Abstract

Because of the unexpected and debilitating effect of the current pan-demic, the impact of the pandemic on teachers is detrimental. This paper investigated the public-school teachers' sleep, religious tasks, and suicidal thoughts. The study used a descriptive correlational de-sign with the online survey as the primary data gathering tool. 198 public school teachers from a school's division in Central Luzon, Phil-ippines participated in the online survey. The researchers created the online instrument with validation done by experts. After the data gathering, the study used the following statistical tools to calculate the frequency count, percentage, rank, t-test, and Analysis of Variance with the help of SPSS 22. Results show that teachers go to sleep be-tween 10:00-11:00 PM and wake up between 5:00-6:00 AM. This comprises 7-9 hours of sleep. Teachers also go to church or other re-ligious meetings once a week and also, they pray, meditate, or study the Bible more than once a week. Also, most of the responses of teach-ers in the suicidal thoughts were either "no" or "never". Furthermore, the study also found significant differences in the teachers' sleep, re-ligious tasks, and suicidal thoughts when grouped according to their profile. The study concluded that teachers have established sleep and religious tasks routines. On the other hand, suicidal thoughts are out of the options for the teachers’ business.

Abstract

The study examined the effect of ownership structure and audit qual-ity on firm performance of listed companies in Ghana. The research employed a quantitative research approach; secondary data was ex-tracted from various annual reports and financial statements of the selected companies. The target population was all 42 listed compa-nies on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The sample size was 20 companies selected from all industries. The study period was 2013-2018 re-sulted in 160 firm-yearly empirical observations. The study used re-turn on asset (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) as the performance measure. Ownership structure was measured using managerial own-ership and institutional ownership, audit quality was also measured with the auditor’s reputation, audit committee size and audit commit-tee independence. The control variables used were board size and firm size. The researcher found a weak positive correlation between institutional and managerial ownership and firm performance. More-over, there was a positive effect of audit quality on firm performance. It implies that the engagement of the services of the Big 4 audit firms has an incremental effect on firm performance. Audit committee size posited a positive effect on firm performance whereas audit commit-tee independence was seen to harm firm performance. Similarly, board independence showed a positive effect on ROE and a negative effect on ROA. Board size, however, indicated a positive effect on firm performance. The researcher recommended the pressing need of di-versifying shareholdings in firms as a sweetener to attract more skills and expertise among shareholders that can be tapped to enhance the performance of firms. However, managers should be protected from unnecessary shareholding meddling.

Abstract

The vision, mission, goals and objectives (VMGO) of any institution serve as its founding pillars in realizing its thrusts, mandates and as-pirations. This descriptive cross-sectional survey research gauged the level of awareness and acceptability of the stakeholders on the university vision and mission statement, and the goals and objectives of the teacher education programs of a state institution in Central Lu-zon, Philippines. A total of 118 stakeholders, composed of adminis-trators, faculty members, staff, alumni and students, served as the study respondents. Results showed that the stakeholders are very much aware of the university’s new vision statement and mission. They are also very much aware on the goals and objectives of the teacher education programs. Almost all stakeholders have full partic-ipation in the reformulation of the vision statement. Further, the VMGO are clear, understandable and acceptable as assessed by the university stakeholders. Massive information dissemination of the VMGO in all types of media is recommended. Stakeholders are also encouraged to take part in the realization of the university’s target outcomes and mandates.

Abstract

The study examined the impact of incentive management strategies on employee performance among telecommunication firms in Ka-duna metropolis. The objectives of the study were to determine the impacts of monetary incentive management strategies and non-mon-etary incentive management strategies on employee performance among telecommunication firms in Kaduna metropolis. The study employed survey design method in which a specially designed ques-tionnaire was used to collect primary data from respondents in the study. The target population of the study was employees from the head branches of four selected telecommunication firms in Kaduna metropolis; providing network reception service for calls and inter-net access data to residence in Kaduna metropolis. The firms include MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile and Glo. The population of employees in these firms’ head branches were; 66 in MTN, 49 in Airtel, 61 in 9Mobile and 54 in Glo; making a total of 230. The sample of the study was same as that of the population, as census sampling technique was used to de-cide the sample size. Self-administered questionnaire was designed and used to collect the primary data of the study. The collected data for the study was analysed using descriptive statistical analysis tools (mean scores and standard deviation) to summarize the responses and inferential statistical tool (Regression model) to determine whether incentive management strategies have impact on employee performance in the selected firms. The study’s findings showed that both monetary and non-monetary incentive management strategies have significant impact on employee performance among telecom-munication firms in Kaduna metropolis. Based on the finding of the study, it was recommended that telecommunication firms continually review existing monetary and non-monetary incentive management strategies and design new incentive programs in order to encourage employee to perform better than their current performance level.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effects of classroom observation of parents to the performance of pupils in Pandayan Elementary School for the school year 2019-2020. A descriptive research method was utilized in this study. A research – made instrument for pre-test and post-test aligned with the given learning competencies in the K to 12 Curriculum Guide in Grades 4 -6 was designed and undergone validity and reliability examination by peer-experts. After the validation from other Principals, the Division Research Chairperson has approved the instrument. The researcher also carried out a dry run before the actual pre-test and post-test assessment to the respondents. The gathered data from the tests were recorded and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The findings showed that the post-test scores have increased after the classroom observation of parents. In conclusion, there was a significant difference on the academic performance of pupils in Mathematics before and after classroom observation of parents.

Abstract

In educational system, just like in a classroom setting, there is a degree or sense of uncertainty or ambiguity on how teaching-learning process will take place. It is the duty and responsibility of the teacher to structure the classroom in maximizing students learning by engag-ing in all modalities such as hearing, visual, olfactory, kinesthetic and gustatory. Moreover, by bringing students together in the classroom to produce group interaction that facilitates learning in different in-dividuals.I, the Researcher, had facilitated an active learning through the use of Mode of Response for Students Engagement (MORSE). Inter-vention was the use of personalized card, dyad, work cell group and random calling conducted twice a week for the duration of the 1st grading period. The 29 respondents from experimental group were subjected to MORSE and 29 respondents from control group were given traditional classroom engagement. The proponent sought to answer the following research questions: What was the effect on the academic performance of the students who were subjected to MORSE? Was there a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test result using the traditional method and of the MORSE method? Lastly, what was the implication of MORSE method in teaching Earth Science among grade 10 students?The collected data of pre-test and post-test results were gathered and treated using paired sample t-test of difference and mean. Sample paired t-test result showed that the computed t value of 7.45 is greater than the t critical value of 1.701 at level of significance of 0.05. There is significant difference on the post test result between the con-trol group and experimental group. The Experimental group, who were subjected to MORSE techniques achieved higher post-test than the control group. Based from the analysis gathered, MORSE methods is highly effective as means of engaging students to actively partici-pate and improve academic performance in Earth Science. Therefore, I, the proponent recommended the use of MORSE in classroom activities. Likewise, teachers can make use other MORSE techniques or devices to facilitate active learning in the classroom for whole class engagement.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to examine and identify the classroom assessment techniques (CATs) that might provide and help teachers through assessment and evaluation processes in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) using pre-experimental research through one-group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted at Jose Abad Santos High School in Manila, Philippines during the third grading period of the researcher’s practicum. The sample of the study consists of 20 students selected through the purposive sampling technique. Quantitative and qualitative data analyses were employed. The instruments used in the study were a teacher-made quiz, CATs sample assessment as the treatment, and the perception survey questionnaire (PSQ) regarding the CATs. The result revealed that there is a significant difference between the pre-evaluation and post-evaluation after the CATs implementation. In the post-evaluation, the mean score was significantly higher than the pre-evaluation, which indicates that the CATs improved the performance of students in MAPEH. On the other hand, as revealed in the PSQ, the students regarded the CATs positively. It shows, in this case, that CATs are a great alternative to traditional assessments. Other CATs to be developed and implemented for better learning and effective teaching are recommended.

Abstract

The study reveals that there will be shift in pharma-marketing trends in post COVID-19 era. The crisis of COVID-19, which responded in lockdowns and social distancing, highlighted in some key elements in the digital transformation of healthcare. Therewith the marketing techniques changes totally in the field of pharmaceuticals. As, this is an explorative research so qualitative data has been used for conducting the research. Secondary sources of data are used for analysis and interpretation and to develop the theoretical framework. Deductive approach is used in reaching the conclusive decision. Review of literature asserted about negative impacts of disruptions throughout the pandemics in past, yet these disruptions have also created some new opportunities. So to survive and to sustain pharmaceutical field and conjugate industries should now focus more on new marketing tactics, to counter COVID-19 side effects. Findings of the study educe that pharmaceutical industry could encounter the global pandemic by the shifts in pharma marketing strategies including advanced marketing, digital marketing, e-detailing customer relationship management, e-sampling, innovative work behavior, telemedicine revolution in order to promote product value and expediting prescriptions to the target consumer. So, coping up with the new normal and digitalizing the possible aspects of health care and medicines including techniques of pharma-marketing can be advantageous for both individuals and organizations.

Abstract

The advent of the current COVID-19 pandemic almost halted the education process between teachers and students. Nonetheless, the government strived and overcame all the challenges posited by the pandemic and forged forward to continue the learning experience of students. This paper introduces the proposal entitled Project NEW-NORMAL which will provide substantial support in the learning modalities of students and cater the basic needs of teachers and students for the teaching and learning process. Different learning modalities provided various avenues to the learners to the most convenient and available modes of learning to which they preferred to select and experience. Printed learning modality was one the options where provision of self-learning modules is necessary that could stand without the help of the teachers. Likewise, digitized learning modality offered the utilization of technological platform through social networking sites, media, fora, etc. to download the materials provided by the teachers and the Department. The increased of technological and adversity quotients created a strong hold to face the current situation brought by the pandemic.

Abstract

Even though African Traditional Religion and Cultural family life seem to have been detached from the indigenous Africans, with many reasons accounting for such a detach, the attempts made by the new wave of Christianity is paramount, under the cloak of salvation and better life. The paper focuses on the steps taken by Pentecostal-Charismatics in Africa to decouple African Traditional Religion and Culture from the family life of Africans in a disguised manner. The paper begins with the retrospection of African Traditional Religion as the religion with belief of the forefathers concerning the existence of the Supreme Being, divinities, Spirit beings, Ancestors, and mysterious powers, good and evil and the afterlife. It then walks readers through the encounter between Christianity and ATR and come out that Christianity from its earliest history has maintained a negative attitude toward ATR. The paper again explores that the traditional understanding of the African family system is portrayed in the common believe system and the functions of the family components. Again, the paper further unravels decoupling measures such as reaching the masses for audience, demonization of African the world of the spirit, demonization of African elders, pastors assuming the traditional position of elders of African families are the factors that are being taken to ensure the taking away of African traditional religious and family life from Africans. The paper again discusses the adverse effects of these decoupling factors on Africans. The paper concludes that Traditional African family patterns are slowly but progressively being altered as a result of the process of the decoupling strategies
