Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of students' understanding of mathematics, especially on cubes and blocks. This study aims to determine the level of students' mathematical understanding by using the help of technology-based learning media, namely Macromedia Flash. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in three cycles. The subjects in this study were class VIII/5 SMP Negeri 3 Langsa, totaling 30 students, while the object of this research was students' mathematical understanding using Macromedia flash. The instruments used in this study were tests, observations and interviews. The data were analyzed using the percentage formula. The results showed that there was an increase in the level of classical student learning outcomes in the first cycle amounted to 57%, and in the second cycle increased to 67%, and in the third cycle increased to 83%. The author analyzed the results of the cycle test to determine the level of students' mathematical understanding with the level of mathematical understanding in the first cycle 57%, in the second cycle 67%, in the third cycle 83%. From the percentage results above, it shows that each cycle there is an increase in the mathematical understanding of the students of class VIII/5 SMP Negeri 3 Langsa, especially on cubes and blocks. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of Macromedia Flash can improve the mathematical understanding of class VIII/5 students of SMP Negeri 3 Langsa.

Abstract

Students need to have critical thinking skills to find solutions to personal or social problems in their lives. Critical thinking ability is the ability to process to solve problems in the best way according to existing experience and facts. This research is descriptive qualitative research with the aim of describing students' ability to think critically through the tic-tac-log learning game. The research subjects were students of class X MIPA 2 on of the high schools in Bandung Regency in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 31 students. The critical thinking ability instrument was developed from the critical thinking ability of Facione. The instrument is in the form of 3 questions describing critical thinking skills on logarithmic material, each question consisting of aspects of interpretation, analysis, and evaluation. The analysis was carried out on students' answers and categorized into 5 categories, namely very high, high, moderate, low, and very low. The results showed that the students' critical thinking ability was high.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking ability of students in the mathematics learning process. One alternative learning that can be applied to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills is the example non-examples method. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the teaching module, the effectiveness of the design of the teaching module, the practicality of the design of the teaching module, and to increase the response after using the example non examples method. The approach used in the research is a quantitative and qualitative approach. The method used in this research is the Design-Based-Research (DBR) development research method. The research subjects were all students of class VIII MTs Nur Rohmah Bandung City. The data collection instruments used consisted of formative tests, questionnaires, observation sheets, and teaching modules. In this study, quantitative and qualitative data were obtained. Quantitative data was obtained from the results of formative tests, while qualitative data was obtained from the results of observation sheets, questionnaires and teaching modules. The data analysis technique is done by looking at the average and percentage of the data. The results of the analysis concluded that the example non examples method had a positive impact on increasing students' mathematical critical thinking skills. In addition, students give a positive response to learning mathematics by using the method of non-examples.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical critical thinking skills with the Big Five personality types, namely Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. This research is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Data collection technique used in this research is a Big Five personality type questionnaire and a written test. The research subjects consisted of 10 students who were selected from 29 students with purposive sampling technique. Questionnaire analysis data representing personality types were calculated to determine the dominant personality type in students, after that a mathematical critical thinking ability test was carried out on 10 students to be analyzed as data for classifying students' mathematical critical thinking ability levels analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results obtained are as follows: (1)The critical thinking ability of students with the Openness personality type meets the characteristics of high critical thinking abilities. (2)The critical thinking ability of students with Conscientiousness personality type meets the characteristics of a very high critical thinking ability level. (3)The critical thinking ability of students with Extraversion personality type meets the characteristics of a high level of critical thinking ability. (4)The critical thinking ability of students with Agreeableness personality type meets the characteristics of a high level of critical thinking ability. (5)The critical thinking ability of students with the Neuroticism personality type meets the characteristics of a moderate level of critical thinking ability. (6)The type of personality with the characteristics of very high critical thinking skills in learning mathematics is the Conscientiousness personality type

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using Zoom Meeting media and Whatsapp on student learning outcomes and motivation and its impact on learning motivation of class X Madrasah Aliyah Sirnamiskin students in Bandung. The type of approach used in this research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method and the research design is Nonequivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control-Group Design. The subjects in this study were students of class X-MIPA 1 as the experimental class and class X-MIPA 2 as the control class. The instruments used in this study were a description test to measure learning outcomes and a questionnaire to measure student motivation. The data analysis technique in this study used quantitative analysis in the form of statistical descriptive test, normality test, homogeneity test, and mean difference test. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the learning outcomes of students who use Zoom Meeting media are better than students who only use WhatsApp groups. This can be seen from the data values ​​obtained are normally distributed and the average value obtained in the experimental class 74.47 greater than the control class 68.42. In other words, the use of Zoom meeting media is more effective on learning outcomes and student motivation of mathematics students compared to using WhatsApp Group. In addition, it is also known that students' learning motivation after using the Zoom Meeting media is in the fairly high category with a score of 58.26. Abstract

Komunikasi matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap peserta didik. Namun pada kenyataannya kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik masih belum bisa dikatakan baik. Salah satu yang menjadi faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik adalah kecemasan matematis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecemasan matematis dan komunikasi matematis peserta didik kelas XI Man 2 Langsa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian korelasional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI Man 2 Langsa dan sampelnya adalah 35 orang peserta didik dari jumlah 60 peserta didik kelas XI Man 2 Langsa. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket kecemasan matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan matematis memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Hal ini diketahui dari nilai r = -0,381 dan p= 0,020 < 0,05, artinya terdapat hubungan signifikan yang negatif antara kecemasan matematis dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Semakin tinggi kecemasan matematis peserta didik maka semakin rendah kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik, begitu pula sebaliknya semakin rendah kecemasan matematis peserta didik maka semakin tinggi kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: 1) the effectiveness of the Mandailing culture-based Student Activity Sheet developed on students' mathematical reasoning abilities; 2) improving students' mathematical reasoning skills using the developed Student Activity Sheet. This research is a development research using the Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel learning device development model, namely the 4-D Model which consists of four stages, namely the define, design, develop and disseminate stages. In general, the research process was carried out in two stages, namely the first stage of developing the Mandailing culture-based Student Activity Sheet using the 4-D development model, and the second stage testing the developed Student Activity Sheet. The subjects in this study were students of class XI SMK Sandhy Putra 2 Medan, while the object in this study was the Student Activity Sheet (LAS) based on Mandailing culture on transformation material. in terms of: a) classical completeness; b) achievement of learning objectives; and c) the achievement of learning time, and 2) the improvement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities by using the culture-based Student Activity Sheet that was developed

Abstract

This study aims to reanalyze the GeoGebra-assisted mathematics learning in improving students' High Order Thinking Skills. In addition, this article also discusses the ability of teachers and students with HOTS abilities to learn mathematics without the help of GeoGebra. GeoGebra is used to help teach and learn mathematics to make it easier for students to understand and construct the material. The method used in this research is meta-synthesis as a qualitative systematic review by analyzing ten journals relevant to the research title. The first step is to formulate the research problem, then proceed with tracing the existing studies that are relevant to the research title which will then be analyzed in depth. The data collection technique used non-test by reviewing previous research with similar problems to obtain results and conclusions. The journals analyzed in this study were ten nationally accredited journals that discussed GeoGebra-assisted mathematics learning and HOTS. The results of the analysis of ten related journals concluded that GeoGebra-supported math learning can improve the skills of HOTS students. Teachers must improve their understanding of HOTS and the need for training in designing lesson plans and making HOTS questions for teachers and students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT In this century, the conventional learning process in the classroom has lost its appeal. This happens because some students believe that with the increasing availability of technology, the process can be carried out online (e-learning). In order to adapt to technological developments without having to abandon face-to-face learning, there must be a strategy for implementing learning, delivering teaching and the right quality of teaching, namely blended learning. Blended learning is a learning model that combines the advantages of face-to-face learning and e-learning. Through blended learning, interaction and communication between students and teachers can be run in two directions, to support blended learning it is necessary to have a supportive online media and one of the online media for mathematics learning is the alef platform from the Alef Education company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This platform can be used by Indonesian students thanks to the Cooperation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia with the government of the United Arab Emirates. The Alef platform can be combined with a blended learning model because it can be used face-to-face and also online (e-Learning). The purpose of writing this study article is to find out how to apply the blended learning model with the Alef Education platform. The method used is a descriptive method with studies that link studies from various literature. In the end, it is hoped that this study can be used in the development of mathematics learning.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence contributes to learning. Because it has implications for the achievement of learning outcomes. Emotional intelligence is in the form of student’s ability to understand their own emotions, manage their emotions, empathy for others, self-motivation, and relationships with others in learning mathematics. The low learning outcomes prompted researchers to make observations and find an answer that besides intellectually intelligent that are other factors that students must have when learning there are other factors that students must have when learning mathematics, namely emotional intelligence. The research objective was to determine students' emotional intelligence in learning mathematics. This research includes descriptive research. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII-1 MTsN 9 East Aceh in the academic year 2022/2023 with a total of 28 students. The instrument used in this is a research questionnaire containing statements about emotional intelligence which consist of 5 indicators, namely understanding one’s emotions, managing one’s emotions, empathy, self-motivation, and relationship with others. The emotional intelligence questionnaire consists of 20 statements. it can be concluded that the emotional intelligence in mathematic learning accumulated by 76.7% is in very good criteria. In percentage terms, it can be described that the indicator for recognizing a student’s emotions is 72.8% with good criteria, managing a student’s emotions is 74.6%with good criteria, motivating student 78.2% with very good criteria, student’s empathy for others is 80.3% with very good criteria, and student’s relationships with the other people of 77.5% with good criteria.
