Abstract

Occupational burnout is a significant threat to the teaching profession, affecting both the quality of education and the mental health of educators. This study explores the phenomenon of burnout among primary school teachers, focusing on the dimensions of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. Using a quantitative approach, the research examined 31 teachers at Arkady Fiedler Primary School No. 5 in Gniezno. Results indicate that while 66.6% of respondents experience some level of emotional exhaustion, there is a strong correlation between professional experience and burnout severity. Teachers with over 30 years of service and those holding "certified teacher" status are most at risk. The study concludes that enhancing teachers' sense of self-efficacy and providing stress-management training are essential for organizational health.

Abstract

Where formal medical–veterinary linkages are weak or nonexistent, as in BASULTA, zoonotic risks are commonly governed through informal institutional mechanisms that may be described as pragmatic “political settlements” operating at the local level. Health workers often use tacit and networked knowledge and culture-specific coordination—such as consultation with local animal handlers, traditional healers,barangay leaders (village heads), and environmental officers—to recognize disease patterns before they are reportable ZDs. Although undocumented, these informal mechanisms enable communities to adjust quickly in geographically isolated and resource-poor territories and are an indication of what De Vera (2022) refers to as negotiated governance in conflict-affected areas. Instead of these configurations being seen as deficits, One Health “policies on paper” should identify and incorporate them as realistic nodes for institutionalization. This may require mediation of community-based animal health workers, institutionalization of local reporting pathways into surveillance and multi-actor protocols that value experiential knowledge as much as technical expertise. Although mired at local scale by piecemeal efforts, embedding such locally adapted coping mechanisms into formal policy can shift One Health implementation in BARMM away from externally-driven models and towards context responsive modes of governance sensitive to everyday practices; while supporting a resilient system overtime.

Abstract

Microenterprises face constraints in accessing capital, markets, and entrepreneurial support systems, which limit their capacity for venture creation and growth. Crowdfunding emerged as an alternative mechanism with the potential to address these challenges; yet its role in shaping venture creation decisions remains underexplored in emerging economies. Using an exploratory, qualitative, multiple-case approach, this study examines how crowdfunding influences the venture-creation and decision-making processes of Philippine-based microentrepreneurs. Drawing on eight cases of successfully crowdfunded enterprises, the study investigates entrepreneurs’ motivations for participating in crowdfunding, their experiences before, during, and after campaigns, and the critical transition points that shape venture outcomes. Findings demonstrate that crowdfunding is a market-validation tool rather than a financial tool. While funding initially motivates participation, crowdfunding’s most significant benefits are non-financial: market and consumer insight, product feedback, brand visibility, and access to broader networks. More importantly, these resources inform decisions to launch new ventures, develop new products, enter new markets, or pivot strategically, enabling low-risk market experimentation prior to full venture commitment. Building on these findings, the study refines crowdfunding entrepreneurial frameworks by extending commitment beyond new venture creation to include product- and market-level decisions, and contributes an alternative venture creation pathway for resource-constrained microenterprises.

Abstract

The study examines at how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting is helping mold a more responsible and sustainable future for manufacturing businesses in the Philippines. Today, businesses are no longer judged by profit alone. They are also expected to show how they protect the environment, treat people fairly, and operate with integrity. Utilizing a narrative literature review of studies published from 2015-2025, this research explores how this concept supports circular economy innovation and improves Triple Bottom Line performance, which focuses on people, planet, and profit. The review shows that government regulations, especially the SEC Memorandum Circular No. 4 (2019), greatly increased sustainability reporting among companies. While many firms now comply with reporting requirements, the actual depth of sustainability actions still differs across organizations. Evidence shows that strong ESG practices encourage circular strategies such as reducing waste, reusing materials, and designing products for longer use. These efforts are further supported by national policies like the Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022. But, problems remain, including limited data, uneven reporting quality, and resource constraints among smaller firms. In the nutshell, the study emphasizes that meaningful ESG reporting, combined with circular economy practices and responsible leadership can help Philippine manufacturers achieve long-term growth, resilience, and global competitiveness.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the association between campus leadership and institutional performance of higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Sulu. In particular, it investigated the influences of leadership behavior, cultural context, resource availability training and development, community engagement, political support and administrative support as important determinants of faculty and student outcomes. Building on Transformational Leadership Theory and Institution Theory, this study focused on leaders’ dual role in motivating internal actors and purposefully reacting to external institutional mandates. A quantitative research design using a self-made survey questionnaire was used in this study to collect the data from 209 respondents; faculty, administrators and students of five HEIs in Sulu, specifically: Mindanao State University – Sulu (MSU-Sulu), Notre Dame of Jolo College (NDJC), Sulu State College (SSC), Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trade (HBSAT) and Sulu College of Technology Inc. (SCT). All the data collection was made by stratified random sampling. Results were expressed by means of descriptive statistics, t-test and post-hoc analysis, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results indicated that leadership on campus in Sulu is mainly strong, healthy with clear vision to communicate effectively, and provide solid support for faculty and students. Overall level of faculty satisfaction and productivity and student engagement or learning outcomes were rated high, suggesting an effective influence of leadership on organizational performance. There were highly statistically significant relationships between the leadership factors and faculty and student outcomes.

Abstract

The Youth Council, which the Filipinos call Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), represents youth in every smallest political unit in the Philippines called a barangay. In the body of research, the youth themselves provide direct insights into how SK delivers as an official government body. However, research on roles and methods for leading youth programs and services in Region XII remains scarce. To fill the existing research gap, the researcher conducted a descriptive study in barangays of a municipality in Region XII, describing the experiences of SK officials in planning, implementing, and evaluating youth development programs and services. The seven participants were purposively selected using the following criteria: be a present SK official in 2023-2024; be at least 23 years old; and have at least 5 years of experience in the SK governance. A semi-structured interview was utilized in collecting the data, and thematic analysis in discovering the main patterns and recurring themes. The findings revealed that SK leaders approach program planning in a deliberate, collaborative, and evidence-based way. Their leadership during implementation shows adaptability, ethical behavior, and systematic operations. The program evaluation process was action-oriented, strategic, and reflective. A conceptual framework was developed, and implications for youth governance, program implementation, and policy development were derived from findings. The study further highlights that youth leadership at the barangay level fosters inclusive, participatory, and sustainable local development, demonstrating that active youth involvement in planning, implementing, and evaluating community programs contributes directly to achieving SDG 11 by strengthening resilient, people-centered, and well-governed human settlements.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the influence of challenges on gender-responsive pedagogy (GRP) practices at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Sipocot Campus during the school year 2024-2025. This employed a descriptive-correlational method. Statistical analyses included weighted mean, Pearson Product- Moment Correlation Coefficient, and Coefficient of Determination. The data show that teachers are generally in agreement on the issues they face, with an average weighted mean (AWM) of 3.02. Despite challenges, GRP practice was very high, with an average weighted mean (AWM) of 3.65, indicating "very highly practiced." A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the implementation of GRP in course syllabi and challenges in classroom setup (r = 0.383, p < 0.05) and teaching methodology (r = 0.347, p < 0.05). However, there was no substantial link between problems and GRP methods in classroom management or student performance evaluation. The analysis also found very minor connections between course syllabi and classroom arrangement (r2 = 0.15), teaching approach (r2 = 0.12), and gender-neutral language (r2 = 0.01). Similarly, there were weak associations found between classroom management and student performance (r2 values ranged from 0.00 to 0.11). These findings form the basis of a handbook aimed at addressing the stated difficulties.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the impact of social media on civic and political engagement among senior high school students in Zone 4 of the Schools Division of the Province of Zambales, Philippines. This study randomly selected 681 student-respondents and how social media affects their civic and political engagement. Results show that the majority from this study respondents were typically Female, 17 years old, mostly from Senior High School Academic Track, from low-income class family, with gadgets and highly engaged in using social media. Findings revealed that Facebook was the most commonly used social media platform among the Senior High School students. It also shows that respondents demonstrated a high level of awareness regarding the impact of social media platforms on youth civic and political engagement. Meanwhile, statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the perceived impact of social media platforms on political issues engagement when students were grouped according to sex, monthly family income, and extent of social media usage. Further, significant differences were also found in the perceived impact of social media platforms on overall youth engagement in terms of social media usage. Meanwhile, there is no significant difference observed in the perceived impact of social media platforms on social issues engagement when students were grouped according to sex, age, Senior High School track, household income, gadgets used, and social media usage. Results from this study showed significant difference in terms of students’ awareness of social media and political issues which influenced using social media platforms.

Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum, L.) is a perennial plant in the Poaceae family.  It is considered an important crop because it has the capacity to produce sucrose, accounting for up to 50% of the dry weight of a mature stalk.  In the Philippines, the sugarcane industry is one of the major dollar income industries. The study aims to determine the different sugarcane characteristics preferred by the farmers to plant and their relation to the volume of production in the Philippines. The descriptive-correlation method was employed in the study. The instrument used was the validated survey questionnaire used by the group of Oñal in their study in 2021. The 320 sugarcane farmers were randomly identified at the seven locations in the Visayas area of the Philippines. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) implied that there’s a significant difference in the production of sugarcane among the different locations in the Philippines. On sugarcane characteristics, the color of the stalks, stalk growth morphology, and the number of millable stalks at harvest implied a significant difference in production.  The stalk color and number of millable stalks at harvest were strongly correlated with the volume of production. The studyrevealed that in the characterization of sugarcane varieties in the Philippines, the stalk color and number of millable stalks should be given an impetus before releasing the varieties to farmers. The results of the study will enhance the government's average national target of production to 75 tons/ha and sustain the Philippine sugar industry.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the teachers’ pedagogical beliefs and classroom practices among elementary schools in Zone II, Division of Zambales. A descriptive research design was employed using a survey questionnaire as the primary instrument for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze and interpret the data. Findings revealed that the majority of the teacher-respondents were female, in middle adulthood, with MAED units, holding the position of Teacher I, and relatively new in the service. The respondents strongly agreed on both teacher-centered and student-centered pedagogical beliefs. Results further showed that there was no significant difference in teachers’ pedagogical beliefs and classroom practices in teaching science when grouped according to profile variables. However, a significant relationship was found between teachers’ pedagogical beliefs and their classroom practices, indicating a high correlation between the two. The effective use of strategies to reduce teachers’ and students’ resistance in science teaching requires purposeful developmental planning and the integration of active learning strategies. Moreover, the integration of technology in classroom instruction has the potential to promote more student-centered and constructivist beliefs among teachers. The study recommends that teachers employ differentiated activities and teaching strategies based on students’ learning needs and conduct action research to further improve the teaching and learning process. Future researchers are encouraged to conduct broader and more in-depth studies to validate the findings.
