Abstract

Progressive lens is designed to make presbyopia sufferer more comfortable with their glasses as it offers sight assistance that is more natural than bifocal and trifocal do. Progressive lens can remove an object leap, better than bifocal or trifocal does. Beside, it makes vision better in near sight without turbalance in middle or far sight. However, it would not work properly without approriate setting and layout. This study uses library research in gathering relevant data and informations, desciptive approach in discussion. The main source is book authored by Icee titled “Sejarah dan Perkembangan Lensa Progressive”.

Abstract

Refraction error such as myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism with a difference significant diopters are now experienced by a small part of people. That refraction error called anisometropia is caused by many things, such as predetermined at birth, trauma, and even the failure of surgery refraction. On the patient's anisometropia, refraction examination is done by using special Test FRIEND or a test Worth Four Dot. The author uses descriptive method of data libraries, including the essay from Troy E. Fannin, O.D. and Theodore Grosvenor, O.D., Ph.d., titled "Clinical Optics", about the condition of uncorrected anisometropia who has a bi-okuler vision. Essay from AK Khurana entitled "Theory And Practice Of Optics And Refraction" that is about the range of treatments to patient’s anisometropia, so they can see in binoculars vision comfortably.

Abstract

More and more people use contact lenses. Contact lenses are vision aids instead of glasses. In addition to their function that can help correct eye vision, contact lenses can also be used as cosmetics, which can add to a more stylish appearance. Plus, the very affordable price makes many people prefer to use contact lenses over glasses. On the other hand, it turns out that using contact lenses should pay close attention to cleanliness. In other words, using contact lenses is not as easy as wearing glasses. Therefore, many people do not even know wrong when using contact lenses. As a result, many bad effects such as discomfort when wearing it, corneal hypoxia, dry eye syndrome, injury and irritation of the cornea.

Abstract

Cataract is an eye disease that creates hazy eye lenses. This condition often happens due to, among other, too much subjection to ultra violet light without the right sunglasses. Thus, early prevention of cataracts can be conducted by using sunglasses when being outside the room and being in long-term exposure to sunlight. This study aimed to highlight proper ways using sunglases in order to prevent cataract as early as possible.Using librabry research, primarily a book book by Clifford W. Brooks and Irvin M. Borish titled “ System for Ophthalmic Dispensing”, this study discussed the proble and suggest some solutions with desctiptive method.

Abstract

One of the emergence of complaints of vision in patients with astigmatism with the wrong axis is lack of sharp vision, imperfections (distortion) sharp vision, shaded or appearing double when looking at objects. Determination of the axis of astigmatism can be done with blur and cross cylinder techniques. In this paper, the author uses descriptive data collection with literature, one of which is written by Khurana, A. titled “Comprehensive Ophthalmology ". The purpose of the refraction examination technique using the two methods mentioned above in patients with astigmatism is to get comfortable vision for astigmatism sufferers.

Abstract

Multiple soft contact lens options are avaiable for myopia control, from specific myopia control designs to multifocal soft contact lens options. It is important to evaluate the research evidence base for each option. This study was aimed to evaluate the use of disposable-soft contact lense as correction tool to high myopia. This research employed librabry method in gaining data and related informations, then discussed the problem and solution with descriptive approach.

Abstract

Presbyopia is a condition of the eye that loses the ability to focus gradually, to see objects at close range. Presbyopia develops gradually, so someone sometimes just realizes the symptoms after passing the age of 40 years. Glasses are a tool to improve one's visual acuity. The choice of eyeglass frames for progressive lens use for presbyopia is very necessary to prevent inconvenience in using progressive lenses. A progressive lens is a lens where the strength of the lens gradually increases from the far zone, through the corridor to the near zone. In order for progressive lenses to provide optimal performance, first of all, the selection of eyeglass frames is right for the comfort of glasses wearers.

Abstract

Pupil Distance (PD) is measured in millimetres and even a slight variation can cause a number of vision and eye health problems due to inacurately fitting of Distance Vitror (DV). PD must be paralel to DV, therefore PD measurements must be committed throughtly. It requires comprehensive knowledge and technical skill. With the popularity of buying glasses online, a number of websites have come up with do-it-yourself measurements or apps that will take this measurement for you. The problem is that these are not scientifically accurate measurements and are not being performed by professionals. There is a large margin of error and buyers could end up with glasses that hurt their vision—not correct it.This research is aimed to show ideal procedure that must be committed in producing glasses to avoid inacurate PD measurement. The researcher uses library aprroach to gain related data and informations, then discuss the problem and solution in descriptive approach.
