Abstract

Gender inequality occurs in the form of marginalization, subordination, stereotype, violence, and double burden happened in every social institution, one of which is the DEMA Faculty at IAIN Bukittinggi. The difference in gender roles between male students and female students in various Faculty DEMA activities in the IAIN Bukittinggi environment causes inequality in gender relations, due to the limited space owned by female students. Meanwhile, the sexist division of labor is based on gender, where male students play a role in broader activities, and female students are only tasked with taking care of correspondence and finances within the organization. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation, the analysis used is Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. For the data obtained to be accurate, data validity techniques were carried out by extending observations, increasing persistence, and triangulation. The results of the study can be described that the conditions that occur in the Faculty DEMA in the IAIN Bukittinggi environment place male students as superiority and female students as inferiority so that it is very detrimental to the position of female students in the policymaking process at the Faculty DEMA in the IAIN Bukittinggi environment. Which results in inequality in gender relations, because of the understanding that men must be in the top position in policymaking. The form of inequality in gender relations that occurs in DEMA Faculties in the IAIN Bukittinggi environment, such as marginalization, stereotypes, and subordination. Strongly rooted in a patriarchal culture that always puts men as the central figure in gender relations, so that female students are always the second class and get less professional treatment in organizational reality and the weak pattern of gender relations in DEMA Faculty in IAIN Bukittinggi, and less open in the context of the relationship between the two, also affects the effectiveness of the organization.

Abstract

The 'hijrah' movement in Indonesian society has grown in recent years. This phenomenon is then used to campaign for various matters related to religious issues with various interests. The problem is that these campaigns under the guise of religion are often discriminatory for women. By imposing the logic of the social construction of gender as a 'gifted', people use hijrah to restrict the role of women in public space. Ironically, media industries in Indonesia also provide a space for those campaigns. Regarding this case, few mainstream media have generated counter-discourse. Criticism of this phenomenon is found sporadically in "alternative" media, such as Mubadalah.id. Based on this fact, this research tries to describe how Mubadalah.id raises a discourse against women's marginalization in Islam. By using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis, the researcher analyzed discourse through three levels: text, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The results depict that Mubadalah.id represents a form of marginalization as a discourse that is contrary to gender equality in Islam. Mubadalah.id wants to show that women have the right to pursue the highest education and have a career. On the other hand, the media also provide a counter-discourse that domestic work is the responsibility of women and men.

Abstract

The differences of marriage standarization between parents and children, is one of the reasons for the child's rejection of the wishes of his parents. Often times the rejection that occurs in children against the wishes of their parents is the result of a mismatch between the wishes of their parents and the wishes of a child, therefore, the author wants to examine how and what forms of rejection of children against the wishes of their parents who want to marry them immediately and what impact it will have. to harmony in the family. This article using Anthony Giddens' agency theory, for Giddens actors and structures cannot be separated, but are interrelated between actors and structure. According to Giddens, the relationship is a duality (reciprocity), not a relationship of dualism (opposition). Search data in this study is using field observations and direct interviews with informants. In the study, it was found that the form of rejection of a child against the wishes of parents who want to get married immediately turned out to be quite diverse, ranging from the desire to find work as an excuse to avoid communication with parents, for example away from home such as looking for work, who are still students, have reasons to stay at the pesantren, until the reason for their desire to continue their studies, are some of their efforts to avoid pressure from their parents to marry them off. The rejection by a child against the wishes of parents, in fact also has an impact on harmony in the family itself, how there are differences in desires between children and parents and the choice of children who choose to build distance with their parents, is a measure of the cause of the lack of harmony. relationships in the family.

This paper show that there are divided subjectivities in women’s responses to the Islamist preacher. At the group (majelis) level, especially at Al Husna, there is a potential for expansion of the Islamist movement which was proven by their support for Islamist propagations delivered by the preacher. Da'wah Squad and Humaira show a different response in limiting Islamism by creating their own assemblies curriculum, which is more inclusive. However, at the individual level, some administrators and congregations of the three Majelis have shown their potential for narrowing the Islamist movement with different variations. This research contributes in presenting the emergence of new Muslim women's actors as part of the women's piety movement within the context of emerging Islamism in Surakarta.

Abstract

The marriage agreement is a tradition or custom of the ancestral Dayak tribe in marriage which until now has been maintained and preserved. If one of the parties has behavior that can damage household harmony and violates the agreement, the agreed sanctions will be imposed. With this marriage agreement, it will become a buffer for domestic life, especially to act arbitrarily for men. The urgency of a tradition and how the context of this marriage agreement as gender justice in husband-wife relations is interesting to study. This study focuses on analyzing the customary marriage agreement of the Dayak tribe from the perspective of Asy-Syāțibi. Furthermore, this customary agreement is reviewed on the concept of gender justice through the Qirā’ah Mubādalah approach. The data collected is qualitative with the type of library research. Viewed from the perspective of ash-Syatibi customs, the customary marriage agreement is included in al-’Aw āid al-Jāriyah baina an-nās, namely the habits that apply in the community that gets legitimacy from the syāri’ as long as it is not out of the teachings of Islam, namely the creation of benefit. In terms of gender justice, marriage agreements can accommodate the equality of rights and obligations of husband and wife, especially women's rights which are often negated by the arbitrariness of men in controlling them. All actions that can make the household far from happiness, extinguish the feeling of love and affection can be avoided by the existence of an agreement.
