The widespread adoption of smartphones has transformed communication and information access, particularly among Nigerian youths. As Africa’s most populous nation and rapidly digitizing economy, Nigeria offers a unique backdrop to investigate the complex interplay between smartphone use patterns, socio-psychological well-being, and socio-cultural factors among its youth population. This study employed a cross-sectional survey research design to explore these intricate relationships comprehensively. The methodological approach involved a quantitative research framework using a tailored measurement scale developed to gather relevant data, encompassing demographic details, smartphone use patterns, socio-psychological well-being indicators, and socio-cultural factors. This study focused on Nigerian youth aged 18 to 30 years, employing a snowball sampling technique to disseminate the research instrument through WhatsApp and Telegram platforms. A total of 1241 participants from different regions of the country were included in the study. The results showed significant variations in smartphone use patterns among Nigerian youth based on age groups, gender, and socioeconomic background. The results revealed significant variations in smartphone use patterns based on demographic characteristics, including age, sex, and socioeconomic background. Furthermore, smartphone use patterns exhibited significant correlations with various aspects of socio-psychological well-being, such as emotional well-being, stress levels, sleep quality, and life satisfaction. Sociocultural factors did not significantly predict smartphone use patterns; family dynamics and peer interactions emerged as significant indirect influencers through psychological well-being. The recommendations arising from the study’s findings suggest tailored interventions for demographic groups, promotion of digital well-being, and the incorporation of digital literacy education.

Abstract

The pivotal role of human capital in organizational success is increasingly recognized in contemporary business environments. This study presents an in-depth analysis of how strategic human capital management can significantly enhance company performance. Utilizing a qualitative approach, grounded in a comprehensive literature review, our research explores various strategies that can be employed to improve human resource performance in organizations. We emphasize that the success of a company hinges not just on its business operations, but critically on its human capital – the unique knowledge and skills possessed by its workforce. This research argues that the nuances of human capital, such as education, skills, and health, are essential for the strategic development of an organization. By implementing effective human capital strategies, companies can foster an environment conducive to growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability. Our findings highlight that understanding and leveraging the unique attributes of human resources can lead to significant improvements in organizational activities and outcomes. This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on human capital theory by demonstrating its practical application in organizational strategy and performance enhancement.

Abstract

This article examines the nuanced application of the contra legem principle by judicial panels in the adjudication of community property cases, particularly in the context of marital property. It highlights the evolving legal landscape and the importance of equitable distribution in contemporary law, underscoring the need to understand judicial reasoning in an era increasingly focused on fairness and gender equality. The study closely examines cases from religious courts, highlighting a trend in which judges have awarded a disproportionate share of community property to wives. This observation raises important questions about the balance between legal norms and the pursuit of equity in family law, and provides a critical lens through which to explore the dynamics of asset distribution and its broader implications in current legal frameworks. The research aims not only to outline judges' distribution formulas, but also to offer insights into why such decisions are increasingly relevant in today's legal discourse, marking a significant shift toward recognizing the complexities of marital property division. This study uses qualitative research methods with a legal descriptive analysis approach. A thorough legal source is case number 413/Pdt.G/2021/PA.Tng and a number of other legal materials related to the author's research topic. The results of the study show that the panel of judges applied the contra legem principle in deciding this matter based on sociological considerations and distributive justice.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Indonesia's economic constitution and the legal framework governing State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) holding companies. The research analyzes the alignment of BUMN operations with constitutional ideals of welfare and social justice, based on the principles of the 1945 Constitution and the Limited Liability Company Law. The text highlights the discrepancies between theoretical principles and practical implementations, specifically in the areas of corporate governance, ethical conduct, and fair economic distribution. The investigation focuses on how these discrepancies manifest in BUMN operations, their impact on stakeholders, and the wider socio-economic implications for Indonesia. The study emphasizes the need for specific regulations that are tailored to the unique structural and operational characteristics of BUMN holding companies. Recommendations include improving oversight, increasing transparency, and strengthening accountability mechanisms. These measures are essential for aligning BUMN practices with constitutional mandates, ensuring operational efficiency and competitiveness, and making significant contributions to national socio-economic progress.

Abstract

Clinical nurses ought to exercise their clinical authority in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Clinical Assignment Letter and Details of Clinical Authority, as well as complete the credentialing process. However, this implementation has not been fully utilized or communicated to staff at Hospital. The aim of this research is to identify the mechanism for implementing clinical authority for PK I-III nurses upon receiving SPK in the inpatient room at Hospital X Jakarta. The research design utilizes the qualitative approach of hermeneutic phenomenology, and data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews. A total of 17 participants are involved, including 14 clinical nurses (PK I: 6, PK II: 6, PK III: 2), as well as 3 managerial nurses (2 heads of inpatient units and 1 inpatient coordinator). The thematic data analysis follows the Colaizzi method, and 3 themes emerge from the research findings: the application of clinical authority for PK I-III nurses, the availability of management elements in the application of clinical authority for PK I-III, and the lack of optimal management functions in the application of PK. The application of clinical authority in this research encompasses independent and collaborative actions, and it is essential to strengthen regulations, resocialize, and implement an electronic system to facilitate processes. To ensure that nurses work according to their qualification level, hospitals should reinforce regulations and supervision, provide support and commitment, and resocialize SPO, SPK, and RKK.
