Abstract

Abstract. In December, 28th 2014, QZ 8501 which departed from Ir. Djuanda Airport, Surabaya to Changi International Airport, Singapore encountered machine problems because it hit the Cumulonimbus Cloud which engendered stall and finally crashed down near the Cape Pandan, Kalimantan. Many controversies arose after the tragedy such as QZ 8501 flight permission issued by the ministry of Air Transportation, the downfall of the Air Asia Indonesia profits, decreasing number of Air Asia Indonesia’s load factor and passengers level at the end of 2014 and finally the traumatic problems to the Indonesia society right after the tragedy in terms of their intention to using Air Asia. This study has three aims which are: a) to determine the Domestic customers preferences while choosing Airlines services using Kraskull-Wallist test, b) to understand the current trust and willingness to purchase from the Domestic customers towards Air Asia Indonesia seven months after the tragedy using Qualitative and Quantitative approach and c) trying to examine the relationship between Service Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Corporate Image to the Brand Trust and Purchase Intention towards Air Asia Indonesia from Domestic Customers perspective. The result from this study indicates that a number of common aspects that customers consider while choosing Airlines such as Safety aspects as the main priority. Related to the Customer Brand Trust and Purchase Intention towards Air Asia Indonesia, above 80 percent of respondents still trust and willing to purchase. This research indicates that all of Airlines in Indonesia especially Air Asia Indonesia try to build their new image and get back customers trust by convincing the customers that they already increased their safety especially with the increase of plane accidents happened lately. The flight permission issues for QZ 8501 should be a lesson for all of Airlines in Indonesia to be more submissive to the rules that already made by regulators. Keywords : QZ 8501, Air Asia Indonesia, Brand Trust, Purchase Intention, Service Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Image, Partial Least Square, Kraskull-Wallist,

Abstract

The purpose of this final study is to enhance the synergy of The Compound. Designed with the concept of shared and integrated retail stores, this environment should create a positive overall synergy. however, the fact that there is an atmospheric imbalance and  inter-store relationship issues which resulted in one store’s bankruptcy, indicates that there is an opportunity for improvement for the overall synergy. By means of restoring the balance of The Compound. The first step starts with servicescape approach by reviewing the servicescape of The Compound itself. The purpose is to identify the weaknesses in regard to balance. To acquire such information this study used Zeithaml and Bitner’s theory of servicescape. Servicescape flaws causing the informational and atmospheric imbalance between the fore and the aft are of The Compound, influence the inter-store relationship which are major factor concerning the synergy of The Compound. Furthermore, regarding the interrelationships of the stores which affects the overall synergy, a quantitative approach were used. Defining the levels of interrelationships and the overall synergy. An imbalance occured in the nature of The Compound’s visitors. Traffic imbalance between the fore and the aft. Another imbalance also ocurred in terms of gender ratio. To enhance the synergy, all imbalance must be restored. A way to restore this imbalance is by developing a better servicescape. And to further improve inter-relationship level, in-store promotional strategy is necessary. Only by then the overall synergy will increase. Keywords: Synergy, Servicescape, In-Store Promotion, Marketing, Retail Store.----------------------------DISCLAMER: This paper is created by undergraduate students of School of Business and Management ITB in partial fulfillment of the requirement of the degree Bachelor of Management. Abstract

Yield management is a popular application of total revenue maximization tactics in service industry. Hotel ABC located in Bandung already implemented yield management in 2008 but the management never assessed the effectiveness of the implementation. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to do assessment of yield management effectiveness in Hotel ABC, using the matrix created by Bernard McEvoy and comparison financial reports. The analysis was done with three methods: demand plotting, Bernard McEvoy’s matrix and comparing financial statements. For a high/low cut off comparison, Horwath HTL had provided the figures of financial excerpt of Bandung hotels in 2008. The outcome of the analysis shows that the demand for superior, deluxe rooms in weak season and executive rooms in peak season are elastic. While for the other rooms, the elasticity didn’t belong to any category. In overall, Hotel ABC’s total revenue had increased significantly and 2008 revenue increase is higher than previous years’ increase. Further analysis shows that Hotel ABC still can gain more revenue from sales room in a significant amount. However, Hotel ABC increased operating expenses, while in the same time other Bandung hotels decreased it. It was found that Employees’ salary was the greatest increase in the operating expenses. Abstract

Constructing optimal portfolio to the desired expected return is one of the main concerns of every investor. This research aimed for constructing and comparing two approaches of stocks portfolio optimization model with an addition of risk-free assets on two different models. The classical Markowitz mean-variance model is further compared with an index-tracking model introduced by Edirisinghe. Additional risk-free asset in the portfolio is intended to give investors an option to lower the risk through diversification. The stocks analyzed for the research are stocks traded in Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) under the period of 2007 – 2012. Results shown that additional risk-free asset lowers the risk significantly for both Markowitz and the index-tracking portfolios, with the index-tracking diversified portfolio has a lower risk than the benchmark index. The index-tracking portfolio also gives a higher beta than the Markowitz MV portfolio. This increase in beta depends on the index variance, in this case JKSE variance, and also the asset covariance matrix. During the back testing, the performance of both Markowitz MV portfolio and index-tracking portfolio do not track the index performance. However, the portfolios which use index-tracking method outperform the portfolios constructed using the Markowitz MV model. Keywords: Investment, Index-tracking, Portfolio Optimization, Mean-variance Optimization
