MEDKOM, Journal of Media and Communication (e-ISSN : 2776-3609) is a scientific, peer-reviewed journal published by Department of Communication Airlangga University. MEDKOM Journal is an interdisciplinary journal that, while centered in communication, is open and welcoming to contributions from the many disciplines and approaches that meet at the crossroads that is communication study. The journal consists of online versions, published bi-annually at the end of May and November of the current year. As a scientific periodical, the journal is subject to standard provisions of peer reviews conducted by Communication Scholars from various universities. All submitted manuscripts will go through the double-blind peer review and editorial review before being granted acceptance for publication. The Journal has been using Open Journal System requiring all writers to register in advance before they are allowed to upload the manuscript they write online. Afterward, the editors, peer reviewers, and writers can monitor the manuscript processing. The Journal publishes the selected paper under a Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0 International License

Abstract

Health Belief Model dikembangkan untuk memprediksi praktik masyarakat dalam tindakan pencegahan penyakit. Belum banyak studi yang melihat konstruksi HBM pada pesan promosi kesehatan dari perspektif organisasi, sehingga riset ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis kecenderungan penggunaan konstruksi HBM dalam unggahan pesan promosi kesehatan program vaksinasi COVID-19 pada media sosial Instagram Kemenkes RI (@kemenkes_ri). Studi ini menggunakan metode analisis isi kuantitatif deskriptif terhadap 95 unggahan pesan promosi kesehatan program vaksinasi COVID-19 pada Instagram Kemenkes RI (@kemenkes_ri) periode 3 November 2020 hingga 2 Mei 2021. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi HBM dengan frekuensi kemunculan tertinggi adalah cues to action (n=66, 43,14%) dan yang terendah adalah perceived severity (n=6, 3,92%). Kombinasi konstruksi HBM dengan frekuensi kemunculan tertinggi adalah kombinasi cues to action dan self-efficacy (n=11). Unggahan yang memiliki jumlah likes dan komentar tertinggi adalah unggahan dengan konstruksi perceived susceptibility dan perceived barriers (likes=57.607, komentar=1.133).

Abstract

The practice of Corporate Social Responsibility has been carried out massively since 2007. The existence of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 brought new challenges, namely digital transformation. This challenge become an evaluation for corporate social responsibility practices to change from traditional to digital one. This concept has known as Corporate Digital Responsibility. Unfortunately, the implementation of this concept must be adapted to each country. In Indonesia, implementing Corporate Digital Responsibility is a homework that must be completed by various stakeholders. By using a literature study, researchers want to describe the concept of Corporate Digital Responsibility from dimensions to conceptual frameworks. Researchers will also conduct case studies on the implementation of corporate digital responsibility by social media Twitter in Indonesia in the form of search prompts to help victims of gender based violence. The results show that the concept of corporate digital responsibility is present as a development of the concept of corporate social responsibility. Corporate digital responsibility includes four categories, namely social, economic, technological and environmental. Within the basic framework of corporate digital responsibility, there are four stakeholders who need to be involved to make corporate digital responsibility successful. In addition, the four main stages related to the technology life cycle also influence the success of corporate digital responsibility. The challenges of corporate digital responsibility practice in Indonesia are the absence of full authority for branch offices to adjust policies in force in the country, the low digital literacy of the Indonesian people, and the absence of a strong legal umbrella to serve as a guideline for implementing corporate digital responsibility.

Abstract

Salah satu tema penting dalam komunikasi CSR adalah bagaimana perusahaan dapat memperoleh keuntungan maksimal dengan mengkomunikasikan CSR yang mereka selenggarakan secara tepat. Penelitian ini meninjau literatur komunikasi CSR untuk merumuskan sejumlah indikator kualitas komunikasi. Selanjutnya, indikator ini diterapkan untuk menakar kualitas komunikasi CSR eksplisit yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan-perusahaan yang terdaftar dalam Bursa Efek Indonesia. Data diperoleh dari laporan tahunan perusahaan-perusahaan tersebut dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis isi. Sampel terdiri dari 43 perusahaan dari berbagai bidang. Ditemukan bahwa secara umum, perusahaan tua cenderung lebih intensif dalam menyelenggarakan CSR dan lebih antusias dalam mengungkapkannya. Perusahaan sektor keuangan, infrastruktur, dan barang konsumen primer paling banyak memvisualisasikan dan merinci CSR walaupun masih cenderung rasional ketimbang emosional. Narasi pada semua jenis perusahaan dan berapapun saham mayoritas cenderung retoris, menandakan bahwa CSR masih dianggap kurang mampu menarik perhatian investor sehingga tidak dikomunikasikan dengan serius dan bahkan dipinggirkan dalam narasi laporan tahunan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to examine the behavior of students as netizen who are active on social media towards content that violates social media ethics. The students involved in this study were undergraduate students (S1) from various universities in Banda Aceh, namely Syiah Kuala College, UIN Ar-Raniry, STISIP Al-Washliyah, Serambi Mecca University and Iskandar Muda University Banda Aceh with active categories in social media and has three social media accounts. This study uses a qualitative approach with interviews as a data collection technique and uses the Miles & Huberman (2014) analysis model in analyzing the data. The results of the study show that student behavior towards content that contains netiquette violations on social media is by skipping, unfollowing/unsubscribing, reporting, blocking and not-interested or skipping, stopping following, reporting, blocking and setting not interested in accounts. containing netiquette violations. however, there is also the behavior of students who behave indifferent or apathetic towards content violating etiquette on their social media, but the number is very small. According to the writer's opinion, one of the strategies to stem and minimize the rise of netiquette violating content on social media is through media internet literacy. In this case, tertiary institutions as one of the highest educational institutions can play a role and facilitate through seminars or create a special curriculum regarding media internet literacy. Keywords: Ethics, Internet, Students, Netiquette, Social Media ABSTRACT Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perilaku mahasiswa selaku netizen yang aktif bermedia sosial terhadap konten-konten pelanggaran etika bermedia sosial. Mahasiswa yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa S1 dengan kategori aktif di media sosial dan memiliki tiga akun media sosial. Penelitian ini mengunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan wawancara sebagai teknik pengumpulan data dan menggunakan model analisis Miles & Huberman (2014) dalam menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku mahasiswa terhadap konten-konten yang berisi pelanggaran netiket di media sosial adalah dengan cara skip, unfollow/unsubscribed, report, block dan not-interested atau melewatkan, berhenti mengikuti, melaporkan, memblokir serta mengatur tidak tertarik pada akun-akun yang berisi pelanggaran netiket. Namun demikian, ada juga mahasiswa yang berperilaku tidak peduli atau apatis terhadap konten-konten pelanggaran etiket di media sosial mereka, namun jumlahnya sangat kecil. Menurut hemat penulis, salah satu strategi untuk membendung dan meminimalisir maraknya konten-konten pelanggaran netiket di media sosial adalah satunya melalui literasi media internet. Dalam hal ini, perguruan tinggi sebagai salah satu lembaga pendidikan tertinggi dapat berperan dan memfasilitasinya melalui seminar atau membuat kurikulum khusus mengenai literasi media internet. Abstract

The resistance to Covid-19 vaccination is not solely the community's fault. Educating the public on the importance of vaccination and the prevention of hoax information would contribute to the need for exemplary implementation of vaccination programs in Aceh Province. Insufficient information regarding vaccination to the public has caused many people to refuse vaccination. This study aims to evaluate the health promotion strategy of the Aceh Provincial Health Office in the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination in Aceh through Lawrence Green's (1984) behavioral theory. This qualitative research was conducted by observing and interviewing six Aceh Provincial Health Office informants and analyzing relevant documents. The results of the study indicate that there are factors in the health promotion strategy that shape people's acceptance toward Covid-19 vaccination; (1) including predisposing factors through providing information, forming attitudes and values "‹"‹of beliefs about vaccination in various media platforms; (2) enabling factors through the availability of facilities, medicines, and health workers; and (3) reinforcing factors which manifested in the formation of the supports from community leaders and the availability of policies that support Covid-19 vaccination. The study suggests improving these factors to gain positive responses from the public toward the Covid-19 vaccination program.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the increase in the level of financial inclusion and literacy in the community is not balanced. There is a considerable gap between the high level of financial inclusion and low financial literacy, which opens a gap of opportunity for bank fraud mode behavior to carry out its actions. The perpetrators of the fraud mode, on behalf of the bank irresponsibly. Bank BCA, which is also one of the banks that experienced this phenomenon, conducted a campaign that became one of the preventive measures to deliver educational messages to the public as a form of financial literacy. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is an influence between the #AwasModus campaign message delivered by BCA on the level of public financial literacy. The concepts used in the study used the concepts of campaign messages and financial literacy. The method used is explanatory quantitative using a questionnaire survey to 201 respondents. And the results of this study indicate that the independent variable, namely the campaign message, has an influence on the dependent variable, namely financial literacy, by 33.1%. The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence between the #AwasModus campaign message on Tiktok @bankbca on people's financial literacy.

Abstract

Sexual violence on campus is difficult to prove. On the one hand, voting is an effort to obtain justice and the struggle to create a safe space in the campus environment. On the other hand, sexual violence on campus threatens the campus reputation. Clarification of the parties involved has been found interesting. This study seeks to dismantle messages from the perpetrators or other parties regarding the violence that occurred critically. This study places the Critical Discourse Analysis method developed by Norman Fairclough as a guide for analysis. This study refers to Bourdieu's thoughts regarding symbolic power as the main academic foothold. The results of this study uncover three issues developed by the alleged perpetrators and the campus, namely the declaration of sexual violence, denial, and blaming the victim. Transparency and follow-up sexual activity in cases of violence are necessary. The realization of the solution can be done by building or maximizing ways to handle sexual handling on each campus. The handling division must be neutral, including from the power of the campus hierarchy. In addition, a grassroots movement is needed as a standing narrative for the alleged perpetrators of violence and concern for the alleged victims.

Abstract

Domestic work is a household-related activity and is mostly done by women. There are many negative stereotypes about women as domestic workers. One of the young activists, Kalis Mardiasih is quite critical in responding to gender issues on his Instagram account. The study aims to analyze the discourse behind posts @kalis.mardiasih related to stereotypes of women as domestic workers. This study uses the critical discourse analysis method of Norman Fairclough. The result of this study show that Kalis Mardiasih means women are more often victims according to the passive stigma attached to him. From the mental side, the female consciousness of accepting the stereotypes makes women only classified as a second-class human being that can be objectified. In addition, Kalis also responded through posts on her Instagram account about the stereotypes of female domestic workers by putting pressure on the meaning of the images and symbols posted, such as the role of women in the household. In his post, Kalis Mardiasih gave an emphasis on pictures f women crying while hanging children accompanied by symbols holding household appliances. In addition, Kalis Mardiasih also made writing with a thick style so that the essence of gender equality can be accepted by citizens.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Beauty standards are predominantly associated with the physical appearance of certain groups that are depicted unrealistically. It becomes problematic because value of beauty for each culture and people's opinions are so diverse. Responding to the issue, Charisma wrote the song King to respond with her perspective. This study discusses the representation of mainstream beauty standards rejection in the song King by Charisma. The purpose of this study is to explain the aspects represented in the song about the rejection of mainstream beauty standards. Primary data consists of parts of the song, namely lyrics and music. While secondary data obtained from scientific articles for analysis purposes. This research is a descriptive qualitative type with analysis based on Saussure's semiotic method. The data is mapped into a signifier consisting of lyrics, melodic elements, and rhythmic elements. The next mapping is the signified which is the interpretation of the signifier aspect. This study findings consist of three things, the song King represents criticism and rejection of beauty standards, the intention of rejecting beauty standards, and the reality of beauty standards. Keywords: beauty standard, digital platform, representation, semiotics, music ABSTRAK Standar kecantikan selalu dikaitkan dengan penampilan fisik dari kelompok tertentu yang digambarkan secara tidak realistis. Padahal nilai kecantikan bagi setiap budaya dan pendapat orang begitu beragam. Menanggapi isu tersebut, Charisma menulis lagu King untuk merespon dengan perspektifnya. Penelitian ini membahas representasi penolakan standar kecantikan arus utama dalam lagu King oleh Charisma. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan aspek-aspek yang direpresentasikan dalam lagu King tentang penolakan standar kecantikan arus utama. Data primer terdiri dari bagian lagu King, yaitu lirik dan musik. Sedangkan data sekunder didapatkan dari artikel ilmiah untuk kepentingan analisis. Penelitian ini bertipe kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis yang didasarkan pada metode semiotika Saussure. Data dipetakan menjadi signifier yang terdiri dari lirik, unsur melodis, dan unsur ritmis. Pemetaan selanjutnya adalah signified yang merupakan interpretasi dari aspek signifier. Temuan penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga hal, yaitu lagu King merepresentasikan kritik dan penolakan standar kecantikan, intensi penolakan standar kecantikan, dan realitas standar kecantikan. Abstract

his research explores the portrayal of traditional urban culture in Yogyakarta through the narrative found in the song 'Sesuatu di Jogja,' narrated by Adhitya Sofyan. The song is believed to carry profound meaning in representing the traditional urban culture of the Yogyakarta region in urban studies in Indonesia. This study will employ textual analysis as its research method, considering that song lyrics are regarded as one of the various forms of text that possess diverse meanings depending on the communicator. By utilizing the semiotic approach from Ferdinand Saussure's perspective, this study will decipher the signifiers and signifieds within the lyrics of the song 'Sesuatu di Jogja.' The findings indicate that the song portrays the Yogyakarta region as a city of tourism, culture, history, and education, seen as the object of romance by the character in the song's lyrics. Additionally, Yogyakarta is narrated as a destination for tourists seeking tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city, Jakarta.
