Abstract

This study aims to enhance the understanding of Christian values among 4th-grade students at SD Negeri 078426 Sanawuyu through the implementation of the picture story method. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of two cycles. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In Cycle I, the students showed a positive response to the picture stories but still relied on the teacher's explanation and were less independent in applying the values. In Cycle II, with an emphasis on group discussions and independent story creation, there was a significant improvement in students' understanding and independence. They were not only able to identify Christian values in the pictures but also developed stories and applied those values independently. The results of the study show that the picture story method, combined with interactive discussions, can enhance the understanding of Christian values and foster students' independence. In conclusion, the use of this method is effective in improving the quality of Christian Education learning in schools.

Abstract

This study explores the role of family in addressing the emotional challenges of children from divorced families, focusing on how family members respond to and manage children's emotions. The research was conducted in Rumah Sokat, Central Maluku, with three children aged 4 to 5, who were observed after experiencing parental divorce. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation to understand the family’s role in supporting emotional well-being. Findings show that family plays a crucial role in shaping children’s emotional development, especially after divorce. Families provide emotional and physical support, helping children manage emotions like anger, sadness, and confusion. The involvement of extended family members, such as grandparents, offers additional emotional stability. The study emphasizes the importance of consistent family engagement, including the broader family network, to ensure the child’s emotional recovery. The research highlights the need for families to create a nurturing environment to help children cope with the emotional impacts of divorce. It also recommends involving community members, such as neighbors and peers, to support the emotional development of children. Increased awareness of family involvement is essential to help children build resilience and healthy emotional coping mechanisms

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between parental social support and the gross motor development of early childhood at PAUD Gideon Wayari. Early childhood is a crucial developmental period often referred to as the "golden age," where optimal stimulation, particularly from the family environment, plays a vital role. Using a quantitative approach, this research involved 15 early childhood participants and applied a questionnaire to assess both parental social support and children’s gross motor skills. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis, revealing a moderate and statistically significant relationship (r = 0.540, p = 0.036) between the two variables. The findings indicate that 29.1% of the variation in children's gross motor skills is explained by the level of social support provided by their parents. This support includes emotional encouragement, physical engagement, and the provision of an enabling environment for active play. The study supports the theoretical framework of Hurlock and Bronfenbrenner, emphasizing the essential role of family in the physical and psychological development of children. Therefore, the active involvement of parents and teachers in creating safe, supportive, and stimulating environments is crucial for optimizing gross motor development in early childhood.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the number of elderly people continues to increase. In facing old age, many elderly people face physical, psychological and spiritual challenges. The church has an important role in fostering faith and providing spiritual support for the elderly. There are special needs of the elderly both physically, psychologically, socially and especially spiritually that need attention. Often these needs have not been met optimally in many places. The existing fellowship for the elderly is still not strong enough and effective in accompanying the elderly and fostering their faith at the end of life. Many elderly whose faith falters, despair or tend to withdraw from church life when facing physical and mental problems in old age. Strategic efforts from the church are needed to strengthen the existing fellowship for the realization of effective faith formation of the elderly. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide input and contributions for churches and elderly fellowship leaders on how to design and implement appropriate strategies in strengthening fellowship for the formation of Christian elderly who remain firm in faith. This research uses qualitative methods with in-depth interview techniques to the elderly of GPIN Bukit Asam Tanjung Enim. The results showed that effective strategies include: Training elderly fellowship leaders, Conducting Bible studies, Conducting home visits to the elderly, Organizing field worship, and Using digital media to share God's word. By implementing the right strategies, the church can strengthen the elderly fellowship to foster the faith of the elderly.

Abstract

Abstract: Student engagement is an important indicator of learning effectiveness; however, various reports show that active student participation in Indonesia remains low. This literature review analyzes the role of humanistic psychology based learning strategies in enhancing student engagement across cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Humanistic psychology, rooted in the ideas of Maslow and Rogers, emphasizes the fulfillment of basic needs, authentic interpersonal relationships, and emotionally safe learning environments as the foundation of meaningful learning. The findings of the literature review indicate that strategies providing autonomy, empathetic communication, reflective learning, and contextual learning experiences can enhance intrinsic motivation, learning interest, and students’ active participation. Several studies also highlight that the quality of teacher student relationships is a decisive factor in engagement, particularly through emotional support, constructive feedback, and a positive classroom climate. In the digital era, the integration of technology that preserves humanistic values has also been shown to strengthen student engagement. Overall, these findings suggest that the humanistic approach makes a significant contribution to improving student engagement and is relevant for application in modern education. This research provides a theoretical and empirical foundation for developing learning practices that are more humanistic, empowering, and oriented toward learners’ needs.   Keywords: humanistic psychology, learning strategies, student engagement, intrinsic motivation

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the role of the Head of the Fine Arts Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya in the development of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum in 2020. The research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, involving the Head of the Study Program, curriculum team lecturers, faculty leaders, and students as the primary data sources. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies of the MBKM curriculum. The findings reveal that the Head of the Study Program functions as a coordinator, motivator, supervisor, and collaborator in the process of designing and implementing the MBKM curriculum. The coordinator role is evident in determining graduate profiles, formulating learning outcomes, and structuring the curriculum to accommodate MBKM activities. The motivator role is reflected in efforts to encourage lecturers and students to participate in MBKM programs and art activities beyond campus. The supervisor role is demonstrated through monitoring the implementation of learning and converting MBKM activities into courses. The collaborator role is shown in developing networks with schools, art communities, and partner institutions as venues for MBKM programs. Supporting factors in the development of the MBKM curriculum include institutional support, lecturer commitment, and student enthusiasm; while obstacles involve limited initial understanding of MBKM policies, administrative challenges in credit conversion, and the availability of suitable partners in the field of fine arts.   Keywords: Role Of Study Program Head, MBKM Curriculum, Fine Arts Education

Abstract

Abstract: Social cohesion is a critical foundation for the realization of meaningful inclusive education; however, challenges such as prejudice, isolation, and unequal group dynamics often hinder its development in the classroom. This conceptual article argues that unplugged pedagogy can serve as an effective and contextual medium to operationalize the core principles of social psychology in building social cohesion. By synthesizing key theories such as the Contact Hypothesis, Social Interdependence Theory, and Social Identity Theory, the article outlines three integration mechanisms: (1) facilitating positive and equal intergroup contact through structured simulations and role-playing; (2) fostering a common ingroup identity through collaborative projects and cooperative problem-solving; and (3) reducing stereotype threat through reflective dialogue and the creation of inclusive classroom norms. A conceptual framework is proposed to map the systematic relationship between psychosocial principles, unplugged activity design, and expected outcomes in classroom climate. This framework serves as a hypothesis that requires further empirical testing. As an integration, the conceptual framework offers a theoretically grounded, practical, and sustainable approach to transforming social dynamics in inclusive classrooms. Its practical implications are directed toward educators in designing learning activities, as well as policymakers and curriculum developers in advancing inclusive education that is not only adaptive but also socially transformative.
