hemoglobin levels fall below 11 g/dL during the first and third trimesters, and below 10.5 g/dL in the second trimester. Anemia during pregnancy can reduce oxygen levels in both the mother and fetus. Pregnant women with mild anemia are at higher risk of preterm labor and delivering low birth weight infants. This study aimed to provide midwifery care through the administration of dragon fruit juice to improve hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia at UPT Ulaweng Public Health Center, Bone Regency. Method: This research employed a case study approach based on the client’s needs and within the scope of midwifery practice. The care was provided using the seven-step Varney midwifery management process and documented using the SOAP format. Result: The study results indicated that after fourteen days of care, the client experienced no more dizziness, consistently consumed dragon fruit juice every morning, maintained normal vital signs, and her hemoglobin level increased from 10 g% to 11.6 g% following the 14-day intervention. Conclusion: The care provided proceeded smoothly and effectively. All findings and interventions for Mrs. “R” were documented, with no discrepancies identified.

Abstract

Introduction Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (AKB) are still national health problems. Based on data from the Dumbo Raya Health Center in 2022–2024, there was an increase in AKI cases from 0 to 2 cases, and AKB from 5 to 11 cases, caused by IUFD, congenital disorders, diarrhea, and leaky heart. Comprehensive obstetric care aims to provide continuous services from pregnancy to birth control. Method This research method uses a descriptive method through a case study approach. The subject used in this study was Mrs. F.D, aged 24 years, who was accompanied from 30 weeks of gestation. Results During pregnancy, mothers complain of back pain and frequent urination, which is successfully overcome through education, light massage, warm compresses, and changes in fluid consumption patterns. Labor takes place through sectio caesarea due to macrosomy indications. During the postpartum period, SC wound monitoring, uterine involution, lochea, breastfeeding education, personal hygiene, and family planning counseling are carried out. The mother chooses to use MAL contraceptives and plans to use an IUD. Neonatal visits are carried out three times, the baby is in normal condition. Conclusion The results of care from pregnancy to postpartum show that services take place optimally, characterized by the absence of complications. This comprehensive midwifery care is expected to increase maternal awareness in implementing good health practices and support maternal and infant health as a whole and sustainable.
