Abstract

Increasing industrial activities and urbanization have caused significant air pollution, including emissions of toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and ammonia (NH₃) which are harmful to human health and the environment. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based toxic gas detection system using MQ-136 and MQ-137 sensors integrated with an ESP32 microcontroller. This system is designed to monitor toxic gas concentrations in real-time and send data to an IoT platform such as Blynk for visualization and notification. The research methods include system design, sensor integration with ESP32, data processing algorithm development, and system performance testing under various environmental conditions. The results show that the system is able to detect H₂S and NH₃ gases with good accuracy, provide automatic notification when gas concentrations exceed the threshold, and monitor air quality in real-time through the Blynk application. This system also shows high response speed and good stability during testing. Thus, this study provides an innovative solution for air quality monitoring in industrial and household environments, as well as supporting efforts to improve public safety and health.

Abstract

Small to medium-sized restaurants, such as mie sop ayam kampung in kota stabat, often face issues with order recording and daily transactions due to manual methods. This leads to slow service and inaccuracies in transaction records. To address these challenges, this study aims to design a QR Code-based food ordering system integratet with a website. This system allows customers to scan QR Codes at their tables, view digital menus, and place orders directly. The research uses the waterfall method, consisting of requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance phases. Each stage is carried out systematically to ensure that the system developed meets the operational needs of the restaurant. The results show that the QR Code-based ordering system improves operational needs of the restaurant. The results show that the QR Code-based ordering system improves operational efficiently. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that implementing Qr Code Technology in food ordering systems enhances efficiency and customer satisfaction while helping restaurants better manage their operations.

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that allows various physical devices to connect to each other and exchange data via the internet network. The application of IoT is increasingly widespread in various sectors such as smart homes, manufacturing industries, smart agriculture, and healthcare. However, along with the increasing number of devices and the volume of data traffic sent, the potential risk of cybersecurity threats is also increasing. The large number of IoT devices that have limited computing capabilities makes the system more vulnerable to various attacks, including intrusion, exploitation of system weaknesses, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Therefore, early detection of anomalies in network traffic is a crucial aspect to maintain the security and stability of IoT systems. This study aims to develop and implement a Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based architecture as a classification method in an anomaly detection system on an IoT network. SVM was chosen because of its ability to handle high-dimensional data and non-linear classification effectively. The methodology used includes the process of extracting features from IoT network traffic datasets, data normalization, model training using the SVM algorithm, and evaluating model performance in distinguishing between normal and anomalous traffic. Thus, the implementation of SVM architecture can be an effective and efficient solution in intrusion detection systems for IoT networks. This research also opens up opportunities for the development of more adaptive security systems by integrating machine learning-based detection models into large-scale IoT infrastructures.

Abstract

In the field of data communication, cryptography plays a crucial role in ensuring data confidentiality, authenticity, and integrity. This technique is essential when transmitting sensitive information over public networks, preventing unauthorized access or manipulation. In the context of internet cafés (warnet), which provide global computer network access, a secure billing system is vital to prevent data tampering related to user activity duration and associated charges. This study applies the RC4 stream cipher encryption algorithm to protect the billing data. By encrypting user data before storage, the system ensures its confidentiality and integrity. The implementation, developed using Visual Basic 6.0, demonstrates that the encrypted data (ciphertext) maintains a consistent structure with the plaintext, indicating effective encryption without increasing data size. This solution enhances security in internet café billing systems.

Abstract

The distribution of compensation funds for underprivileged students must be based on clear and objective selection mechanisms to ensure that assistance is allocated to the most deserving recipients. A Decision Support System (DSS) provides a systematic and efficient method to support this selection process. This research utilizes the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to develop a DSS that ranks students based on predefined criteria such as parents’ income, family status, number of dependents, and academic achievement. The ranking results indicate that Farhan Rifai scored the highest (0.8), followed by Sidratul Muntaha (0.7666), demonstrating the method's effectiveness in supporting fair compensation distribution.

Abstract

The lecture scheduling problem in higher education is a complex and recurring issue that requires optimal solutions to accommodate lecturer availability, room capacity, and student needs. This study implements the Ant Colony System (ACS) algorithm to address the scheduling problem by simulating the behavior of ants in finding optimal paths. The research method involves both literature study and field observation at STMIK Budidarma Medan. By modeling the scheduling constraints as nodes in a directed graph and using pheromone-based traversal to explore possible combinations, the system successfully generates class schedules that minimize conflicts and meet lecturer preferences. The results indicate that the ant algorithm is capable of producing optimal and practical solutions for dynamic and constraint-based scheduling needs.

Abstract

Old photos often experience a decline in image quality due to age and the limitations of previous camera technology. This makes important visual details difficult to observe. This research aims to improve the image quality of old photos using histogram equalization and intensity adjustment methods with the MATLAB application. This method manipulates the image intensity distribution to obtain more optimal contrast and brightness. The test results show a significant increase in visual detail, histogram distribution, and image contrast values ​​compared to the original photo. However, this method still has limitations in reducing noise so further research is needed for better results.

Abstract

Outpatient services in Type C hospitals often encounter scheduling inefficiencies due to limited human and infrastructural resources. This study proposes a scheduling optimization approach using Integer Programming to allocate doctors optimally across various clinics. The aim is to minimize patient waiting time and enhance the operational efficiency of medical personnel. The model is implemented using Python and the PuLP library, and tested with data from a Type C hospital in North Sumatra. Simulation results indicate that this approach can reduce patient waiting times by up to 25% and ensure a more equitable distribution of workloads.

The QoreTwoDuo shop also accepts applications for credit for electronic goods to customers. The QoreTwoDuo electronics shop does not yet have an application that can help provide information about electronic products that are bought and sold and goods that can be credited at the shop to the wider community, for potential customers who have low incomes to buy these products for their household needs is very difficult, because Electronic goods are very expensive when bought with cash. A customer data processing system is very necessary to send data on customers who have made credit payments and have not paid their monthly credit installments, so that qoretwoduo shop owners can find out which customers are paying on time and who are late paying their credit. Abstract

The application of technology in the field of data and information security has been carried out a lot. Threats to information security can occur when the information sent is not addressed to everyone but only to certain people, especially if the information provided is confidential. Currently there have been many crimes in cyberspace, where confidential information can be taken by a hacker without being noticed. This raises concerns for the owner of the confidential information. So the purpose of this thesis research is to create a Website for Security and Concealment of Secret Messages with the RC4 Method and Adaptive Pattern which aims to keep secret or hide hidden information so that it is not spread to other unauthorized parties. In the research that has been done, the messages that have been entrusted do not make significant changes to other digital data. It would not physically attract the attention of a potential attacker or hacker, for example an image that looks harmless or not potentially attackable.
