Abstract

CV. SG is a company engaged in the distribution of bottled cooking oil, including the Minyakita product. However, an unstructured facility layout has led to various challenges, particularly in operational efficiency and material handling costs. Inefficient placement of goods and lack of attention to material movement distances have resulted in increased operational expenses and prolonged processing times. These inefficiencies can hinder productivity and add to the workload, especially in routine material handling activities involving frequent movement of goods. To address these issues, this study focuses on redesigning the warehouse layout with the primary objective of optimizing material movement distances and reducing material handling costs. The method employed in this research is quantitative analysis, which includes calculating transfer distances, movement frequency, material handling moments, and cost estimation. The findings indicate that the initial layout incurred a total material handling cost of IDR 2,860,000 per month, with a total movement distance of 300.80 meters. After the redesign, the proposed layout successfully reduced the movement distance to 241.17 meters, leading to a decrease in material handling costs to IDR 2,761,200 per month. Thus, the implementation of the new layout has proven to be more efficient in reducing costs and enhancing the effectiveness of material movement within the warehouse. Abstract

Catfish farming (Clarias sp.) is a potential aquaculture sector in Indonesia with high economic value and increasing market demand. However, the farming process faces challenges, such as fish mortality often caused by unequal fish sizes due to uneven feed distribution. This issue is also experienced by UD. Kurnia Tani, a small-medium enterprise in Magetan, which still employs a manual feeding system. This system triggers competition among fish, leading to economic losses and reduced survival rates. This study aims to design an automatic feeding device to improve feeding efficiency and productivity in catfish farming. The design results indicate that the device reduces the required workforce from two to one person and shortens feeding time from eight minutes to four minutes per pond. Additionally, the device increases work productivity by 50% and lowers the cost of production from IDR 17,760 to IDR 11,760. With an investment cost of IDR 2,640,000, the device has a payback period of two months. The automatic feeding device is expected to be an innovative solution to support more efficient and sustainable catfish farming. Abstract

Abhi Salted Eggs UMKM, located in Jombang Regency, produces salted eggs with a daily capacity of 850–1000 eggs from 1200 ducks. The production process, especially egg washing, faces significant challenges because it is still done manually. Problems that arise include long washing times, worker complaints due to exposure to soapy water, and egg damage rates reaching 7.14%–9.54%, causing losses of up to IDR 5,487,000 per month. To overcome these problems, an automatic egg washing tool was designed that can wash up to 20 eggs per cycle. Test results show that this tool is able to reduce the level of egg damage to 1% from 600 eggs tested, while increasing production capacity in the washing process. This innovation contributes to efficiency, reduced losses, and increased product hygiene, supporting the sustainability of Abhi Salted Eggs UMKM. Keywords: Egg Washer, QFD, Salted Eggs

Abstract

PT A is a state-owned maritime manufacturing company that produces ships. There are a number of workshops that support the production process, one of which is the HO & AO Welding Workshop. The problems that occur in the HO & AO Welding Workshop are 3 types of defects that are often found in Welding results in the form of Spatter, Undercut, and Pin hole. This study aims to improve quality and propose improvements that can be made to reduce defects in the HO & AO Welding workshop at PT. A. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out quality control with the Six Sigma method and New Seven Tools. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) analysis with the results obtained through testing the quality of Welding products resulted in 548 failure units, a DPMO value of 49289 and then converted to a sigma level of 3.15 which indicates that the sigma level is at the average of the Indonesian industry. It can be explained that the possibility of damage is 49289 for a million production. And the main defect-causing factors have been successfully identified through the application of New Seven Tools which include human, material, method, machine, and environmental factors. Therefore, PT. A is advised to implement improvement recommendations to reduce product defects. Keywords: Defect, New Seven Tools, Quality, Six Sigma, Welding

Abstract

In the modern industrial era, waste management becomes a crucial aspect that not only impacts the environment but also occupational safety and health (OSH) in the workplace. The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) area represents a critical zone that requires special attention regarding risk management and the potential hazards that may arise. The potential OSH hazards in the WWTP area include electric shock, poisoning, skin irritation, eye irritation, respiratory distress, and slipping. This study aims to explore the application of HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) as a tool for identifying, assessing, and managing risks in the WWTP area. The implementation of HAZOP is considered an effective strategy for reducing the potential OSH hazards in the WWTP area. HAZOP, which is one of the most widely recognized risk and safety analysis techniques, allows for the systematic identification of potential hazards as well as operational deviations that may occur in the wastewater treatment process. The findings of this study indicate that the level of OSH risk in the WWTP area is high at 55%, medium risk at 20%, and low risk at 25%. Keywords: HAZOP, OHS Hazard Potential, WWTP

Abstract

In the industrial world, material requirements planning is a very important foundation for smooth operations and business success so that production disruptions and increased costs can be avoided. PT. Petrokimia Gresik is the most complete fertilizer producer in Indonesia, one of which produces sulfuric acid. The problems experienced by PT. Petrokimia Gresik Produksi IIIA, namely Sulfuric Acid production, has been temporarily stopped due to excess product stock in the distribution line. Therefore, the aim of this research is to carry out product inventory planning by determining the quantity and when orders can be placed so that over stock and inventory costs can be minimized. To solve this problem, the Material Requirement Planning method is used using the lotting technique. Based on the research results, it was found that the MRP method should be applied in companies with lot sizing Economic Order Quantity because it has the smallest total ordering and inventory costs. It was found that the total order for sulfuric acid using the economic order quantity was 1,390,000 tons, which resulted in a difference of 54,534.06 tons of sulfuric acid from the company's total orders and by applying the economic order quantity the company would save inventory costs of IDR 3,697,073,366.00.
