Abstract

Continuous landfilling in the Pakusari Jember landfills will produce pollutants in the form of leachate which is very risky to pollute well water belonging to residents living near the Pakusari Jember landfills. This study aims to analyze the environmental health risks of lead pollution (Pb) in well water around the Pakusari Jember landfills. This research was a descriptive study with a research design using the Environmental Health Risk Analysis method. People sample in this study were 64 people who were respondents to calculate the risk of respondents exposed to lead (Pb). The well water sample were 23 wells. The concentration of lead (Pb) in the well water of the population was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), while the body weight, intake rate, exposure frequency, and duration of exposure were obtained from interviews with 64 respondents to calculate (I) lead (Pb) and the level of health risk (RQ). The results showed that the average value of lead concentration (Pb) in the resident well water around the Pakusari Jember landfills was 0.058 mg/L. The results of the calculation of the maximum risk level (RQ) in the population is 2, this indicates that lead exposure (Pb) has a risk of health problems because of the value of RQ>1. If the value of risk level (RQ)>1, risk management is needed . Keywords: risk analysis; lead (Pb); landfills

Abstract

Dental caries is a disease of the oral cavity caused by bacteria Streptococcus mutans. These diseases cause cavities thus damaging tissues of the teeth. One of the plants that have antibacterial activity is Mimosa pudicaFolium, which is known as one type of weed that spreads life. Active substance, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenes and glycosides. Prevention and appropriate treatment can affect the rate of healing of dental caries. One of the prevention is to maintain the cleanliness of your teeth and gums using a toothpaste. The aim of this study to create a gel toothpaste from ethyl aseatat extracts and fractions of ethanol extract of the leaves as well as comparing the Mimosa pudica antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. This research method made three formulations gel toothpaste with respective weight ratio of extracts and fractions are 5%, 10% and 15%. Gel toothpastes made tested antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans bacteria in vitro with the negative control is the solvent DMSO and a positive control ciprofloxacin 25 mg/disk. The medium used was media Muller Hinton Agar (MHA). The identification results showed that ethanol extract phytochemicals Mimosa pudica Folium contain flavonoids and tannins. While only a fraction of ethyl acetate contained flavonoids. The test results showed that the antibacterial activity of the negative control DMSO not provide a response to the bacteria Streptococcus mutans, where as the positive control ciprofloxacin give a strong response at a concentration of 25 µg / disk with a diameter of 25 mm inhibition zone. The test sample gel toothpaste from ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract putrimalu leaves the greatest response at 15% concentration of 150 mg/ml of 15.55 mm compared with a concentration of 5%, 10% and ethanol extract on all series of concentration. Abstract

Background: Inconveniences in pregnancy cause patological condition, labor complication and risky puerperial period which threatening mother and infant safety if it’s doesn’t handled properly, then cause mortality and morbidity to the mother. One of prevention effort to reduce number of pregnancy complication is family support or family role in early pregnancy complication detection. Still amount of husband or family who doesn’t provide access to health services and needs of the mother during pregnancy. This study is purposed to explain affect of family role in early detection towards pregnancy complication risk. Methods: This study used cross sectional research design. The sample was 80 pregnant mother and the family, selected using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was role of family in early detection (ANC assistance, labor planning, early complication detection, fundings, transportation providing) and dependent variable was number of pregnancy complication risk. Insrument used in this study were questionnaire and MCH-book. Data were analyzed using Chi Square test. Result: ANC assistance influenced number of complication with p-value of 0.005, labor planning didn’t influence number of complication with p-value of 0.313, early complication detection influenced complication with p-value of 0.023, funding didn’t influence complication with p-value of 0.864 and transportation didn’t influence complication with p-value of 0.864. Conclusion: Role of husband in ANC assistance and early complication detection ifluence number of pregnancy complication risk, if husband did the role in ANC assistance and early detection well so pregnancy complication would not occurs. Role of husband in labor planning, funding and transportation doesn’t influence number of pregnancy complication risk. Pregnant mothers are expected can involve husband and the family in antenatal care process so pregnancy complication risk could be detected earlier. Earlier detection can help reducing further pregnancy complication. Keywords: role, family (husband), pregnancy complication
