Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the schools’ research operations, planning, and development as bases for policy enhancement in the Schools Division of Iloilo for school year 2023-2024. The independent variables included age, sex, length of service, educational attainment, and congressional district, while the dependent variables were schools’ operations, planning, and research development. A total of 385 elementary teachers were selected using Slovin’s formula, and data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire. Statistical analyses, including frequency count, percentage, mean, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s r, were employed to interpret the results. Findings indicated that most respondents were young, predominantly female, with substantial lengths of service. Most had a bachelor's degree and across various congressional districts, with the Second Congressional District having the highest representation. The study revealed that teachers rated the level of schools’ research operations as high, research planning as very high, and research development as high. No significant differences were found in assessments based on the teachers' profiles. However, a strong positive correlation was noted between research operations and planning, as well as between planning and development, while the relationship between operations and development was weak and non-significant. These findings underscore the need for policy enhancements that foster collaboration and resource allocation in educational research, ultimately contributing to more effective teaching practices and improved learner outcomes. Implementing targeted policies that address identified gaps can empower teachers and strengthen the overall research framework within schools.

Abstract

A study was conducted in the Tarlac City Schools Division, Philippines, to evaluate the practice teaching experiences of student interns in line with Republic Act No. 7722, known as the "Higher Education Act of 1994," which underscores the significance of quality pre-service teacher education in enhancing educational standards. The research aimed to assess the preparedness of student teachers by examining various factors including orientation activities, relationships with the school community, accessibility of practicum sites, and the quality of support services. The methodology involved descriptive analysis of orientation sessions conducted by supervisors and cooperating educators, which included familiarization with school facilities, rules, classroom routines, and instructional material development. Additionally, the study evaluated student interns' involvement in lesson planning and teaching demonstrations while identifying challenges through questionnaires, interviews, and portfolio reviews. Findings revealed that student interns rated their overall practice teaching experience as "Very Good" across multiple dimensions such as orientation activities and community engagement. The interns effectively utilized instructional materials and were acknowledged for their exceptional performance during their internships. This study provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of practice teaching programs and contributes to the preparation of future educators in the Philippines, supporting the national objective of improving educational quality to meet global standards.

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study investigates the lived experi-ences of teachers in rural, urban, and coastal areas of Albay, Philippines, highlighting the challenges and skills that shape their professional lives. Despite the critical role of teachers in education, little research has fo-cused on how geographical context influences their experiences. In-depth interviews and participant observation were employed to gather data from teacher-participants. The study utilized the phenomenologi-cal frameworks of Husserl and Heidegger to analyze the data and cap-ture the essence of the participants' experiences. The findings reveal common life skills among teachers, including adaptability, effective communication, interpersonal skills, pedagogical skills, and practicality. Both rural and urban teachers demonstrated digital literacy, while competitiveness was more pronounced in urban settings. Financial lit-eracy emerged as a strength among rural and coastal teachers, likely due to fewer distractions that lead to excessive spending. Urban teach-ers were found to be more susceptible to overspending due to the influ-ence of commercial establishments and entertainment options in their environments. These outcomes underscore the importance of under-standing how geographical context impacts teachers' experiences and skills, providing insights that can inform educational policy and prac-tice.

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological research explores the lived experiences of key informants through in-depth interviews and participant observation. The teacher-participants, who work in three geographical areas, were identified by the Department of Education (DepED) in the Schools Division Office of Albay. The study is grounded in the phenomenological concepts and principles of Husserl (1859-1938) and Heidegger (1889-1976), along with the Reflection-Action perspective of Freire (1921-1997), to capture the essence of their experiences. Due to the global health crisis caused by COVID-19, data collection utilized virtual platforms such as Facebook Messenger, Google Meet, Zoom, and phone calls, in addition to face-to-face interviews when possible. Health protocols mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), including mask-wearing, social distancing, and the use of hand sanitizer, were strictly followed to ensure safety. The findings indicate that teachers from rural, urban, and coastal areas reflect various educational philosophies such as essentialism, humanism/existentialism, pragmatism/progressivism, reconstructionism, constructivism, idealism, behaviorism, and perennialism. Some teacher-participants from rural and coastal areas also exhibit positivism, influenced by their expertise in mathematics and science. These educational philosophies enhance their coping mechanisms and teaching competencies to adjust to the local cultural realities.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the critical performance roles among school heads and teachers’ collaboration in public schools. A quantita-tive descriptive correlation research design was used and the modified standardized survey instrument based on Total Leaders 2.0 by Spady (2010) was utilized in the 31 public schools with 538 teachers, school heads, and principals serving as the respondents. The test of the signif-icant difference between the assessment of the school heads and teach-ers as to critical performance roles among school heads indicates there is no significant relationship between groups and within groups by schools. There is a significant difference between the assessment of the school heads and teachers as to teachers’ collaboration. The perceived level of assessment of school heads and teachers as to teachers’ collabo-ration noted a significant. There is a significant relationship between the level of manifestation of critical leadership performance roles among school heads level of manifestation of teachers’ collaboration. Finally, the level of manifestation of critical leadership performance roles among school heads singly or in combination does not significant-ly explain the level of manifestation of teachers’ structural collabora-tion. The results show that critical performance roles positively pre-dicted Instructional Programs and Interpersonal Collaboration than in and of other variance.

Abstract

The study makes the case that adding social media campaign tactics to the requirements for local office holders will encourage more responsible, knowledgeable, and involved grassroots politics. This study explores the qualification standards for local candidates and how these standards can be redefined in the context of social media campaigns. As digital channels have a greater influence on voter involvement and perception, identifying the criteria that resonate with people becomes critical. The study highlights important characteristics—such as ethics, community involvement, and digital literacy—that distinguish successful local candidates. The study presents a methodology for optimizing campaign messaging and outreach by studying the candidates' successful social media techniques. Finally, the findings aim to help future politicians use social media to increase democratic engagement and develop meaningful ties with voters. This study emphasizes the essential interplay of candidate qualities and internet campaigning in determining electoral results.

Abstract

Vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VMGOs) function as the founda-tion of an educational institution. The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) underscored that an educational institution is assessed according to the degree how its VMGOs are achieved, but not in comparison with others. This descrip-tive cross-sectional survey research was used to gauge the level of awareness and acceptability of the stakeholders on the PRMSU vision statement and mission and the goals and objectives (VMGO) of the Communication and Information Technology Programs of PRMSU Sta Cruz Campus. The stakeholders are “very much aware” of the universi-ty’s new vision statement, mission, goals, and objectives of the teacher education program, they have full participation in the revision of the vision statement. The VMGO is clear, understandable, and acceptable as perceived by the stakeholders. Massive information dissemination of the new vision statement in all media types is recommended. Further-more, stakeholders must be encouraged to share their part in realizing the university’s VMGO.

Abstract

This study looks at how Valenzuela Medical Center's (VMC) clinical workflow efficiency and patient outcomes are influenced by the installa-tion of a Laboratory Information System (LIS). Due to time constraints, convenience sampling was used to collect data from sixty-three (63) medical professionals in the clinical and diagnostic laboratory depart-ments using a descriptive study design and a mixed-methods technique. To measure participant responses, descriptive statistics such as means, standard deviations, and frequency distributions were used. Using paired sample t-tests, inferential analysis was carried out to compare metrics before and after LIS adoption, with an emphasis on factors like error rates, turnaround times, and specimen handling accuracy.Key findings showed that LIS adoption improved data accessibility across departments, lowered transcription errors by about 28%, and cut specimen processing turnaround times by an average of 35%, all of which contributed to improved interdepartmental communication. Further-more, 90% of respondents expressed more confidence in the accuracy of laboratory results following LIS integration, and 85% of respondents re-ported higher satisfaction with data processing procedures. Significant improvements were also shown in patient outcomes, with quicker diag-nostic processing leading to earlier treatment commencement and, in some situations, shorter hospital stays overall. In addition to demon-strating the wider advantages of incorporating cutting-edge information systems in healthcare settings, this study emphasizes the critical role that LIS plays in improving laboratory operations, cutting down on diag-nostic delays, and improving the quality of patient care at VMC.

Abstract

This study explores innovative financing solutions to expedite the adoption of solar energy systems among households and businesses in Davao City, Philippines. The urgency of addressing climate change and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources has amplified the importance of solar energy as a viable alternative. However, the significant initial investment required for solar installations poses a substantial barrier, especially in developing regions such as the Philippines. Existing literature, including IRENA (2014) and subsequent studies by the International Renewable Energy Agency (2021), underscores both the socio-economic benefits of solar energy and the financial challenges in Southeast Asian adoption, mainly due to high costs. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, integrating quantitative and qualitative research. The quantitative aspect employed a descriptive design, incorporating surveys and interviews with homeowners, business owners, financial institutions, and solar energy providers across three districts in Davao City. The qualitative component involved grounded theory, focusing on in-depth interviews and group discussions to identify barriers and shape tailored solutions. This comprehensive data collection facilitated the development of a locally adapted financing model. Analysis of findings showed that while there is a strong interest in solar energy, significant obstacles persist, including high upfront costs (cited by 68% of respondents) and limited awareness of financing alternatives (noted by 45%). The proposed start-up model incorporates microfinancing and flexible payment structures, addressing these challenges and incorporating community involvement in financing decisions. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that an adaptable financing model can drive solar energy adoption in Davao City, fostering sustainable growth and energy self-sufficiency. This framework could be applied in similar contexts across Southeast Asia, promoting more comprehensive renewable energy access and supporting the region's transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Abstract

The alteration in the business environment is always dynamic, and the companies must respond to these issues. It is necessary for the management to always be conscious of the prevailing condition, especially in the cost aspect. Cost aspect is substantial for profit-oriented companies to lead to the profit as optimum as possible. Therefore, the cost management is requisite in order to manage cost in the proper manner. Cost management is considered as one of the essential tools to enhance the competitiveness of business potential. Through a well-defined cost management system, man-agement is capable to acquire accurate information which pro-spective to be exploited for decision-making instruments and con-trol the internal business process entirely. Many studies have been conducted to provide a more appropriate and proper cost man-agement system for the companies. The current development in-cludes integrating cost management with Kaizen, Target Cost Modeling, Target Value Design, Cost Effectiveness Analysis, and even with the Monte Carlo Simulation in order to accommodate the uncertainty factor in the cost. Therefore, this paper provides an overview related to the cost management implementation by mapping those current development into the modified Generic Product Development framework.
