Abstract

Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adakah peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah dilakukannya pembelajaran dengan model Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFE). Metode penelitian ini adalah semi eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 8 Takengon tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan terpilih siswa kelas XI Mipa-1 dengan jumlah 21 siswa dan kelas XI Mipa-2 dengan jumlah 20 siswa. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas dan uji gain ternormalisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahawa : (1) Siswa dari kelas eksperimen dengan skor gain > 0.70 berjumlah 18 orang dengan kategori tinggi (90%) (2) Siswa dari kelas eksperimen dengan 0.30 < skor gain < 0.70 berjumlah 2 orang dengan kategori sedang (10%) (3) Siswa dari kelas eksperimen dengan skor gain < 0.30 berjumlah 0 orang atau tidak terdapat siswa yang memperoleh skor gain dibawah 0,30 dengan kategori rendah.

Abstract

Kawasan wisata Danau Lut Tawar Takengon merupakan Daerah Tujuan Wisata (DTW) unggulan yang ada di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Sebagai kawasan wisata unggulan yang selalu dikunjungi baik wisatawan lokal maupun mancanegara, maka pengelolaan kawasan wisata yang ada di sekitar danau juga harus ditingkatkan. Adanya pelibatan masyarakat dalam membangun kawasan wisata sangat diperlukan. Hal ini agar tercipta keterpaduan dan kerjasama antara masyarakat dan pemerintah daerah dalam membangun dan mengembangkan kawasan wisata yang ada di sekitar Danau Lut Tawar. Sebagai daerah yang memiliki lanscape perbukitan dan dikelilingi oleh hutan, maka pembangunan kawasan wisata yang ada juga harus memperhatikan potensi bencana yang setiap saat selalu mengancam. Untuk itu diperlukan pembangunan masyarakat yang sadar wisata dan sadar bencana dalam meningkatkan pengelolaan wisata di Danau Lut Tawar Takengon.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan mata kuliah bahasa Arab sebagai mata kuliah umum di STAIN GPA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 100 mahasiswa dan 6 dosen pengampu mata kuliah Bahasa Arab. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, pengamatan, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah secara umum Bahasa Arab sebagai mata kuliah umum di STAIN GPA tidak efektif karena kurangnya dukungan institusi dan dosen, tidak tersedianya kurikulum program yang jelas, dan rendahnya tingkat kepuasan kerja baik dosen maupun mahasiswa.

Abstract

In an educational world, communication is seen as a necessity,as education is a communication process. When communicating, the EFL students often face many obstacles that make them use communication strategies. However, in the same time, theyare required to use the appropriate strategies, as the use of communication strategies contribute to the development of their communicative competence.There are several factors affecting the use of communication strategies by the EFL learners,one of them is gender. Communication between men and women in the classroom is considered as cross-cultural which potentially causes communication breakdown. Pertaining to this problem, this study was conducted to provide answers about the types of communication strategies used by male and female students to overcome their communication problems, and revealing the reasons why they used the strategies. The investigation is based on Bailystock (1990) classification of communication strategies. The study employed a qualitative research design. The subjects were the students who enrolled in Speaking IVcourse of the English Department of STAIN Gajah Putih Takengon. The data were collected through communication tasks (oral presentations), observations, interviews and video recordings. The findings showed that the male and female subjects used L1-based and L2-based communication strategies. Male subjects used mostly the L1-based communication strategies, meanwhile the female subjects dominantly employed the L-2 based communication strategies.The findings also indicated that the male subjects used more L1-based strategiesto help them reaching the communication goal rather than the communicationeffectiveness. In contrast, female subjects dominantly used L2-based strategies to communicate effectively.To sum up, the subjects still used the strategies, which are not beneficial to the development of their communicative competence. Therefore, these findings finally leads to a suggestion thatthe teachers should consider introducing the appropriate communication strategies to make students communicate effectively by incorporating them in the teaching and learning through the classroom activities.

Abstract

This research study was aimed at developing extensive reading material for semester 2 students of Yogyakarta University of Technology. This research was a Research and Development study that included the steps of needs analysis, course grid design, product development, product validation, product revision, try-out, and study of the final product. This research developed ten units of extensive reading material. The extensive reading material was developed according to the needs analysis data. The need of semester 2 students of Yogyakarta University of Technology is to improve their reading skills. The appropriate extensive reading material are describe the language skills clearly, look nice, give a lot practice, give feedback and let the learners know how to complete the tasks, give examples and tell the learners how to learn best. The needs-related appropriate extensive reading material in terms of their components are: the goal of learning reading is to improve the students’ reading skills; the input presents interesting pictures and vocabulary list; the procedure presents interesting and enjoyable activities; the learners’ role is as the active reader; the teacher’s role is the feedback giver; and the setting is individual work. The needs-related arrangement of the components of appropriate extensive reading material in terms of their organisations are arranged into three stages, namely: introduction, exercises, and evaluation

Abstract

This research has found that the pattern of ranks employed across the level of texts reveal a gradual development; from simple to complex. Namely, in the level of morphology, it shows that the texts develop from limited into varieduse of derivational and inflectional morphemes. This is in line with clause level of analysis in which we find its significant progress from simple clause to clause complex. Furthermore, the analysis of written language in term ofgrammatical function is one of Systematic Functional Grammar (SFG) contribution in language education. It can be a tool used by teachersand educators in assessingstudents’ language competences, especially in regard with students’ syntactic control over language. It can be expected to be an application of assessment that can provide a fundamental overview on how the assessed texts progress and develop. Meanwhile, another implication to language teaching is that it can provide an important view that teachers can rely on when deciding what level of topic leaningsthat suit their students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe forms opression faced by Chinese women in the nineteenth century as reflected in te novel “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” written by Lisa See, then to find out the way of the Chinese women to minimize their secluded life. This study is carried out with descriptive research which is collected with documentary technique and used a documentary sheet as the instrument. The finding indicates about the idea of femininity aspect that describes in the oppression faced by Chinese women. This oppression derives into three forms of oppression; emotional oppression, physical oppression, and sexual oppression. The Chinese women try to obey the particular custom judge by the culture to construct the femininity aspect, but secretly they tru to find a way to minimize their secluded life through Nu Shu (secret writing) and having a baby boy. It is hoped that the result of this study will be useful to anyone who wants to study women life situation in a certain communities.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah siswa yang diajar dengan picture word inductive model memiliki keterampilan menulis teks deskriptif lebih baik dari pada siswa yang diajar dengan gambar biasa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eks5perimen semu; nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas VIII.1 dan VIII.2. Kelas VIII.1 merupakan kelas control yang diajar dengan menggunakan picture biasa sedangkan kelas VIII.2 merupakan kelas experimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan picture word inductive model. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian adalah tes menulis teks deskriptif. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan independent t-test. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang diajar dengan picture word inductive model mempunyai keterampilan menulis teks deskriptif lebih besar daripada siswa yang diajar dengan gambar biasa.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify and study the mursal (stopped) hadeeth (prophet tradition) in the mentioned chapter of the Musannaf, in order to know which of them can be raised to the level of Hasan lighairih (hadeeth whose final verdict is good because of support of its witnesses and follow-up), which is can be accepted. The study is done to both of their sanad (chain of transmitters ) and matn (the body text of hadeeth), using the theories of hadeeth science. This study was done by firstly, analyzing the conditions of their ruwat (narrators), then evaluating the shawahid (the same hadeeth that is narrated through the different chain as witnesses ) and mutaba'at (follow-ups). The research finds that most of the narrators of those hadeeths mursal are thiqah (trustworthy ), and all of four mursal hadeeths are acceptable, for they can be raised to the level of hasan lighairih. This finding supports the importance of the Musannaf as a sufficient encyclopedia of hadeeths and Islamic jurisprudence for one who seeks the verification of Islamic law, though it does not have the standard that all the hadeeths it contains must be shahih (sound), but the weak hadeeths in it are potential to be upgraded to the accepted level.

Abstract

Communication is the most important thing in human life. It was given to construct the best interaction between people. From the initial observation, most students have difficulties in understanding what they have listened to. The purpose of this research is to find out the most difficulties faced by students at second-semester unit B English department STAIN Gajah Putih Takengon academic year of 2017/2018. The methodology is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The techniques of collecting data are observation, test, interview, and documentation. Eventually, in finding describe some difficulties faced by the students in understanding the speech. The students do not gain satisfactory scores, low motivation in listening, lacked vocabularies and grammar obstacles. Most of all, the most difficulties is the speed. Students felt easier when listen to the slower speech rather than normal or faster speed. It is due to pronunciation style and intonation.
