Abstract

PT VT is a company engaged in the cement industry, particularly in the distribution of bulk cement through the Jetty Department. To enhance operational efficiency, PT. VT aims to forecast the volume of bulk cement for the upcoming period and determine the most effective forecasting method to utilize. This study will employ three forecasting methods: Moving Average (MA), Weighted Moving Average (WMA), and Single Exponential Smoothing (SES). Historical data on bulk cement volume over the past 11 months were analyzed, and the accuracy of the forecasts was evaluated using Mean Squared Error (MSE). The analysis results indicate that the Moving Average method produced an MSE of 678,038, the Weighted Moving Average yielded 587,301, and the Single Exponential Smoothing resulted in 493,586. Based on these findings, the Single Exponential Smoothing method is identified as the best forecasting method due to its lowest error rate compared to the other methods. By implementing this method, PT. VT can enhance forecasting accuracy, optimize distribution schedules, and minimize operational risks such as overstock or stock shortages. Consistent application of this method is expected to support supply chain sustainability and improve the company's overall operational efficiency. Abstract

PT WXY, which operates in the cement industry, seeks to improve operational efficiency by forecasting demand for EzPro type bulk cement for the coming period. This study aims to determine the most effective forecasting method using two approaches, namely Moving Average and Single Exponential Smoothing, and analyzing historical data for 10 months using POM QM V5 software. The accuracy of the forecasting results is evaluated by Mean Squared Error (MSE). The results show that the Single Exponential Smoothing method has an MSE of 1,113,479,000, lower than the Moving Average method which reaches 1,721,099,000. Therefore, Single Exponential Smoothing is chosen as the best forecasting method to improve accuracy, optimize distribution schedules, and reduce operational risks such as excess or shortage of stock. Abstract

Distribution efficiency in the cement industry is a key factor that influences the sustainability of operations and company competitiveness. One critical aspect is managing distribution cycle time, which involves the process of loading cement from the factory to the ship. This research was conducted at PT. X to analyze cycle time optimization in cement distribution using discrete simulation methods. This research is the importance of reducing cycle time to avoid delivery delays which can result in fines (demurrage) and operational losses. The simulation results show that using one compressor requires an average of 108 minutes per trip, so that to complete 5 trips per trailer it takes a total of around 11.3 hours. While this duration still allows for the delivery target of 1,800 tons in 12 hours to be achieved, this approach leaves little room to overcome potential operational obstacles, such as technical glitches or delays, thereby increasing the risk of late fines. As a solution, the addition of one compressor has been proven to reduce loading time to 54 minutes per trip, reducing the total time for 5 trips to only 6.8 hours, providing significant efficiency and increasing operational reliability. This research concludes that adding a compressor can significantly reduce the risk of delays, increase efficiency and support the sustainability of company operations. Abstract

The waste from chicken feet is often overlooked and discarded, especially in the Banda Aceh area, due to low demand. This research aims to assess the economic feasibility of processing chicken feet waste into crackers using a Cost-Benefit Analysis approach. Data collection was conducted through interviews with chicken slaughterhouse owners and literature studies on the waste processing process and micro-business analysis. A quantitative approach was used by estimating fixed costs, variable costs, revenues, and simulating scenarios of changes in cost assumptions and selling prices. The results indicate that this business has a Benefit-Cost Ratio  (BCR) of 1.94, indicating economic feasibility. Sensitivity simulations show that the business remains profitable even if the selling price of crackers drops to Rp200,000/kg (BCR: 1.55) or if raw material costs increase by 10% (BCR: 1.84). With a total annual net profit reaching Rp18,160,000, this business has the potential to enhance the added value of previously worthless livestock waste. This study concludes that processing chicken feet waste into crackers is an economical solution that also supports sustainable waste management. The findings can serve as a reference for business actors and policymakers to develop waste-based innovations. Further research could focus on product diversification based on waste and business risk analysis. Keywords: Cost-Benefit Analysis, Chicken Foot Chips, Slaughterhouses

Abstract

In the era of globalization, industry and trade in Indonesia are experiencing fierce competition. Technological advances require qualified human resources from formal or non-formal educational institutions with supporting facilities. This research focuses mainly on solving the problem of the type A towel production process which often occurs in the accumulation of goods in the Finishing Warehouse using the Moving Average and Single Exponential Smoothing methods. Due to the current changing market demand, the results of data processing carried out using POM-QM software show that the forecasting method with the Single Exponential Smoothing approach has the lowest Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value among other methods, which is 32.637%, so this method was chosen in solving problems in the company because the smaller the error the smaller the possibility of bad things that will happen. Abstract

Optimal and maximal production is determined by three factors there is machines, raw material and human. PT AM is a weaving company which use Rapier 180 Loom machines in their process production. In the last five months, historically, the production of the Rapier 180 engine at PT. AM shows a comparison of the quality of grades A was decreased. So, it is necessary to measure the performance of the Rapier machine as an evaluation for the company to determine the next step. The observation method used is the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) which is a method to evaluate the magnitude of the performance and reliability of a machine. Several data are need for calculation about the Rapier 180 such as target production, actual production, product defects, target run hours, actual run hours, and stop hours. Based on OEE calculations, we find that the Rapier 180 machines in PT AM have a avaibility rate 96%, performance rate 96%, and Quality rate 57% base from that we find OEE of rapier is 52% and based on JIPM (Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance) the performance of the machine is classified as reasonable production but shows that there is still a lot of room for improvement. The factors that cause the OEE value of the Rapier 180 engine to only reach 52% are the lack of maintenance, lack of control and quality checks, and the environment around the machine. Abstract

Product quality has an important role in maintaining customer trust and the sustainability of the company. PT XYZ, which produces various types of animal feed, faces the problem of defects in pellet products, such as different feed size shapes, hot feed temperatures, and uneven feed colors. These defects not only affect production efficiency but can also reduce customer satisfaction. This research needs to be carried out so that PT XYZ can identify the cause of the defect and provide improvement proposals using the Six Sigma method through the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) stage with Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). The results showed that the main causes of defects were unstable engine condition, suboptimal cooling system, and dirty or worn engines, with the highest RPN values of 504, 210, and 448, respectively. The proposed improvements include standardization of engine settings, routine maintenance, and machine cleaning before use. The implementation of this recommendation is expected to improve product quality, reduce defects, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen the company's competitiveness. In addition, this research also provides continuous guidance for PT XYZ in managing a more standardized and quality production process to achieve a competitive advantage in the market.
