The Indonesia Journal of Business Administration(IJBA) is a business journal that bridges the gap between business research and practice, evaluating and reporting on new research to help readers identify and understand significant trends in their fields. The IJBA seeks to publish papers relating to business, broadly defined. It publishes articles that address both theoretical and practical issues in the broad areas of Business Strategy and Marketing, People and Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, Decision Making and Strategic Negotiation, Operation and Performance Management, and Business Risk and Finance.Contributing academicians and researchers are encouraged to address a variety of concerns relating to all areas of business. We also encourage students to use an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing a topic, which often yields interesting and novel papers. The published articles provide valuable insight into matters of broad intellectual and practical concern to academicians and business professionals. The Journalis published three times a year: in April, July and October. The journal is mainly an outlet of MBA ITB students to publish their final project works, although it also accepts articles written by students at masters level from other institutions. A published paper is an honor that will be unambiguously beneficial for professional and academic careers, especially for those who want to attend graduate/professional schools. This means that papers written in relations to Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Law, Corporate Ethics, and Public Policy all qualify for submission. Abstract

Abstract. Implementation of activities and budgets in the HRDA-EMR has not been in line with expectations. One indication is the absorption of the budget that has not reached the set target and is still concentrated at the end of the budget year. Budget absorption is one indicator that can indicate the success of the program or policy conducted by the HRDA-EMR. By using qualitative descriptive method, this research is intended to analyze the factors that influence budget absorption. This study found that planning, administration and regulatory factors were the main factors affecting budget absorption in all work units at the HRDA-EMR. Good planning and supported by an organized administration will greatly help the level of budget absorption. In addition, internal control system is required from the beginning of planning in order to detect the possibility of early budget absorption failure. Internal control system also has an important role to know the development of budget absorption. Meanwhile, to speed up the absorption of state budget, it is necessary to monitor the control through monitoring and evaluation of activity and budget routinely so that all problems and obstacles during the implementation process of the budget can be found solution and its solution.Keywords: Absorption, Budget, internal control system, monitoring and evaluation

Abstract

Abstract - PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is currently in the process of renewing the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Management and the Trade Unions. The main issue is the extent to which PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), and more specifically the Collective Bargaining Agreement of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), has applied ethical principles that have been endorsed internationally. Studying employee protection is important because employees are arguably the most im[portant company’s assets that would drive performance. This final project is aimed to find out how internationally recognized ethical principles in terms of employee protection have been applied at PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and to propose an improved content of the Collective Bargaining Agreement that incorporates findings from this research to be considered by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). This final project reviewed about the employee protection in PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and UN Global Compact is chosen as the international ethical standard. The result is found that there is significant difference between D1 and D2 units in their perception of employee protection. There is difference of employee perception on employee protection especially for the efforts of handling human rights abuses and knowledge for helping and facilitating to fulfill of human rights abuse reviewed based on units. Two issues that cause significant differences in perception on employee protection in D1 and D2 unit are related to the knowledge (cognitive) and the action (conative) of the company with regard to handling the human rights abuses. It is proposed that the company make articles that discussed about woman employees to protect them from human rights abuses and elimination of forced labour. It is recommended that PT. KAI establish better industrial relations between trade union and management by communicating rights that want to fight for and that PT. KAI invite activists from the  trade union to be held national working meeting (Rapat Kerja Nasional) about labor issues to support the objectives of trade union itself. Keywords: employee protection, human right

Abstract

Abstract - PT. Freeport Indonesia is a subsidiary of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (FCX) which has the largest copper and gold reserves in the world located in Mimika Regency, Papua. There is ongoing negotiations between the government and PT Freeport Indonesia regarding the guarantee of the company's operational continuity. This negotiation is very important for both parties to determine whether PTFI can continue to operate and provide benefits to our Nation or have to stop because it is considered not to contribute to our Country. Public opinion is very influential in the process of reaching the agreement, which discusses some items that one of them and most importantly for the company about obtaining contract extension certainty until 2041. The Indonesian public is less aware of PT Freeport Indonesia's gait, especially its positive action. The press in Indonesia generally does not pay attention to the role of PT Freeport Indonesia, especially the positive side. The role of the mainstream mass media in shaping public opinion has begun to be eroded by other forces, namely social media and public opinion in Indonesia tend to follow public opinion, although the general opinion is not in line with reality. In this thesis the authors want that through some communication strategy done will be able to make people can see PT Freeport Indonesia better based on the facts that exist, on the positive things that have been done so that negative opinions that have been formed Can gradually be positive. This thesis is an early scientific effort to determine the right communication strategy to change public perception and strengthen the branding of PT Freeport Indonesia. Abstract

Trust in supplier is very important to feed producers in Indonesian poultry industry. This study is trying to understand if the key account management is an effective approach made by the supplier and to find out the underlying principle that drives the success of the implementation. There is a positive correlation between relational behavior construct with the satisfaction level of relationship quality. This study confirms that there is a positive correlation between satisfaction level of relationships quality with supplier performance as an indicator of the effectiveness of key account management approach. The consistency of supplier firms and the key account manager on the relational behavior construct tend to increase satisfaction level of relationship quality and at the end increasing the supplier performance. Keywords: key account management, relationship marketing, relational behaviour, business to business marketing, poultry industry

Abstract

Abstract - Personal vaporizer is a device that used to perform a similar activity as smoking but without the health hazard. One of the main elements in vaporizer is the liquid. Liquid on vaporizer is used to fill the vaporizer device with flavor so it can be consumed by their users. Bowflag liquid is one of the producers of liquid vaporizer who exist in the industry with fierce competition. Vaporizer industry is still new, young and small. The industry growth rate is high especially in the last couple of years. This growth comes with threats from outside the industry such as the possibility of strong cigarette companies entering the market or from inside of the industry itself including its market leaders and its new entrants emerging to the industry. To face the adversity, Bowflag require strategies to win the competition from cigarette industry and liquid industry. Therefore research is needed to determine what strategy maneuver Bowflag should conducted to face this adversity. To formulate the required strategies a serial steps of attack strategy formulation was conducted. These steps are external and internal environment scanning, customers perception study, maneuver strategy to face cigarette formulation and maneuver strategy to win in the liquid industry. The required data and information for this study captured using both qualitative and quantitative with interview and survey. The findings from this research are supportive external-internal environment, bypass strategy maneuver usage to face cigarette competitor and frontal maneuver usage to compete with other liquid companies. Bowflag must create entry barrier while stealing the market from cigarette companies and perform head to head combat to other liquid companies in the industry, with quality as its main weapon. Abstract

Abstract. According to the annual report 2015, Bank Windu is reported that they would purchase 1,002,500 total shares or 100% capitalization of Bank Antardaerah. Later on Bank Antardaerah would be fully absorbed by Bank Windu. Both Banks already signed the Conditional Sales and Purchase Agreement on July 1, 2015. The business issue that become the focus here is the discussion regarding evaluation on merger plan that would be executed by Bank Windu by considering the benefit through valuation process and risk that would be arised. This research is analyzed thorugh 3 explorative studies focused on internal environment analysis that using resources and capabilities. Environment analysis that using PEST and Porter Five Forces. Merger analysis that search the processess and motives from this merger plan. 3 of those explorative studies shows that by executing merger plan Bank Windu would be able to face the current economic situation and more prepared in the future compeitition.  From this research, Bank valuation is conducted by using theory of excess equity return for both banks and also merger plans. The result shows that The real value of Bank Antardaerah is Rp. 209,199,399,886 while the book value is Rp. 160,331,000,000 or 1.3 times, the real value of Bank Windu is Rp. 1,386,753,146,849 while the book value is Rp. 653,629,000,000 or 2.12 times. On the other hand, there are three merger scenarios here. Optimistic scenario that resulted merger value of Rp. 1,612,983,541,090. Most Likely scenario that resulted merger value of Rp. 1,595,952,546,735 and pesimistic scenario that resulted merger value of Rp. 1,526,893,729,402. The maximum potential gain (synergy) from this merger is Rp. 17,030,994,355 and the maximum potential loss (synergy) is - Rp. 69,058,817,333. While, the maximum price with net profit Rp. 0 for Bank Windu in purchasing Bank Antardaerah is Rp. 226,230,394,240. In term of risk there are 3 low risks, 5 medium risks and 1 high risk that possible to arised, but by using COSO risk framework. The risks are possible to be mitigated and decreased into 5 low risks, 3 medium risks and 1 high risk. Abstract. Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country with a total population of 259 million. The growth of telecommunication and technology users is increase every year. At the same time, telecommunications companies in Indonesia are trying to be the best in providing services to their users. The operators are always innovating in providing services, and to achieve this, telecommunication operators are very selective in cooperating with second parties, in this case telecommunications vendors. PT Huawei Services is one of the largest telecommunication service providers in Indonesia. PT Huawei services is a transformation of PT XL Axiata's service management. This transformation from operators to telecommunications vendors is making changes in work culture and work environment. In this transformation process, some employees choose to quit the company and result in a reduction in employees who have high work experience. This has an effect on knowledge management at PT Huawei services. The volume of sharing sessions every week starts to decrease and almost nothing. In this study, researchers tried to measure the level of maturity of knowledge management in PT Huawei services, especially at the NOC department. The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods are conducted by interviewing the management of PT Huawei Services. And the quantitative method is by conducting a survey of company employees. From the qualitative and quantitative method, researcher can conclude that the company at Defined level, it is mean knowledge management is already implemented and deployed in the company but there are still need an improvement in several aspects. Abstract. This paper explores the marketing issues in order to propose a feasible marketing strategy in promoting NARI’s sustainable market development in Indonesia.  In the analyses, SWOT and PESTL are used to identify and analyze the macro and micro environment of NARI’s market opportunity and conducted a comprehensive review on the market environment that may affect NARI’s core business, such that the issues can be clearly identified and recommended solution to resolve the issues can be formulated. The analysis based on the marketing condition of NARI, the marketing model is developed with a systematic mapping tailored to NARI’s brand strategy, product strategy, project strategy, management strategy and development strategy.  The strategy analysis and evaluation suggested NARI to conduct a in depth and comprehensive analysis of Indonesia's electricity power market and grab the business opportunities. In current fierce and quick changing market environment, NARI needs to increase its market share by applying the innovative marketing strategy and build strong brand to meet customer expectation.Key word: Marketing, NARI, PESTL, Strategy, SWOT

Abstract. The purpose – The purpose of this research is to formulate a proper KM program which can be used and implemented by Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP) on its day to day business in order to improve its performance and competitive advantage in the incoming AEC market. Business Issue – The declaration of ASEAN Economic Community will increase investment within ASEAN, from European, America also Middle East countries and make ASEAN region become the most prospective market in the world. This condition will be followed by the expansion of foreign law firms to Indonesia to protect their client’s investment in ASEAN region. With their international experiences and expertise for more than 50 years handling cases or projects world-wide, and also capital, independent Indonesian law firms will face the following obstacles in achieving their business goals in the AEC market: (i) Short of good and experienced human resources; (ii) clients which more prefer to engage foreign affiliated law firm who has more experiences and capabilities handling international transaction; and (iii) pricing competition. This condition urgently need to be noticed by partners as management in law firm as well as all lawyers, so it can compete with other law firms in the AEC environment and increase its performances and competitive advantage in the AEC environment on the following years. Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative research id used as the methods in this research, by using interview and questionnaires to collect data. In this research the data collected through: 1. Interview process to partners, lawyers, managers of HPRP, and clients of HPRP in order to obtain more perspective and to find out the main problem in this research. 2. The questionnaires were distributed to all lawyers of HPRP and it’s used as a tool to collect and record information related with the current and expectation condition of knowledge management implementation in HPRP. Findings – Based on the analysis of current condition of HPRP related to KM implementation for variable of people, process and technology, it was found that HPRP is still lacking in the dimension on each variables which were contributed to the decreasing of the performance of HPRP. By using “the Five Steps Knowledge Management Implementation” concept from Garfield this research produce the appropriate KM formulation related to the conditions of HPRP. This KM formulation will be used in HPRP by emphasizing to increase the KM awareness, lawyers competencies and HPRP knowledge sharing as the KM Objectives. Keywords – Law Firm, KM Program, KM Implementation.

Abstract. The Human Resources Development Center of Oil and Gas have a duty to carry out human resource development in the oil and gas sector. One of the very important energy sectors in Indonesia is an oil and natural gas. The management is good against this sector will give to the progress of Indonesia. In the current situation, the quality of Human Resource Development Centre of Oil and Gas declined. There is caused by lack of knowledge management activities, regeneration of lecturers and no activity that accommodates the activities of process knowledge management knowledge sharing activities i.e. mainly between senior and junior, as well as the exchange of knowledge with the workers in the oil and gas industry. This research aims to make a proposal for the design of the implementation model of Knowledge Management (KM) on the lecturers and instructors in Human Resource Development Centre of Oil and Gas. The method used is the study of literature, perform data collection through surveys, and interviews. The proposed design of the implementation model KM will be developed with an emphasis on communication as well as the selection of appropriate technologies so that the implementation of this model of KM will be capable of accommodating knowledge sharing. The important point is the success of the application of KM is the existence of communication as well as a strong leadership skill.
