The aim of the Ascarya Journal of Islamic Science, Culture & Social Studies (ISCS) is to disseminate the results of scientific research in the fields of Islamic science, culture, and social research widely. ISCS is intended to be a journal that publishes research articles in the fields of education, law, history, literature, sociology, anthropology, politics, economics, communication, science, information technology. ISCS accepts research-related articles with any research methodology that meets the standards set for publication in journals. The main audience, but not exclusively, are academics, graduate students, practitioners, and others. The main criteria for publication on the ISCS are the importance of the contribution of an article to literature in the fields of Islamic science, culture, and social affairs, namely the importance of contribution and accuracy of the analysis and presentation of the paper. Admission decisions are made based on an independent review process which provides a very constructive and prompt evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

Abstract

The present research is about the Postcolonial study of Ray Bradbury's short story "Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed." Further, this research explores the issue of identity in the short story presented by the author. In the modern world, with the increase in immigrant numbers and the constitution of countries with different cultural diversities, identity issues arise. The researchers discuss the issue of identity in the postcolonial world and how the theorists viewed and presented their ideas about constructing identity in immigrants from these countries who suffered from facing the Diasporas and the dilemma of the difficulty of growing their identity. Furthermore, the paper investigates postcolonial novelists, especially in the novel "Dark They Were and Golden-Eyed ."As postcolonial theorists considered the issue of identity as one of its essential discussions, novelists also exposed the conditions of identity crises that emerged in the postcolonial period. Therefore, the method undertakes to apply postcolonial theories to the above novel, Dark They Were and Golden-Eyed. Different aspects and elements of Post Colonialism have been described in the research to explore the Post Colonialism presented in the novel, like ambivalence, racism, otherness, and hybridity.

Abstract

As many scholars have their own viewpoints and perspectives on Chomsky's universal grammar theory, this article shows recent developments in L2 learning by Chomsky. A significant turning point at the moment is Chomsky's UG approach to language education, particularly its values and parameters. Many researchers argue that with SLA, UG has problems like Fries and Palmer. They say that there are linguistic variations that make it difficult to differentiate between the SLA and the first language acquisition. It is possible to further clarify what would be specifically based on in future linguistic studies by assessing the challenges, so that development will be advanced towards language learning and SLA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse learning strategies and their application for the Alpha generation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study uses qualitative research with observation, interview and documentation as research methods to obtain data. Era 4.0 has increased the need for innovative learning strategies for teachers to facilitate creative and critical thinking among students. Cooperative learning strategy was identified as one of the effective approaches to improve students' problem-solving skills in group discussion on Islamic Education Science. The findings of this study emphasise the importance of identifying appropriate learning strategies for teaching Islamic religious education to the Alpha generation. Teachers need to develop implementation strategies for Islamic religious education in primary schools in order to improve the quality of Islamic religious education and address changes in cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. In this study, it was found that cooperative learning is an effective teaching strategy for Islamic religious education for the alpha generation. It allows students to engage in problem solving, decision making and learning with their peers. The outcome of the learning process was valued by the class and the learning outcomes were impressive. Based on the findings, it is recommended that teachers use cooperative learning strategies when teaching Islamic Religious Education to the Alpha generation.

Abstract

Humans are social beings. Society does not develop without family ties. Islam has given special importance to the formation of a family-centred society. According to Islam, the purpose of marriage is not only to fulfil biological needs; rather, marriage is a sacred relationship with mutual responsibility, respect, love, and sincerity. Marriage contributes to the creation of a family between a man and a woman. Similarly, in married life, love creates affection between each other and binds the bond of dignified living and peaceful harmony. Husband and wife complement each other in family life. Both husband and wife come from two different families to form a family. As life goes on, both of them have some misunderstandings. Small mistakes lead to big mistakes. If these mistakes are not corrected, marital discord begins. Due to marital discord, the abode of happiness called family once turned into hell. This conflict goes to a serious level and sometimes becomes life-threatening. Islam urges the maintenance of marital relations until the end of life, and to that end, it prescribes patience, tolerance, and responsible behavior. In this research, the causes that are responsible for marital discord have been revealed, and an attempt has been made to determine what the husband and wife should do by searching for a clear solution in the light of Islamic Shari'ah.

Abstract

Teenagers are the millennial generation who have a fundamental role in the industrial revolution 4.0 era. Based on the 2019 infographic data regarding profiles of social media users in Indonesia, it has known that social media users are dominated by residents, with an age range of 18-34 years. This age range is a person's productive age, or the phase of adolescence and early adulthood. Then, the following questions arise, what is the condition of the youth in Ponorogo Regency? Do they understand this critical role? What are they doing in their digital lives? Are they following the spirit of the industrial revolution 4.0? Based on the results of the data analysis, it shows that the contributions of adolescents, both conceptually and contextually, were formed based on adolescents' understanding of the industrial revolution 4.0. Conceptually, the comprehension of adolescents in Ponorogo Regency about the 4.0 industrial revolution is still limited to an understanding of the opportunities and challenges they face. They do not fully understand the concept of the 4.0 era. This understanding will shape the extent of contextual contributions of youth in the 4.0 era. The role of youth in Ponorogo Regency is still low, only reaching 34.5%. However, their contributions are quite diverse, starting from the fields of business, education, and social activities. Cognitively, the contribution of adolescents, both conceptually and contextually, is formed through a cognitive process that includes remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. From this process, the youth of Ponorogo Regency is still at the applying stage, namely how teenagers use a procedure to solve a problem that is happening or in doing a given task.

Abstract

Starting with the role of the reference frame under the influence of the perspective culture of the British and Vietnamese used as a cognitive premise of translation, the article presents the rationale for the procurement process on reasons, similarities, and differences in the representational meaning. The representational meaning of differences between the English locative preposition “at, in, on” and the corresponding linguistic units of Vietnamese through a particular communication context. According to the research results, when the reference object (DTQC) of the English locative position in the reference system is assimilated with the Vietnamese speaker [similar to the reference frame of the reference system], the translation semantics of the locative prepositions which is ​​"at, in, on" is like the expression representational semantics of the corresponding units in Vietnamese. The dissimilarity of the reference frames results in different structural semantics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility and practicality of digital worksheets based on local wisdom and character in grade 4 theme 8 My Living Area. This type of research is development research with AADIE (Analysis), (Design), (Development), (Implementation), and (Evaluation) models. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, document analysis, and questionnaires. The results of the feasibility based on three experts namely material experts, media experts, and practitioners obtained an average of 3.7 with very feasible criteria. The practicality rest was lots obtained from the student response questionnaire in the limited trial with a percentage of 70% with a very practical classification and 30% with a practical classification. In extensive trials, the results were obtained with a percentage of 55% with a very practical classification and 45% with a practical classification. In addition to the practical results obtained from student responses, there are also results of learning implementation. At the first meeting, the average was 3.35 with a very practical classification, the second meeting obtained an average of 3.67 with a very good classification, and the third meeting obtained an average of 3.80 with a very good classification. Based on the results obtained from the feasibility and practicality above, it can be concluded that the digital worksheet based on local wisdom and character in grade 4 theme 8 My Living Area is feasible and practical so that it can be used in learning. Based on the results of the worksheets based on local wisdom and character in class 4 Theme 8 My Living Area, there was an increase in student learning outcomes both from local wisdom and the application of character, as well as an increase in students' interest in knowing local wisdom in Purworejo Regency.

Abstract

Nurses have an obligation to make documentation of the nursing care actions they do in the form of SOAP. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of increasing knowledge and motivation of nurses on the completeness of SOAP documentation during handovers at Hospital X Bogor Regency with a quantitative pre-experimental one group pretest and posttest research design. The sample of this study amounted to 53 people according to the inclusion criteria. The intervention carried out was training on SOAP documentation. The data collection tool is a questionnaire. Data analysis using SPSS with Wilcoxon test and che square test. The result of this research is the description of the characteristics of nurses with the largest percentage aged >35 years 50.9%, D3 nursing education 84.9%, and working period >5 years 62.3%. a description of the knowledge level of 84.9%, good motivation of 86.8%, an overview of the completeness of SOAP documentation after training of 45.2%. The results of the analysis of differences in nurses' knowledge about SOAP documentation, P value of 0.000 means that there is a significant difference between the level of knowledge and the completeness of filling out SOAP documentation during handover before and after training. The results of the analysis of the effect of increasing knowledge on increasing the completeness of SOAP documentation. P value > 0.05, which means that there is no significant effect of increasing knowledge on the completeness of SOAP documentation during handover. Suggestions need to supervise and assist in filling the completeness of SOAP documentation continuously and evaluate the incompleteness of SOAP documentation.

Abstract

Learning Maharah Qiroah at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is an important subject during semesters 1-3. This course significantly helps students in reading Arabic texts. However, achieving success in this course requires students to overcome various problems they face, both linguistic and non-linguistic. This study follows a descriptive approach and collects data through observation and interviews. The results of this study highlight the problems faced by Arabic Language Education Students in reading Arabic texts at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, and provide possible solutions. Firstly, many students face linguistic and non-linguistic difficulties while learning Maharah Qiroah. Secondly, self-motivation is crucial for students to overcome these difficulties. Additionally, providing interesting texts as a learning medium can encourage students to read more.

Abstract

This study focuses on exploring the morality of students from two different environmental groups, namely students living in a pesantren environment and students living in a non-pesantren school at MTs Salafiyah Mojogeneng. Using a quantitative approach, this study used the descriptive analysis method to analyze and compare the two contexts. The study used two independent variables in its comparative analysis to examine the differences in morality between the two groups of students. The data collection methods used in this study included the use of documentation, interviews, and questionnaires to obtain the most accurate and comprehensive picture of the morality of students in both environments. In addition, the use of these multiple data collection methods also ensured the reliability and validity of the research findings. The results showed that the moral values of students living in a pesantren environment tended to be better than those of students living in non-pesantren schools. This finding indicates that the environment and teaching methods in pesantren may contribute to the development of higher moral values. Furthermore, this study also found a significant difference between the morality of students living in pesantren and non-pesantren in MTs Salafiyah Mojogeneng. This suggests that the context of residence and educational environment can play an important role in the formation of students' morality. Thus, this study concludes that there is a significant difference between the morality of students living in a pesantren environment and a non-pesantren school in MTs Salafiyah Mojogeneng.
