Abstract

This study assessed the pension management system of the PRBS in the Philippine National Police, highlighting specific challenges and deficiencies in different areas. These challenges include ensuring the completeness and legality of supporting documents, addressing delays in the issuance of updated documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), improving the process of updating and issuing records, and enhancing the feedback mechanism and incorporation of results in the PRBS Program Review and Analysis. There are variations in beneficiaries' perceptions across different aspects of the pension management system, indicating room for improvement. Recommendations include establishing clear guidelines, enhancing communication channels, streamlining processes, and prioritizing solutions favored by beneficiaries. The study also recommends implementing clear guidelines, standardized checklists, training programs, and streamlined processes to address the challenges. These measures, if adopted, could significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pension management system. Enhancing communication and coordination with the PSA, implementing technological solutions, and establishing a feedback mechanism are also advised. Further, analysis is suggested to understand specific problems and differences in perception. Recommendations also focus on improving access to claim status information, prioritizing beneficiary-favored solutions, and enhancing policy implementation of the Pension Management System. These changes, if implemented, could lead to a more transparent, efficient, and beneficiary-friendly pension management system. Your active participation in this process is crucial and highly valued. Abstract

This research explores the potential of Muslim heritage tourism in Sofronio Española, Palawan, as a driver of economic growth and cultural exchange. The study investigates residents' perceived attributes towards this tourism development, focusing on socio-cultural, economic, and environmental aspects. A descriptive correlational design was employed, surveying 381 residents across nine barangays using stratified random sampling. The findings indicate a high level of agreement among residents on the positive socio-cultural impact of preserving Muslim heritage sites, the economic benefits of tourism-related income and job creation, and the necessity of sustainable environmental practices. The demographic profile revealed a predominance of females (61.2%), a youthful population with 60% aged 18-27, and a high level of educational attainment, with 48.6% having attended college. Despite these insights, statistical analysis showed no significant correlation between demographic factors (age, length of residency, educational attainment) and perceived attributes, suggesting widespread support for tourism development across different demographic segments. The study concludes that while demographic factors do not significantly influence perceptions, the overall positive outlook on Muslim heritage tourism highlights its potential for fostering sustainable development. Recommendations include enhancing community engagement, supporting local entrepreneurship, implementing sustainable tourism practices, and developing a comprehensive tourism action plan. These strategies aim to capitalize on the rich cultural and natural assets of Sofronio Española, promoting it as a premier destination for Muslim heritage tourism. This research provides a foundational understanding that can guide policymakers and stakeholders in creating effective tourism development initiatives that benefit both residents and visitors.

Abstract

This thesis investigated the effectiveness of the MARPOL 73/78 Surveyor Training Course offered by Oceanwide Maritime Services Corp. and identified potential areas for enhancement. The study assessed course content, instructor qualifications, delivery methods, facilities, equipment, and learning assessment using Kirkpatrick's Model. It engaged 110 maritime professionals through structured questionnaires and client satisfaction surveys. Findings indicated that the course was highly effective in terms of content, instructor qualifications, and assessment methods while teaching materials and course duration received lower scores. Recommendations included updating course content, increasing hands-on training, upgrading facilities, diversifying delivery methods, enhancing assessment techniques, extending course duration, and providing support for complex topics. In conclusion, the MARPOL 73/78 Surveyor’s Training Course is highly effective but needs improvements in teaching materials, course segments, and regular content updates to maintain training quality and relevance.

Abstract

The approach utilized in the study is a scoping review typically employed to map existing literature on a specific topic that undergoes an in-depth analysis, focusing on concepts, gaps, and findings. This study aimed to examine the technologies integrated into PE curriculum implementation and their benefits and challenges in the educational process in the Philippines. Moreover, in the methodological process, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) framework are used to ensure the transparency and trustworthiness of the study. Three overarching themes were identified with the in-depth analysis of the literature selected. The first theme emphasized technology utilization in curriculum implementation in PE, which emphasizes integrated technologies and online education platforms. The second theme highlighted the benefits of technological integration in PE curriculum implementation, which has seen online learning and platforms as effective tools. Literature has stated that teachers, families, and the environment greatly impact the new learning modality. The third theme covered the challenges of technological integration in PE curriculum implementation, together with the resource and environmental challenges in online education. This also concerned components impacting teachers' and students' holistic development. Furthermore, this study found that from 2020 to 2024, online learning became a tool for continuous learning as an alternative to the COVID-19 pandemic. Institutions utilized various technologies for PE to support the curriculum implementation, as some foresaw the time as a learning experience and gained new skills, while others faced hindrances and challenges in these times.

Abstract

Multiculturalism is increasingly shaping contemporary societies, yet food, a fundamental human necessity, often becomes a point of cultural and belief-based contention. The halal food industry has grown significantly, garnering support both locally and internationally. However, this burgeoning sector faces challenges related to establishing standardized regulations that acknowledge its role in nation-building and promote cultural diversity. This study aimed to assess the awareness and acceptance of pre-certified halal food among non-Muslim students across secondary schools in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. Employing a descriptive survey research design, the study utilized a researcher-developed questionnaire administered to 350 students selected through simple random sampling from seven identified schools in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. Findings indicated that despite Lambayong's diverse population, most respondents demonstrated awareness and positive perceptions of pre-certified halal food. However, some community elders and church leaders expressed reservations about allowing younger generations to consume such food. The study also observed that while many vendors and proprietors were Muslim, not all adhered to the practice of wearing hijab (for Muslim women), and some lacked necessary cooking equipment like gloves and hairnets. Furthermore, certain halal establishments were found to have inadequate sanitation and pest control measures. Ultimately, the study concluded that there exists a moderate relationship between respondents' awareness and their acceptance of halal food. Recommendations include schools collaborating with barangay and local government units to monitor the hygiene of nearby restaurants and canteens. Additionally, halal food establishments should prioritize enhancing their sanitation practices and hygiene protocols to ensure compliance and consumer confidence.

Abstract

his study aimed to assess the extent of implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and the extent of stakeholder participation in times of disaster towards the development of a comprehensive community-based Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) strategic manual. This study employed a descriptive comparative research design utilizing survey methodology. The study was conducted in the Third District of the Province of Negros Oriental. The respondents were LGU officials, PNP, DRRM Coordinators, SK officials, barangay officials, and local residents and were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. The major tool used in this study is a survey questionnaire adopted from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan manual. Data were analysed using weighted mean and one-way analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The study found that people are more proactive in preventing disasters than recovering from them. The poor performance of respondents in Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery (DRRM) was attributed to a lack of expertise and resources. The DRRM program's effectiveness still needs to be explored; hence, there is an urgent need for further study and evaluation to measure its impact. Communities often lack the means and capacity to respond effectively, emphasizing the need for empowering and involving local populations in disaster management. Insufficient resources, capacity, and collaboration between stakeholders hinder the implementation of disaster management programs, resulting in inadequate results and a loss of confidence in the government's ability to address disaster management needs. An internal disaster response plan should be in place in every barangay and activated during and immediately after disasters. When chaos and devastation from a disaster demand capability beyond those that barangays can afford, Local Government Units (LGUs) and the National Government are supposed to respond. Designated Barangay Disaster Response Teams and volunteers may also help.

Abstract

The goal of outcome-based teaching and learning, or OBTL, is to provide students with explicit instructions on what they are expected to learn and how to demonstrate that learning before any instruction even begins. While the idea behind OBTL has been around for a while, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has just lately included it in its training curriculum. The Coast Guard Special Operations Force (CGSOF), one of the PCG's operating units, is dedicated to integrating OBTL into its system through its training institute in order to address the current trend in education. Determining the degree of OBTL practice implementation in the CGSOF-led specialized courses is the primary goal of the research. This study used a mixed-methods research approach that used quantitative and qualitative techniques. mixed-methods research design where survey questionnaires and informal interviews were used in data gathering. There were 42 instructors and 130 trainees from the CGSOF included in the study. The findings revealed that both the instructors’ self-assessment and the trainees’ observation showed a significant extent in the implementation of OBTL practices. There is a substantial alignment between the measurable competencies that trainees should exhibit at the end of the course with respect to its three main components: the intended learning outcomes (ILOs), teaching and learning activities (TLAs), and assessment tasks (ATs). Despite several identified factors affecting the OBTL implementation, including the lack of equipment and training facilities that most affect the alignment of the ILOs, TLAs, and ATs, it was still indicated that the implementation of OBTL in the CGSOF specialization courses has been applied with a consistently high degree of satisfaction and efficacy, offering instructors and trainees a well-rounded education experience.

Abstract

The thrust of the PNP is the continuing development and well-being of women and children investigators. To this end, a training needs assessment was conducted. This assessment is considered hybrid because it includes self-care, particularly the psychosocial and mental health needs of the WCPD investigators in their training. This study used a quantitative and descriptive approach to gather and analyze data. The questionnaire, which consisted of a 4-point scale, was used to assess the training needs of the WCPD personnel of the NCRPO from the regional headquarters down to its 5 district offices (NPD et al., and QCPD). Notably, the result of the study shows that family and self-care, including psychosocial and mental health, are highly needed as they describe the development and maintenance of stable physical and mental health. Additionally, the data gathered affirm that training and personnel capability enhancement and management and administration of assignments are highly needed. Specifically, the areas such as deployment of policewomen in the WCPD, placement of female WCPD Chief and personnel, Staffing Pattern and provision of an adequate number of personnel, strengthening of WCPC in the management of human resources, streamlining and efficient system of processing of the request for reassignment and placement of personnel, including the policy on reassignment, Standardization of WCPD offices, localization of assignment of WCPD investigators and required years of stay in the WCPD, are the points to be considered and improved in order to achieve optimum performance of WCPD as an office/ unit. Thus, the study provides an enhancement program for the training needs of WCPC investigators.

Abstract

Emojis are small images conveying meaning, emotions, and tone embedded in electronic text messages that allow people to express their feelings and emotions in nonverbal and informal conversations. This study aimed to find out the role of emojis as a communication medium among college students in a state-run institution. Specifically, it sought to identify the popularly-used emojis, the social media platforms where these are used, determine their frequency of use, and the instances where these are used. Sophomore college students enrolled in a teacher education degree program specializing in the English language at a state-run university supplied the data collected using a validated survey questionnaire transformed and sent through the Google messenger application. Results revealed that the topmost popular emojis used by college students in their nonverbal communication were the heart, face with tears of joy, and loudly crying face. Participants stated that they always use emojis in their informal communication with friends on popular social media platforms, such as Facebook and Messenger. It was also established that emojis were used when messaging friends or family members expressing their feelings, and having nothing else to reply to in a conversation. These findings attest that the use of technology-driven trends has evolved in the communication media, particularly among the younger generation.

Abstract

This paper explores the impact of profit sharing on employee motivation, productivity, and company performance in the engineering and construction industry. Through a meta-analysis of recent studies, it identifies key factors that influence the effectiveness of profit-sharing programs. The findings reveal that profit sharing significantly boosts employee motivation and productivity, with increases of 15% and 12% respectively. Moreover, job satisfaction rates are 20% higher among employees participating in profit-sharing programs. However, there is a notable preference split, with 60% of employees favoring profit sharing for its potential higher earnings, while 40% prefer fixed salary increases for stability. The research further indicates that frequent and actively managed profit-sharing distributions, such as quarterly payouts, lead to better financial performance, with a 10% increase in overall performance and a 5% improvement in profitability. Project-based profit sharing in the construction sector is particularly effective, resulting in a 25% increase in project completion rates and a 15% reduction in project costs. Additionally, profit sharing is more effective in unionized organizations, with an 18% increase in effectiveness, and mandatory profit-sharing frameworks enhance worker satisfaction and productivity. Based on these findings, the paper recommends developing tailored profit-sharing strategies that cater to different employee preferences, implementing frequent and active management of profit-sharing distributions, adopting project-based profit sharing in project-centric industries, engaging with unions for fair terms, advocating for supportive regulatory frameworks, and continuously monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. By adopting these strategies, engineering and construction firms can enhance employee motivation, improve productivity, and achieve better financial performance, driving organizational success.
