Abstract

Here is the English translation of your text: This study aims to analyze a human trafficking case involving Timorese migrant workers in Malaysia using the human rights approach developed by Eleanor Roosevelt. This approach emphasizes the importance of protecting, respecting, and fulfilling the fundamental rights of every individual, particularly those in vulnerable positions. In this study, a qualitative research method is employed with a case study approach, which includes document analysis, in-depth interviews with stakeholders, and participatory observation of the conditions of the migrant workers. The research findings indicate that Timorese migrant workers often fall victim to various forms of exploitation, such as forced labor, inhumane working conditions, unfair wages, and minimal legal protection from both the sending and receiving countries. This situation reflects a serious violation of the fundamental principles of human rights. This study makes an important contribution to uncovering the ongoing dynamics of human trafficking in Southeast Asia, particularly targeting migrant labor groups. Furthermore, the findings provide several policy recommendations, including the need for stronger bilateral agreements between labor-sending and labor-receiving countries, increased oversight of recruitment agencies, and human rights education for prospective migrants. Thus, it is hoped that the protection of Timorese migrant workers can be significantly improved.

Abstract

This article analyzes the roles of Mary and Martha from the perspective of Luke 10:38-42, which depicts two different attitudes in welcoming the arrival of Jesus: action (Martha) and contemplation (Mary). This research aims to analyze the differences between these two attitudes and how they can be applied in the lives of today's youth. Using a literature review method, this study examines the importance of action and contemplation in the spiritual and daily lives of young people. The results of the study show that these two attitudes complement each other. Both have strong relevance in providing guidance for the younger generation to achieve a balance between dynamic social activity and deep spiritual experience. This offers important insight into how young people can find harmony in a life full of demands and challenges while maintaining their closeness to God.

Abstract

Study results from the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) show that 70% of 15 year old students are below minimum competency in understanding simple reading or applying basic mathematical concepts. Based on these results, the Indonesian Government, in this case the Minister of Education, offers an independent curriculum to formal education institutions. Catholic elementary schools in Malang City have implemented it, including in Catholic religious education lessons starting in 2022-2023. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Catholic religious learning based on the independent curriculum, especially in terms of flexible curriculum indicators, project-based learning, active learning, and teacher competency in implementing the independent curriculum. The method used is descriptive qualitative with Colaizzi model analysis, through several steps, namely: verbatim, coding, data extract, theme formulation, description. The results obtained are that the independent curriculum has been implemented, with several indicators, namely a flexible curriculum has been implemented, but there are school principals who do not understand the implementation of the independent curriculum. Project-based learning has been implemented well, but the obstacle is time constraints. Learning has been actively carried out but teachers are less creative in involving students. Catholic religious education teachers have competence in the pedagogical, professional, personal, social and technological fields but find it difficult to provide good examples or role models as competent teachers. In conclusion, the independent Catholic religious learning curriculum has been implemented but is not yet optimal.

Abstract

In the post-truth era, Christian witness faces an acute epistemological crisis caused by digital disinformation, emotional manipulation, and populist rhetoric. This study proposes Martyria Digitalis as an original theological framework for rethinking Catholic witness within digital culture. Rather than viewing testimony as a purely personal expression of faith, this model interprets it as a public, prophetic act of resistance against systemic falsehood. Employing a systematic theological approach in dialogue with digital communication phenomena and anti-Catholic narratives, the research identifies five core characteristics of Martyria Digitalis: epistemic courage to confront relativism, perseverance in defending truth amid unpopularity, sensitivity to the narrative dynamics of social media, performative humility that rejects false piety, and prophetic consistency as a marker of integrity. These findings yield significant pastoral implications, including the urgency of integrating digital formation into catechesis, fostering media discernment skills, and developing Church communication strategies rooted in truth and compassion. Ultimately, Martyria Digitalis offers a relevant and contextually grounded paradigm for Catholic witness, equipping believers to engage critically and faithfully in contemporary digital culture.

Abstract

People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) are a vulnerable group who often experience stigma and discrimination in society. In facing this difficult situation, PLWHA need to have adequate self-resilience to survive and be productive. PLWHA have undertaken various activities to improve their self-resilience. One of the routine monthly activities is Bible sharing. However, the model used is still conventional and not contextualized to the spiritual needs and experiences of PLWHA. This qualitative research using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach aims to construct a model of Bible sharing as a strategy to improve the self-resilience of PLWHA. Ten informants participated in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation. An in-depth analysis of the self-resilience of PLWHA in the Flores Plus Support Group (PSC) in Maumere revealed that they experience negative self-image, psychological distress, future concerns, and social withdrawal. Regarding Bible sharing activities to date, PLWHA provided critical comments, particularly regarding the lack of talented facilitators and the involvement of monks and nuns, as well as the lack of supporting resources such as monotonous guiding questions and a lack of technological tools. These results indicate the urgent need for a Bible sharing model to enhance the self-resilience of PLWHA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and unconditional positive regard according to Carl Rogers and its relevance to the personality development of Generation Z. They live in a digital world with pressures, performative culture, and a high need for validation. The study used qualitative methods. The qualitative method consisted of a literature review of books on Christian theology, humanistic psychology, and related scientific articles, as well as an in-depth questionnaire distribution to six respondents. Six informants from Generation Z experienced struggles with self-identity, social anxiety, and interpersonal relationship dynamics. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach to identify recurring patterns of meaning. The results showed that Christ's unconditional love provides a strong spiritual foundation for Generation Z's identity and self-esteem. Both concepts affirm that they are loved unconditionally based on their dignity as God's creations, not on performance or achievement. Meanwhile, Rogers' unconditional positive regard offers a practical psychological framework for personality development, particularly in the development of self-acceptance, empathy, and healthy relationships. This study found that the integration of these two concepts resulted in a comprehensive mentoring model for Generation Z, which helps them manage emotional distress, build authentic relationships, and find their wholeness amidst the intense flow of digitalization. These findings emphasize the importance of dialogue between theology and psychology as complementary approaches in the personality development of the contemporary generation.

Abstract

Participation and Understanding of Catholic Youth in the Sacrament of Penance: A Case Study in St Peter and Paul Minomartani Parish. This study aims to determine the level of participation of Catholic Youth of St Peter and Paul Parish in the service of the Sacrament of Penance. This research uses a quantitative method. The researcher distributed questionnaires in the form of Google Forms containing a series of questions that had been prepared by the researcher to each Catholic Youth of St Peter and Paul Minomartani Parish. The results of this study show that most of the Catholic Youth in St Peter and Paul Minomartani Parish already have a good understanding of the Sacrament of Penance as a means to obtain forgiveness from God. However, despite this understanding, most young Catholics only receive the Sacrament of Penance at certain times, such as during Lent and Advent, or when they are at school or work, where there is an encouragement or opportunity to access this sacrament. This finding indicates the need for a deeper deepening of faith to help the Catholic Youth of St Peter and Paul Parish to appreciate the meaning and importance of the Sacrament of Penance.

Abstract

On the one hand, Marian devotion is an integral part of the Catholic faith. On the other hand, the apostolate is part of the very nature of the Church's vocation. In practice, the correlation between the two is often overlooked. Marian devotion and other forms of religious devotion should have implications on the apostolate. The faithful need to be helped to discover the implications of their Marian devotion (and other forms of devotion) on the apostolate. To that end, It is necessary to provide examples of how marian devotion influences the apostolate. One lay apostolate group founded on marian devotion is the Legion of Mary. In the Legion's apostolate, Mary plays a role. This study aims to articulate the mariological foundations of Mary's role in the apostolate of the Legion of Mary. Before articulating the mariological foundation, it is necessary to first articulate Mary's role in the apostolate of the Legion of Mary. In articulating these two points, we use a qualitative approach, specifically a critical analysis of relevant documents. After that, we theologize about Mary's role in the apostolate of the Legion of Mary using classical theological methods. We find three roles for Mary in the apostolate of the Legion of Mary, namely leader, example and mediator of all graces. These three roles are mariologically based on Mary’s maternal role over humanity in the order of grace. Mary’s maternal role over humanity is an extension of her maternal role over Jesus.
