Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) over the past decade has driven significant transformations in educational practices, particularly through the implementation of personalized learning. This article aims to comprehensively examine the utilization of AI in supporting adaptive, learner-centered personalized learning and to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with its implementation. This study adopts a literature review approach by analyzing relevant peer-reviewed journal articles retrieved from Google Scholar published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that the application of Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Adaptive Learning Management Systems, and Generative AI enables the dynamic adaptation of learning content, pacing, and learning pathways based on individual learner profiles, thereby enhancing learner engagement, learning efficiency, and academic achievement. Furthermore, the role of educators is shifting from content delivery toward facilitation and mentoring of the learning process. Nevertheless, the integration of AI in education also presents critical challenges, including data privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, AI hallucinations, and the risk of depersonalization in learning environments. This article underscores the importance of adopting a human-centered and ethical approach to AI integration to ensure that personalized learning is implemented effectively, equitably, and sustainably.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT are increasingly integrated into EFL academic writing; however, empirical evidence regarding students’ perceptions, challenges, and ethical considerations remains limited. This study examines EFL university students’ perceptions of using ChatGPT in academic writing, focusing on perceived usefulness, challenges, and ethical awareness. Employing a case study design, data were collected through close-ended and open-ended questionnaires administered to EFL students. The findings indicate that students perceive ChatGPT as supportive for idea generation, grammatical accuracy, text organization, and time efficiency. Nevertheless, challenges related to the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated information were identified, highlighting the need for critical evaluation. In addition, students reported agreement with ethical considerations, particularly regarding plagiarism awareness and the view that ChatGPT should function as a supplementary tool rather than a primary source. Overall, the findings suggest that ChatGPT can support EFL academic writing when used critically and ethically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze grammatical errors produced by Indonesian EFL university students in their English-speaking assignments. The data were obtained from students’ speaking videos collected from mid-term and final tests at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional, Denpasar, Bali. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study employed error analysis based on the surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen, which classifies errors into omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. A total of 50 grammatical errors were identified, with misformation errors occurring most frequently, followed by omission, addition, and misordering errors. The findings indicate that students experience difficulties in selecting appropriate grammatical forms during spontaneous oral production, particularly in verb forms, subject–verb agreement, comparative constructions, and sentence structure. These errors reflect learners’ developing interlanguage and their tendency to prioritize fluency over grammatical accuracy in spoken communication. The study suggests that explicit grammar instruction integrated into speaking activities and systematic corrective feedback may help improve students’ grammatical accuracy in English speaking performance.

Abstract

This study is motivated by ongoing quality issues in Islamic education, particularly the limited effectiveness of supervision as an integral component of the educational management system. In practice, supervision is often reduced to a mere administrative activity, which undermines its potential role in improving educational quality. This article aims to conceptually examine Islamic education supervision within the framework of educational quality management by addressing the following key questions: (1) how is supervision conceptually positioned within Islamic education quality management, and (2) what strategic roles does supervision play in strengthening educational quality governance? Using a qualitative approach through a literature review and conceptual analysis of relevant scholarly sources, this study finds that Islamic education supervision holds a strategic function as a mechanism of control, evaluation, and quality assurance within the management system. Beyond monitoring, supervision serves as a managerial instrument that supports the sustainable enhancement of governance and quality improvement in Islamic educational institutions. This article contributes theoretically to the discourse on Islamic education supervision and offers managerial insights for strengthening quality management practices.

Abstract

This study discusses the limited understanding of the role of tradition and culture in shaping the population pattern of the community in Gonda Baru Village, Sorawolio District, Baubau City. Local traditions and culture are believed to have a significant influence on the pattern of marriage, birth, death, and population mobility, but scientific studies on this matter are still rare. This study aims to find out the extent to which tradition and culture play a role in determining the population pattern of the people in the region. The method used is qualitative research with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Respondents consisted of traditional leaders, village officials, and communities selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study show that local traditions, such as marriage customs, kinship systems, birth rituals, and death ceremonies, are still very influential in regulating population patterns. This tradition has an impact on the high rate of young marriages, limited control over the number of births, and strong social ties in managing migration and population mobility. In addition, the available infrastructure also affects people's mobility patterns, but cultural values remain the dominant factor. Tradition and culture play an important role in shaping the population pattern in Gonda Baru Village, both in terms of marriage, birth, death, and mobility. Therefore, development policies and population planning in this region need to consider local wisdom so that the programs designed can run effectively and in accordance with the cultural values of the community.

Abstract

This study explored the perceptions of sixth-semester students from the English Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University regarding the use of ChatGPT as a translation tool. With the increasing integration of AI technologies into education, understanding students' experiences and attitudes toward such tools is essential, particularly as empirical studies on students’ perceptions of AI-based translation tools in higher education remain limited. This study employed a quantitative approach using a structured questionnaire that measured four aspects: ease of use, usefulness, effectiveness, and attitude. The participants consisted of 93 students, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that the students held an overall positive perception of ChatGPT. The highest mean score was found in the ease-of-use category, indicating that students found the tool user-friendly and accessible. The usefulness and attitude categories also received positive responses, while the effectiveness category scored slightly lower, suggesting some limitations in translation accuracy. These results highlight the growing role of AI-based tools in language learning and support the use of ChatGPT as a supplementary translation resource.
