Abstract

This study offered a literature of Physical Education (PE) strategies employed in the United States, China, and Nigeria, shedding light on diverse approaches influenced by unique cultural, societal, and governmental factors. In the United States, a flexible and inclusive PE curriculum prioritizes student engagement and lifelong physical activity through diverse activities and personalized instruction. Conversely, China's structured PE programs emphasize discipline, physical fitness, and early talent identification, supported by robust government policies. Nigeria's PE teaching strategies integrate cultural relevance, community involvement, and adaptive resource utilization to promote physical activity despite resource constraints. Through cross-cultural learning and recommendations for government investment, teacher training, community engagement, and health education integration, stakeholders can enhance PE programs globally, fostering physical activity, sports participation, and overall well-being among students.

Abstract

This research addresses the gap in comprehensive predictive models for construction project success rating by exploring the potential of regression models to evaluate project success rating. By analyzing 130 datasets from the National Capital Region, the study utilizes Support Vector Regression (SVR), Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with a 22-30-1 configuration (22 input neurons, 30 neurons in a single hidden layer, and 1 output neuron). The input variables represent critical success factors rated on a scale of 1-5, while the output variable represents the predicted project success percentage rating. Various statistical tools, including ANOVA, Lasso Regression, R², MAE, and MSE, are utilized for evaluation. The findings reveal that SVR achieved the highest accuracy (R² = 0.881, MAE = 2.172, MSE = 7.054), followed closely by MLR (R² = 0.874, MAE = 2.180, MSE = 7.470), while ANN (R² = 0.743, MAE = 3.076, MSE = 15.239) may require refinement. Lasso Regression identified 22 critical success factors, with Financial Condition, Effectiveness in Decision-Making, and Compliance to Quality Standards ranking as the top three. This research contributes to the advancement of construction predictive analytics, which can lead to improved decision-making and more efficient, effective, and ethical construction practices.

Abstract

This study looks into the relationship between parental involvement and reading performance of Grade VI students in Pajo Elementary School, Tarangan, Samar. Specifically, it aimed to identify the reading proficiency of students in Grade VI at Pajo Elementary School in general and grouped in terms of: a) frustration b) Instructional and c) Independent; determine how do parents view parental involvement practices in relation to their child's reading performance; and to know if there is a significant correlation between parents' involvement practices and their children's reading ability. Descriptive and quasi-experimental design were employed in the study. Numerical and non-numerical data were gathered from both the student-respondents and parents-respondents. Interview guide was employed for the focus group discussion with the parents.

Abstract

Amidst the pandemic, the Teknoy-Inquiry Assistant (TINA) system was created to accommodate student institution–related questions while following the restrictions implemented by the government. Due to the rushed design, users experience untimely response problems when using the service. The research aims to investigate and propose improvements to the TINA system for the sustainability of the service. The researchers focused on the turn-around time for the replies to the questions in the TINA system. To further justify the importance of addressing the turn-around time of replies, the researchers also investigated the meaningful relationship between student satisfaction and response time. The researchers addressed and resolved the reply time using Kano Analysis. The research also used purposive sampling, using researcher-made survey questionnaires to find the relationship between student satisfaction and the timeliness of replies. With the help of the Pearson correlation coefficient, the researcher found a positive correlation between student satisfaction and reply time, with a positive correlation value of 0.4090. Since a positive correlation is found between student satisfaction and reply time, improving the turn-around time of reply certainly increases student satisfaction. Therefore, to improve TINA, the researchers advocate implementing its Artificial Intelligence Chatbot version to improve reply time. The research is the first to contribute to the Field of Technology and University Services within the local context since it may give practical suggestions on properly creating an Inquiry Assistant System among regional universities.

Abstract

Student engagement programs served as catalysts for student development, community building, and active participation in campus life. This research explored the state of student engagement programs within the Supreme Student Government (SSG), focusing on their effectiveness and levels of student participation. Utilizing the 5 Whys methodology, the study identified and analyzed critical challenges and opportunities related to student motivation, program structure, and alignment with student interests. The findings revealed that internal communication breakdowns and budget constraints were significant factors impeding the effectiveness of SSG programs. Student participation was only moderate due to conflicting schedules with classes and insufficient program marketing. The rigid structure of SSG programs and a lengthy approval process further limited their ability to meet student needs. A disconnect between program content and student interests hindered engagement. The research concluded that the root causes of these problems lay in the need for more structured communication channels, a complex approval process, and misalignment with student interests. By addressing these underlying motives, recommendations included enhancing internal communication, allocating funds as efficiently as possible, and creating an inclusive learning environment. These strategies aimed to develop more effective and appealing student engagement programs, ultimately fostering a more active and engaged student body.

Abstract

This study determines the phenomenological behavioural problems manifested by high school students enrolled in Subic National High School and draws implications to address the behavioural issues. The study used qualitative research adhering to phenomenological methods, and data were thematically analyzed. Results of the study showed that most of the participants are between the ages of 28 and 32, most of the teacher's responders are female, the majority of the teacher's responses are teaching English, and the majority of participants are Teacher I. The common misbehaviour issues of the students inside the classroom are disruptive behaviours, truancy, and behavioural engagement. The factors that led to students' misbehaviour inside the school are biological, social factors, and internal factors. Participants encourage students to behave well inside the classroom by giving rewards and punishments, classroom activities, and creating a positive classroom environment. Suggested activities to make the students behave well inside the school are fostering a culture of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, interactive teaching and learning, and rewards and motivation. A program was proposed. The study recommends that teachers be trained to handle classroom management concerns and problems. Administrators, teachers, parents, and students must all collaborate to achieve a common aim of peace and harmony in well-managed schools. Students should be included as participants in future studies, and their impressions and comments about school punishment techniques should be recorded. Further study may be conducted to validate the findings of this research.

Abstract

Poor payment practices continue to plague not only the private construction industry but also the government construction sector. According to recent studies, conditions and instructions can be encoded into smart contracts to allow automatic payments. The construction industry in the Philippines is slow to adapt to new technologies. This research proposes the adoption of smart contracts for implementing Philippine government infrastructure projects. By analyzing datasets from the Cordillera Administrative Region, this study determined the willingness of government employees and contractors to adopt smart contracts for government projects and identified factors causing doubt among contractors and government employees about its implementation. A total of 218 professionals responded to a Google Form questionnaire, and 20 participants were involved in unstructured interviews, which supported the data and results from the questionnaire. To interpret and validate the data gathered, a two-tailed t-test analysis was used. The study revealed that the Philippine government construction industry, specifically in the CAR region, is not yet ready to adopt smart contracts. It was also found that smart contracts will only be effective with proper introduction through seminars and training.

Abstract

This study focused on the development and evaluation of the Digitalized Learning Module in Cookery for Grade 11 Students of a public national high school in Antipolo City for the third quarter of the school year 2022-2023. In this study, weighted mean was utilized to ascertain how well the created digitalized learning module in cookery for Grade 11 students was received by instructors and expert responses. Independent-samples z Test was utilized to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference between the two sets of respondents' assessments of the created digitalized learning module in cookery for Grade 11 students. The study involved 30 respondents to complete the research investigation. It was revealed that both the TLE/TVL experts and TLE/TVL teachers agreed that the use of Digitalized Learning Module in Cookery among Grade 11 Students and its evaluation received very satisfactory ratings across multiple quality dimensions. Further, adopting a Digitalized Learning Module in Cookery for Grade 11 students can help improve their academic performance even when learning online. The Digitalized Learning Module may be a very useful tool to facilitate teaching Cookery for Grade 11 TVL class that could prepare students to develop critical thinking which may lead to higher academic performance in the subject. The use of the strategy is recommended for further research and may be applied to other subjects.

Abstract

This study focused on the instructional leadership skills of School Heads and their relation to the self-efficacy of elementary teachers in all schools in Castillejos District, Division of Zambales. The data gathered were treated using Mean, Standard Deviation, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearson r. Overall, the teacher’s perception of instructional leadership skills of the school heads in terms of being Resource Providers, Instructional Resources, Communicators, and Visible Leaders got a descriptive rating of “Always”. Generally, teacher’s perceived self-efficacy in terms of Encouraging Student Engagement, Instructional Strategies, and Classroom Management stipulated a descriptive rating of “A Great Deal”. There is a significant difference in the school head’s instructional leadership skills when grouped according to their age, number of years as school head, and number of seminars/trainings attended related to instructional leadership. There is no significant difference in the school head’s instructional leadership skills when grouped according to their sex and highest educational attainment. Lastly, the school head’s instructional leadership is significantly correlated to teachers’ self-efficacy. Based on the findings and conclusions, the following are recommended: School heads should continue their professional growth and development by enrolling in Graduate School. Likewise, attend more training related to instructional leadership. School heads should strengthen their instructional leadership skills.

Abstract

This research investigated a total population of 135 elementary school teachers' attitudes toward workload vis-à-vis their level of time management practices in District IIB, Division of Olongapo City from January to March 2023. The researcher employed a descriptive correlational study using a questionnaire as its main instrument. The weighted mean, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson r Product Moment Correlation Coefficient were used to treat data gathered statistically. In general, the findings indicated a positive teacher’s attitude towards workload. Also, results postulated neutral time management practices among teacher-respondents. Moreover, there is no significant variation in teachers’ attitudes towards workload across schools. On the other hand, there is considerable variation in teachers’ time management practices across schools. Lastly, there is a moderate and positive significant correlation between teachers’ attitudes toward workload and time management practices. It is recommended that schools communicate effectively with teachers about workloads. Schools should ensure that the compensation is appropriate to the workload assigned. Schools are advised to provide opportunities for teachers' professional development. Also, schools should assess their leadership and organizational cultures to determine areas where improvement is needed. Schools should encourage teachers to reflect on their time management practices and offer them training and resources to enhance their skills. Lastly, future researchers should explore other variables affecting attitudes toward workload and time management practices, such as teacher support networks and work environments.
