Abstract

Unemployment is a social problem that hinders economic growth, including in Bali Province. A high unemployment rate has implications for low-income regions. This study aims to analyze the determinants that affect Bali's unemployment rate via projected population indicators, average length of schooling, and life expectancy. The quantitative method was used to examine secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency. The data were analyzed via multiple linear regression. The results show that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase in population projections, average length of schooling, and life expectancy directly affected the unemployment rate, with an effect size of 89.3%. Furthermore, simultaneous testing revealed an impact between these three indicators and the unemployment rate in Bali during 2020, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a probability of 0.000. In contrast to the partial results, we found that the unemployment rate was affected only by an increase in the projected population. In contrast, the average length of schooling and life expectancy did not have a direct influence. Thus, the unemployment rate in Bali can be lowered via relevant indicators that local governments and policymakers can evaluate. The synergy of other indicators must be applied to further identify determinants.

Abstract

The management of public spaces in Makassar faces challenges in maintaining a balance between modernization and the preservation of local cultural values. This study explores the role of local wisdom, especially the values of Siri' na Pacce, cooperation, and communal solidarity, in maintaining the sustainability of public spaces amid rapid urbanization. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, this study conducts participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to understand social dynamics in the management of public spaces. The results of the study show that despite changes due to urbanization, people still maintain cultural values in the use of public spaces. However, privatization and commercialization threaten community involvement in its management. Changes in social interaction patterns are also seen with the increasing use of digital platforms compared to physical meetings in public spaces. This research recommends culture-based strategies for more inclusive urban planning, by strengthening collaboration between governments, communities, and the private sector to ensure that public spaces remain part of society's social identity. Thus, local wisdom can continue to be the main pillar in maintaining the sustainability of public spaces in Makassar.

Abstract

Balinese handicraft products are synonymous with soul and art based on local wisdom values that become local knowledge and local skills as a form of originality that is not owned by other regions so that it will be easier for companies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage (Ife, 2002; Mardatillah et al., 2020). Wood handicraft SMEs in Bali Province are known to have a high artistic spirit, creativity and innovation and have their own characteristics or uniqueness. The artistic spirit is passed down from generation to generation and is an integral part of the daily activities of the craftsmen. This research uses quantitative research methods, which are based on the positivism paradigm. The analysis continued at the quantitative analysis stage based on multivariate analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS). Problems in the competitive advantage of wood handicraft SMIs in Bali can be seen from their low production value when compared to other existing industries. Bali as a craft center is certainly a large market for consumers both at home and abroad. This of course makes wood handicraft SMIs require a competitive advantage that can be highlighted and become a differentiator with other similar industrial products. This research was conducted on wood handicraft SMIs in Gianyar Regency. This is done because Gianyar is famous for its many wood craftsmen who have a high artistic spirit and creativity. The population of this study was all wood handicraft SMIs in Gianyar Regency which amounted to 476 businesses.

Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic is a human tragedy impacting all life aspects. One of them is education. In Japan, several policies were implemented to address gaps in access to education due to school closures during the pandemic. This article aims to describe the policy of the Japanese government in building a distance learning system that can be accessed equally by all students. This policy is known as The Global and Innovation Gateway for All (GIGA)'s school program. This program carries the concept of "one student, one device.” The method used in this research is document analysis (documentary analysis method) on several reports issued by related ministries and statistical data. From the study results, it can be concluded that this policy successfully reduced the gaps in accessing distance education while creating a new, modern civilization in the teaching process in educational environments in Japan.

Abstract

This study observes the influence of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) towards customer satisfaction and loyalty of banking companies in Indonesia. It investigates how M&A activities affect consumer perceptions, service quality, and brand trust. Using survey data from news articles & customers of companies that have undergone M&A between 2018 and 2023, this study uses a quantitative approach with statistical analysis, including regression models and correlation analysis, to assess shifts in customer sentiment. The results acknowledge that while M&A can create operational efficiencies and expand service offerings, they sometimes lead to short-term decrease in customer satisfaction due to service disturbance and brand identity changes. Customers possibly encounter uncertainty about the product quality, pricing readjustments, and consistency of the service, affecting their general satisfaction. Nevertheless, companies with effective post-M&A combination, containing transparent communication, service consistency, and customer engagement, may maintain customer loyalty. Furthermore, brand reputation and trustworthiness play a big role in building post-M&A consumer behavior. Customers tend to remain loyal when they recognize stability and upgraded benefits after the merger. Though M&A develop opportunities for business growth, they also pose a threat to customer relationships if not executed correctly. Understanding these interactions is essential for companies to direct consumer doubts, enhance customer loyalty strategies, and maximize the long-term advantages of M&A.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance, work stress, and workload on employee performance, with organizational support as a moderation variable. A good work-life balance is expected to improve employee performance, while work stress and high workload tend to lower productivity. Organizational support plays a role in strengthening or weakening the relationship between these variables on employee performance. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method involving 183 employees in certain sectors. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the moderation regression technique. The results of the study show that work-life balance has a positive effect on employee performance, while work stress and workload have a negative effect. In addition, organizational support has been shown to moderate the relationship between work stress and employee performance, as well as between workload and employee performance, by providing a mitigating effect against the negative impact it causes. These findings underscore the importance of organizational policies in creating an optimal work-life balance and providing adequate support to improve overall employee performance

Abstract

The post-pandemic era has brought significant challenges and opportunities for the adoption of digital platforms in education. This study investigates the factors influencing the intention and behavior of lecturers at XYZ University in using Microsoft Teams, utilizing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) framework. Key constructs examined include Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI), Facilitating Conditions (FC), Hedonic Motivation (HM), Learning Value (LV), and Habit (HT). Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to lecturers and students with prior experience using Microsoft Teams and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that Behavioral Intention, Facilitating Conditions, and Habit significantly influence Use Behavior, while the one that significantly influence Behavioral Intention is just Habit alone. Behavioral Intention emerged as a strong predictor of Use Behavior, demonstrating the central role of intention in technology adoption. The study highlights the importance of usability, emotional engagement, and institutional support in fostering sustained adoption of Microsoft Teams. Recommendations for enhancing adoption include improving training programs, ensuring adequate technical support, and integrating features that align with teaching goals and preferences.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of sellers’ and buyers’ knowledge of the pillars of buying and selling manure in Pedekik Village from an Islamic economic perspective. In Islamic transactions (muamalah), buying and selling must meet valid legal requirements to ensure fairness, transparency, and blessings. The research employs a qualitative case study approach using interviews, observations, and documentation. Research subjects include six sellers and five buyers of manure. The findings show that most participants possess limited understanding of Islamic legal provisions, particularly concerning the validity of the transaction object. Unprocessed manure, classified as impure (najis), is frequently traded without proper processing, violating Islamic commercial law. Some actors—especially those with religious or agricultural education—understand that manure must undergo fermentation before it is lawful to trade. This disparity reflects a lack of access to Islamic education, insufficient religious guidance, and minimal entrepreneurial training aligned with sharia. Consequently, many sale and purchase practices remain inconsistent with Islamic principles. From an Islamic economic standpoint, manure may only be sold if it offers clear utility and meets requirements of purity and lawful ownership. The study highlights the need for community education and structured training programs to improve shariacompliant commercial awareness. Collaboration between local authorities, religious leaders, and agricultural extension workers is essential to strengthen knowledge of Islamic economic ethics. Enhancing understanding of valid transactions will help ensure future trade practices in Pedekik Village reflect justice, mutual benefit, and the spirit of halal commerce. Keywords: Sale and Purchase, Manure, Islamic Economics, Community Knowledge, Transaction Terms.
