Abstract

PT. PSU Tanjung Kasau is one of the BUMD’s of North Sumatra Province in the agricultural sector. The product produced is Crude Palm Oil (CPO). CPO has quality parameters, namely free fatty acid (FFA) content, water content and dirt content. Based on data on the results of CPO production quality in January and February 2024, there are still several quality parameters that exceed the standards set by the company. Therefore, to determine the level of quality, factors that cause a decrease in the CPO level, and proposed improvements, research was carried out using the Six Sigma method with the stages of define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC). After processing, the CPO DPMO value was obtained of 676,451.85 with a sigma value of 1.04. Then using the Pareto diagram, it was obtained that the water content and free fatty acid content caused a decrease in CPO quality. Then based on the fishbone diagram, the human factor was obtained which was a lack of discipline, the material factor was bad qualityof TBS, and the machine factor was less than optimal machine performance and the method factor was not in accordance with the SOP. Proposed improvements to overcome the problems include conducting training and evaluation, increasing the supply of TBS and improving infrastructure, conducting regular monitoring and maintenance of machines, improving SOP’s and implementing SOP’s so that corporate governance can run well. Abstract

This study focuses on optimizing the distribution routes at Jaya Abadi Fruits using the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) method with a Saving Matrix approach. The primary issue is the manual route management that relies solely on the drivers' memory, leading to frequent wastage of travel distance, time, and operational costs. Moreover, the stochastic nature of customer demand complicates daily supply planning and results in suboptimal fulfillment of customer needs. This research utilizes primary data collected through direct observation and interviews to gain an accurate understanding of the distribution process. The Saving Matrix analysis is applied to identify optimal routes, reducing the travel distance from 109.4 km to 61.8 km (a savings of 43.51%), cutting travel time from 4.46 hours to 2.20 hours (a savings of 50.67%), and lowering distribution costs from IDR 279,400 to IDR 231,800 (a savings of 17.04%). Abstract

PT. MTUI is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of gas cylinders. One critical aspect of its operations is inventory management. PT MTUI faces challenges in managing the inventory of its main raw material, Steel Plate. Issues of stock shortages or surpluses frequently occur due to a suboptimal inventory control system, which can disrupt production flow and lead to delays in order fulfillment. To address this, an analysis was conducted using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method to determine the optimal procurement policy. The results show that the optimal order quantity for Steel Plate is 261.37 tons with an order frequency of 17 times per year. Additionally, a safety stock of 712 units and a reorder point of 1,226 tons were established. Financially, the previous procurement cost amounted to Rp5,331,083, while the EOQ method reduced the cost to Rp3,983,185. This resulted in savings of Rp1,347,898, demonstrating that EOQ implementation not only enhances inventory efficiency but also significantly reduces operational costs for PT. MTUI.
