Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategy to increase corn production and marketing Sampling was done by simple random sampling using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 15 percent. The sample size is 30 farmers in West Oirata Village and 30 farmers in Nomaha Village. The sample of traders was taken using the tracing sampling method which in the end the large sample of traders was 2 people. Data analysis to answer the first objective is the Cobb-Douglass production function, the second objective is analyzed using margin share, and the third objective is analyzed using SWOT analysis. The results showed that the production factors that had a significant effect on corn production were land area and labor, while herbicides had an insignificant effect on corn production. The results of the analysis using margin share obtained two marketing channels for corn in the research area. The SWOT analysis shows that the most prioritized strategy for increasing corn production and marketing is improving the quality of human resources for corn farmers and Field Agricultural Officers (PPL). An efficient marketing channel is marketing channel I. The most prioritized strategy for efforts to increase production and marketing of corn is to improve the quality of human resources for corn farmers and agricultural extension workers through education, training and internships related to corn cultivation and postharvest processing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility and sensitivity to changes in input prices, output prices and the amount of production of cocoa farmers in the Prima Jaya Farmers Group. Prima Jaya Farmers Group is a cocoa farmer group that was formed in 2016. This research uses a case study method, the research data consists of primary data and secondary data. The feasibility data analysis was carried out using three investment criteria, namely Net Presen Value (NPV), Net Benefit Cost Ratio (Net B/C), Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The results of the study concluded that the business activities carried out by farmers in the Prima Jaya Farmer Group were financially feasible, this was indicated by a positive NPV value of Rp. 105.097.456. The IRR value is higher than the discount rate, which is 26.65%, the Net B/C value is 3,70. The results of the sensitivity analysis based on changes in input prices by 10%, a decrease in the price of cocoa beans by 49,21% and a decrease in the amount of cocoa production by 49,15% indicate that cocoa farming carried out by farmers in the Prima Jaya Farmer Group is still financially feasible.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain how the government should be able to optimize the village sector from a policy perspective in order to achieve sovereignty in the agricultural sector, and make it an alternative strategy of high significance during a pandemic. This is because so far the village has not become the main actor in achieving national food security, even though this sector has various potentials that can be developed through the principle of sustainable farming. This paper uses descriptive-qualitative methods using secondary data sources through literature and documentation studies. Various approaches such as the concept of Food Security, Securities Theory, and the concept of Decision Making as an analytical tool in studying the phenomena raised. As a result, the case study of the use of the Peatland Project (PLG) in the Food Estate program in the era of the Joko Widodo administration is a form of inefficiency because it has to go through a long process so that optimal results will only make Indonesia slow to prepare to face the world food crisis. Optimizing villages with the empowerment of the crop rotation method can provide significant changes in strengthening food through quality production and can reduce Indonesia's dependence on imports. This certainly shows that sustainable farming through village optimization can improve community welfare.

Abstract

Abstract Economic growth is an indicator of improving people's welfare. The agricultural sector is a source of employment as well as an economic source for most people in South Sumatra. The exchange rate of farmers in South Sumatra from 2012 to 2020 was 110.13 in a row; 110.03; 100.92; 96.87; 94.58; 95.03; 93.62; 90.52; and 95.37. This value shows the level of farmer welfare is still low. The province of South Sumatra needs to fix problems in the basic sectors in the regions, especially the agricultural sector. The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in the economic structure; knowing the impact of changes in economic structure on the absorption of labor in the agricultural sector; and knowing the impact of changes in economic structure on the level of welfare of farmers in South Sumatra Province. The research method used was analytical descriptive analysis and data analysis techniques used were shift share analysis, production structure pattern analysis, and labor absorption share analysis. The data used is secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency. The results showed that the changes in the economic structure in South Sumatra Province were marked by a decrease in the role or contribution of the agricultural sector, on the contrary, the service sector experienced an increase in contribution, and the industrial sector tended to be stable. The impact of changes in economic structure on employment in the agricultural sector in South Sumatra Province is indicated by the accumulation of labor in the agricultural sector due to the slow movement of labor to the service sector or industry. The impact of changes in economic structure on the level of welfare of farmers in South Sumatra can be seen in the farmer's exchange rate which decreased from 110.13 in 2012 to 95.37 in 2020, this value indicates that farmers have a deficit and have a low level of welfare.

Abstract

The horticulture sub-sector as one of the leading sub-sectors in agricultural development has grown and developed into a commodity that is quite attractive to the market. One of the supporting factors for the development of horticultural agribusiness is the empowerment of farmers through institutional development. To be able to formulate appropriate institutional forms, understanding community institutions is an important first step. Understanding of institutions is done by identifying local institutions, their potentials and roles. This understanding will make it easier to formulate strategies for strengthening local institutions. Good institutional quality will have an effect on managing the horticultural agribusiness that is involved. Recently, institutions have become very valuable because the implementation of development in the modern era is always correlated with institutions or organizations that are formed as a vehicle for transferring capital and technology. The objectives of this research are: 1). The identification of local institutions in the development of horticultural agribusiness in Bantaeng Regency, 2). Knowing the strategy of institutional strengthening in the development of horticultural agribusiness in Bantaeng Regency. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis with SWOT data analysis technique. Local institutions that exist to support the development of horticultural agribusiness include Public Sector institutions (BP3K, Food Security Agency and Extension Officer and Agriculture Service). Voluntary Sector Institutions (Farmers' Group, Women's Farmer's Group, Association of Farmers' Groups, Village Unit Cooperatives and Farmers' Cooperatives).
