Abstract

The sacrament of the anointing of the sick is a significant aspect of the Catholic faith, yet there is a lack of understanding among some believers. This prompted a study to assess the comprehension of the sacrament among the churchgoers of Fransiskus Xaverius Klabat Outpost, St. Fransiskus de Sales Kokoleh Parish, and explore ways to enhance their understanding. The study utilized qualitative research methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation studies, with data sourced from the St. Fransiskus Xaverius Klabat Outpost. The findings revealed that the sacrament is intended to provide healing and strength from God to those who are ill, with the priest responsible for preparing holy oil, blessing water, and a prayer formula, and the recipient expected to have candles, crosses, water, salt, and a readiness to receive the sacrament. The graces of the sacrament include healing, strength, and forgiveness of sins. Pastoral efforts, such as brief catechesis, are being implemented to help people understand the meaning, purpose, essential elements, and fruits of the sacrament of anointing the sick.

Abstract

This research examines the effect of implementing Problem-based Learning (PBL) in the Statistics course on the interest of Catholic Religious Education (CRE) prospective teachers students at the Sekolah Tinggi Agama Katolik Negeri Pontianak in conducting quantitative research. This study was conducted in response to the low interest of students in conducting quantitative research. In this study, student interest was measured using a 4-point Likert scale that reflects the highest phase of interest, which is well-developed individual interest. The results of the research show that the implementation of PBL in the Statistics course has a moderate impact on the interest of PKK students in conducting quantitative research. In the discussion, this research reveals that PBL encourages collaboration, concept understanding, and problem-solving together, which increases students' interest in conducting quantitative research. Furthermore, the research results also indicate that PBL makes the Statistics course more engaging and less boring for students who were previously hesitant about mathematics.

Abstract

Usage smartphone have positive and negative influences. Use which are not in accordance with their function can have an impact on OMK worship activities at Maria Ratu Lolah Peace Lolah Parish. This research is to find out how to usesmartphone OMK, OMK worship activities, and how big the influence of usesmartphone on OMK worship activities at Maria Ratu Lolah Peace Lolah Parish. The method used for this research is quantitative research. The respondents were all OMK in Lolah Mary Queen Peace Parish which was determined by the Slovin formula so that the total number of respondents was 175 OMK with a total of 310 OMK. The research instrument used is by distributing questionnaires or questionnaires with alternative answers to variable X (usesmartphone) namely Strongly Agree (4), Agree (3), Disagree (2), and Disagree (1) and alternative answers to variable Y (worship activities) namely Always (4), Often (3), Rarely (2) , and Never (1). Simple linear regression analysis. The research results obtained show that the usesmartphone OMK obtained a calculated coefficient of 0.86 and was in the very good category, OMK worship activities obtained a calculated coefficient of 0.90 and were in a very good category as well as the influence of usingsmartphone towards worship activities with a determination coefficient of 0.467. From these results, by looking at the coefficient interval, it is categorized as moderate with a percentage of 46% and 54% influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Interest in learning is one of the main things that can support the learning process. In fact, there are still many students who feel bored with learning and are bored because the way of learning is still conventional. This relates to the curriculum used by schools because one of the supporting factors for increasing student interest in learning is the curriculum. This research was conducted at St. Francis Xavier Seminary Kakaskasen High School, to find out how the implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum for Increasing Student Interest in Class X, supporting and inhibiting factors and efforts to increase student learning interest in implementing the Free Learning Curriculum. The type of method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The research results obtained are that the Free Learning Curriculum has been implemented in the Catholic High School Seminary of St. Francis Xavier Kakaskasen. In addition, there are supporting factors such as availability platform independent teaching, the existence of IHT activities or outreach, and inhibiting factors such as lack of internet access and computer room and inadequate infrastructure. As for the efforts made by the school, namely carrying out mock study activities for teachers at SMA N 8 Manado, teachers must be more creative in the learning process, and regarding the provision of infrastructure. Thus conclusions can be drawn including: First, the Free Learning Curriculum has been implemented in Seminary High Schools which is marked by the existence of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project activity. Second, there are factors that influence the implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum for the sake of increasing student learning interest which are described in supporting and inhibiting factors. Third, the efforts made by the school are carrying out replicated studies at other schools regarding the Free Learning Curriculum, the way teachers create fun learning, and the provision of supportive school facilities.

Abstract

As a communion of believers, the Catholic Church uses a variety of faith-enhancing strategies to uphold the beliefs of its members. One of those efforts is developing a local ecclesial lifestyle calledBasic Ecclesial Community. The Sintang Diocese employs the term “Lingkungan” (English: neighborhood) or "Kring" to foster faith at the local level. The “Lingkungan” and Basic Ecclesial Community have unique traits or indicators regarding their comprehension and application. This study aimed to determine whether the “Lingkungan” may develop into a Basic Ecclesial Community. The intention was to gain more recognition for the Basic Ecclesial Community as a fresh approach to spiritual development, particularly for the people who live in the Lingkungan Familia, Santo Ignatius Pala Island, Hati Santa Perawan Maria Tak Bernoda Parish, the Diocese of Sintang. The research method is descriptive-qualitative. This research uses observations and interviews as data sources. The subject is ten credible informants. Utilizing the theories from encyclical documents and scientific references, this research concludes that with all its potencies, Lingkungan Familia could flourish more by developing Basic Ecclesial Communities.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the understanding of Catholic Religion teachers’ candidates on the implementation of human rights in their relation to human rights issues such as gender, ideology, and religious minorities. The questions are: first, to what extent do students understand human rights and how do they apply that understanding in approaching human rights issues? Second, how do they transfer the understanding they have especially if those understandings are linked to the Church's views that are closely related to these issues? These questions were analyzed by qualitative research using open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. From the results of data processing, it was found that the students had an understanding of human rights and implemented that understanding in their relations with groups of different religions with an attitude of tolerance, acceptance of differences and respect. However, with regard to sensitive issues such as gender, banned political parties or organizations and Local Religion, they still use textual understandings. The main reason is that they rarely come face to face with those who have this gender identity, ideology and religion. Another factor is their lack of understanding of the inclusive view of the Church on these issues. Finally, the detailed implication and research suggestions are included necessary to accommodate meeting spaces to raise the spirit of humanity (through which principles of human rights, especially Freedom of Religion and Belief, are promoted) that is much more inclusive and offer more inclusive interpretations and attitudes of the Catholic Church towards these issues.by peer scholars, especially in the same field of research

Abstract

This research explores efforts to empower Catechist students in facing the challenges of the digital age, focusing on developing blessing skills through a digital catechesis approach. This study used qualitative methods and phenomenological approaches to involve Catechist students as the main participants. The program "Empowering Catechist Students for New Evangelization" is designed to enhance Catechist students' understanding of blessing skills, especially in the use of digital media. After engaging in the program, the results showed a significant change in the catechist students' understanding of blessing skills. Specialized training and hands-on practice with digital catechesis have had a positive impact, enabling Catechist students to be more effective in conveying the message of evangelization. This improvement in skills has also been found to contribute to the courage of Catechist students in facing communication challenges in the digital age. The conclusion of this study provides a foundation for a deeper understanding of the importance of developing blessing skills in dealing with changing contexts of religious communication. The practical implications involve improving the blessing skills training program and adjusting the catechesis curriculum to facilitate the adaptation of Catechist students to the evolving digital environment. As a result, Catechists are expected to be more effective and relevant in carrying out the mission of evangelization in this digital era.

Abstract

Keywords: Role of the Catechist; Challenge; Digital Catechesis This research aims to find the role of catechists in the challenge of digital catechesis. In PKKI X, this awareness can be seen in the form of communication in catechesis finding new ways, namely digital communication. The Church sees the digital era, not only in terms of opportunities in terms of new ways of catechesis, but the Church also remains alert to the challenges in digital catechesis. These challenges certainly have a negative impact on the life of faith. Modern developments in the digital world have made humans experience memory loss or amnesia. Today's humans live in an all-digital era, making themselves dominated by technological networks. Modern humans only consist of flesh, bodies and machines, this is what makes them wrong. Humans actually have spiritual power. In order to restore people's memory of their identity as human beings who are noble and have spirituality, catechesis becomes a learning process to become more human. The Church must play an active role in the challenge of digital catechesis. So that negative impacts in the life of faith can be reduced and handled well, all lines in the Church must be involved in responding to this challenge, including a catechist. The catechist is the spearhead of the people, because the catechist understands the real situation that the people are experiencing. The challenges of digital catechesis influence the work of catechesis for the people. In the era of digital catechesis, catechists need to be involved and take a role in facing challenges in digital catechesis. This research is included in qualitative research with documentation methods. Data collection in this research was by finding data in documents related to the theme. After the data is collected, the next step is analyzing the data and interpreting the data. Based on the research results, it was found that in facing the challenges of digital catechesis, three important roles were found in a catechist. These roles are in the form of; a catechist must be able to master digital, the catechist becomes a facilitator who leads the people to an encounter with God, and the catechist becomes a partner of the Imams in the work of digital catechesis. This role is where a catechist should carry out his duties in the challenges of digital catechesis.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the spiritual connection between the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the catechetical work of the Congregation of Sisters of Catechists of the Sacred Heart. Through an in-depth research approach and theological reflection, this article explores the spiritual values ​​contained in the Sacred Heart of Jesus which can enrich the sisters' catechetical work towards the congregation. The Sacred Heart of Jesus and Catechesis have a significant relationship. This can be seen from the spiritual values ​​of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which can be used as catechesis material and have an impact on the growth and life of faith of the people. To achieve this goal, the author uses literature analysis. Through literature analysis in exploring the values ​​of the Sacred Heart of Jesus contained in the Holy Scriptures, Church teachings, the Constitution of the Congregation of the Catechist Sisters of the Sacred Heart and the spiritual experiences of the saints, the author finds that the spiritual values ​​of the Sacred Heart of Jesus can be integrated into the work of catechesis.

Abstract

This research discusses Catholic religious education strategies for Generation Z in bringing spiritual meaning to the digital world. Generation Z, characterized by traits such as high-tech skills and distinct learning preferences, faces unique challenges in religious education. The development of digital technology plays a huge role in Generation Z's daily lives, with social media and digital platforms being a major influence. However, there are positive and negative impacts on spirituality and Catholic religious education. The integration of digital technology with Catholic religious education is important. This research explores digital and e-learning theories as well as successful technology integration models in the context of Catholic religious education. Effective pedagogical approaches, interactive strategies, and innovative methods are needed to teach spiritual values ​​through technology. Spiritual meaning in the digital era is the main focus. This research defines spiritual meaningfulness, highlights ways to achieve and maintain it in the digital world, and describes the role of Catholic religious education in this process. This research links religious education theory, the characteristics of Generation Z, and the development of digital technology to formulate effective educational strategies. By understanding the characteristics of Generation Z and the impact of digital technology, Catholic religious education approaches can be adapted to create meaningful learning experiences. Technology integration can be used to strengthen spiritual values ​​and support character formation. In this digital era, Catholic religious education has a vital role in helping Generation Z find and maintain spiritual meaning in their lives.
