Abstract

This descriptive study was conducted to obtain baseline data on the rice production practices in the identified barangays of Cawayan, Masbate for the government to offer real-time intervention. A structured survey questionnaire was used to gather information on the socio-demographic characteristics and rice production practices of the farmers. Aging farmers in the three barangays of Cawayan were observed with an age ranging from 50–60 years old. About 61% of them are classified as small-scale farmers and been tilling the land for more than 31 years. Despite the years they have been in farming, they still belong to the poorest sector with a monthly family income of PHP 800.00. About 96% of the farms in the identified barangays are rain-dependent. Majority of the farmers find difficulty in identifying the variety they are using, and 73% of them used seeds from their previous harvest as planting materials. Land preparation is done through the use of animal-drawn plows and employs direct seeding to minimize expenses. The manual method of controlling weeds, insect pests, and harvesting was practiced by the farmers. The application of fertilizer employed by the farmers is not based on the recommended rate. In totality, farmers obtained breakeven or negative income from their production. The gaps in the farming practices of the farmers can be filled through a holistic and sustainable extension program like Mag-Uma Kaupod ang Pamilya (Farming Together with the Family) in which family members are involved in agricultural production to achieve sufficient and sustainable food for all.

Abstract

Field trial on tomato production was conducted under two sources of fertilizer through integrated application with and without mulching material to measure the growth, productivity and profitability of the said crop in the province of Masbate. The study was laid in a two-factor factorial Randomized Complete Block Design. Fertilizer treatments were tested in treatment of mulching (rice straw and control). The factorial treatment combinations were as follows: A1B1 - no fertilizer and without mulching; A2B1 - complete fertilizer without mulching; A3B1 - goat manure without mulching; A4B1 - complete fertilizer + goat manure without mulching; A1B2 - no fertilizer and with mulching; A2B2 - complete fertilizer with mulching; A3B2 - goat manure with mulching; A4B2 - complete fertilizer + goat manure with mulching. The study revealed that the treatment that exhibits higher growth (plant height and number of branches) and yield (38.41 t/ha.) is in the treatment under complete fertilizer + goat manure. The same treatment also obtained higher number of fruits (543) and higher number of marketable fruits (424) per treatment with significant difference. In terms of the fruit size, length and diameter of the tomato, complete fertilizer + goat manure shows dominant effect. Profitability showed significant difference between treatments were the complete fertilizer + goat manure, complete fertilizer, goat manure, and control got 1,334, 1,265.15, 517.51 and 52.20 respectively. Therefore, the integration of organic (goat manure) and synthetic fertilizer (Triple 14) will enhance the yield of the tomato in Masbate and it is highly profitable.

Abstract

The study identified the effectiveness of implementing curfew in the Municipality of Dilasag adopted from the Executive Order (E.O.) No. 2020-0025 s.2020 from the Provincial Government of Aurora. It was focused on the profile, the implementation of curfew regarding security, discipline, health, and crimes, and the citizens' recommendations as part of the research. The study used the descriptive research method to identify the perceptions of 359 respondents selected by Slovin's formula and systematic random sampling who had also answered the survey questionnaire. The average weighted mean revealed that curfew implementation was effective and improved the community's security, discipline, health, and crime prevention. The chi-square test as the utilized statistical treatment revealed that profile such as sex, educational attainment, and occupation has no significant difference in implementing a curfew. However, it was shown in the study that age profile has a highly significant difference in health and crime prevention and has a significant difference in security and discipline. Furthermore, the study signified that the age group was correlated to the curfew implementation, that older respondents perceived a high level of effectiveness of curfew implementation compared to younger respondents. Finally, parents' participation is an important recommendation and is still needed to improve curfew implementation in the community., and supporting political and security stability.

Abstract

This research entitled Concessionaires Satisfaction on General Santos City Water District Services focuses on determining the level of satisfaction of their active members with the quality services provided by GSCWD. In addition, the researchers conducted this study to know the relevance and relationship of concessionaires' level of satisfaction when grouped according to demographics and the improvements that the active members recommended to GSCWD services. Furthermore, this is a descriptive correlational study with a quantitative approach. Using a customer feedback survey, the researchers gathered the necessary data for this study. The researchers utilized an online sampling calculator to determine the total number of respondents from the active members of this study. A total of three hundred eighty-two (382) respondents were intended for the sample size from different barangays with active connections in General Santos City. Feedback survey questionnaires were distributed randomly to residents and business owners in different barangays until the researchers reached the quota. Upon completing the survey, the researchers found out that the GSCWD has a high level of customer satisfaction, as a result of which they strongly agree that the services provided are of high quality. Moreover, the relationship between a concessionaire's employment status and customer satisfaction level is insignificant, implying that it has no direct influence on customer satisfaction. However, age, sex, and classification of concessionaire's service connection have a significant relationship with the level of customer satisfaction, indicating that it directly impacts customer satisfaction. In line with these, the researchers, therefore, conclude that the concessionaires are greatly satisfied and that GSCWD can provide high-quality water services. Furthermore, age, sex, and classification of a concessionaire's service connection are essential factors in determining concessionaires' expectations and perceptions of GSCWD's various services.

Abstract

Health Information Systems (HIS) are vital in making or developing the policies of health programs in the Philippines. The HIS is broadly defined as a system that integrates data collection, processing, reporting, and use of the information necessary for improving health service effectiveness and efficiency through better management at all levels of health services. This study is conducted to visualize the current situation of the health information system users in public health facilities in the Province of Bataan. It endeavors to answer on how the health facilities in the Province are described based on their report platform, the number of personnel, trained and untrained per facility, and the needs of the facilities when it comes to the training of the encoders. The researchers used the descriptive method specifically the Dashboarding, Analysis, and Reporting or DAR method for this study. This study focused on the data gathered from the Health Information Systems Assessment Tool. The assessment was conducted with 24 different health facilities in the Province of Bataan. The study revealed that 14 out of 24 (58%) of the Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the Province of Bataan used paper-based reporting while 10 out of 24 (42%) of the RHUs used a health information system. Twenty one out of 48 encoders (44%) are untrained while 27 out of 48 (56%) are trained. Capability training in each health information system used is proposed. In conclusion, the Province of Bataan is supporting the implementation of the use of health information systems (HIS) by designating encoders for every public health facility.

Abstract

Learning is weak not because learning is weak. Learning becomes weak because the modules were not prepared to become self-directed. The goal of this design and development project was to create a self-directed statistics and probability instructional module. Data were gathered from teachers, learners, and experts. The data-gathering instruments were Competency Checklist, Students’ and Experts’ Evaluation Checklist, and Reflection Guide. According on teacher perceptions, a survey of the learners' five least-mastered competencies served as the foundation for the development of the module. This module was pilot tested on a group of Grade 11 learners. Learners utilized the module at home and were asked to answer the exercises. Learners took pictures and short videos while they were answering the module. Afterward, learners evaluated the module. In order to assess the module's level of acceptability, experts were requested to complete the Expert's Evaluation Checklist. Thematic analysis, rank, the mean, and standard deviation were all used as data analysis tools. The results show that the following were the five least-mastered competencies: solving problems involving confidence interval of the population mean, solving problems involving regression analysis, solving problems involving sample size determination, solving problems that require population proportion test of hypothesis, and solving problems involving correlation analysis. Additionally, the experts rated the produced module's acceptability as "highly acceptable." While the learners gave the module a "highly acceptable" rating. As a result, the developed module is appropriate for assisting learners in performing the competencies in the area of Statistics and Probability. It is recommended that teachers should use the Self-directed instructional module for whatever mode of learning their school will have.

Abstract

The global economy in recent years has shown a downward trend and is predicted by the World Bank to become a recession in 2023. As a global economic phenomenon, this condition will affect every country, including Indonesia’s. This study analyzed the ability of Indonesia's economic fundamentals in a qualitative descriptive and literature study based on five indicators of the economic crisis, namely: economic growth, the exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar; inflation; economic growth; and total foreign debt, by comparing conditions during the economic crisis in 1998 and 2008, with Indonesia's current economic situation (in 2022). The results of this study indicated that Indonesia's economic condition is considered quite ready and stable to face the threat of a global economic crisis in 2023. However, as a country that depends on global economic relations, Indonesia will indirectly or directly impact the economic fluctuations and inflation that occur in many countries during the crisis because the economic crisis will have social and political impacts. This research suggests that Indonesia should focus on maintaining economic continuity in the real sector, maintaining the supply of basic needs at the community level, building economic independence by encouraging more production, and supporting political and security stability.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic hit the world including Indonesia, in a period of approximately 2 years, pandemic had negative impact. One of the businesses that was greatly affected was the tourism sector in Indonesian provinces, some were still able to survive, but some were not, due to sluggish demand for the tourism sector, the implementation of the PPKM (Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions) policy, prohibiting crowds, and even being prohibited from leaving the house if it's not an emergency, of course all of that has impact on the wheels of the economy temporarily, but the cost of living must still run. This study analyzes secondary data from news, books, scientific journals and data published by government. The point of the finding is that pandemic has had major impact on tourism sector. Because during the pandemic, many activities were online, thus reducing the number of tourist visits and that had impact on incoming income. Because changes in the way of transactions can reduce customer interest, inflation reduces people's purchasing power, and number of unemployed increases because many businesses are not operational, this causes economy to decline. The government must have best strategy to stabilize the wheels of the economy, indeed, it is not easy, there must be a big struggle and hard effort to rise, it can be through the policies & regulations that are enforced, the spirit of fighting, supporting each other according to each other's roles & responsibilities, so that the economy recovered.
