Abstract

According to WHO, hyperemesis gravidarum affects 12.5% of pregnancies worldwide, with Indonesia reporting a 14.8% incidence. Nausea and vomiting occur in 50-70% of first-trimester pregnancies, caused by hormonal changes, particularly HCG, estrogen, and progesterone. Management includes pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods, such as acupressure at the pericardium point (P6) and peppermint aromatherapy. Acupressure increases cortisol and metabolism, while peppermint's menthol and methone help reduce nausea. This study aimed to analyze the effect of combining acupressure (P6) and peppermint aromatherapy on nausea intensity in first-trimester pregnant women at the Wedi Klaten Health Center. Using a Quasi-Experimental One Group Time Series Design, 32 respondents received acupressure (7 minutes) and peppermint aromatherapy (3 drops for 15 minutes) every morning for 4 days. Data were collected using the PUQE-24 questionnaire and analyzed with a Paired T-test.Results showed a decrease in nausea intensity from 7.00 to 5.69 on average. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant effect (p = 0.000, p < 0.05). The combination of acupressure and peppermint aromatherapy effectively reduced nausea and vomiting in first-trimester pregnant women. Keywords: Pericardium point (P6) acupressure, peppermint aromatherapy, nausea and vomiting, pregnant women.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women has serious implications for both mother and baby, including fatigue, heart complications, infections, hemorrhage during delivery, postpartum depression, and even death. For the baby, anemia can lead to prematurity, growth and developmental delays, low birth weight, and mortality. The highest incidence of anemia occurs in women aged under 20 and over 35 years and is more common in women with high parity due to increased plasma volume and hemodilution. Management of anemia in pregnancy can be achieved through health education, antenatal care (ANC) examinations, and regular consumption of iron (Fe) tablets. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal age and parity and the incidence of anemia in the working area of Sipatana Public Health Center. This research used an analytic method with a cross-sectional design and involved 104 pregnant women as respondents. The results showed that pregnant women in the at-risk age group had a 0.140 times lower likelihood of experiencing anemia based on statistical tests (p = 0.034). Meanwhile, women with high parity had a 3.628 times greater risk of experiencing anemia (p = 0.033). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between maternal age and parity and the incidence of anemia in the working area of Sipatana Public Health Center.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is an infectious disease with a high risk of transmission among adolescents, primarily due to limited knowledge and lack of accurate information. One effective strategy to address this issue is through health education, particularly using engaging media such as animated videos to enhance delivery and retention. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using animated video media on increasing adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 40 adolescents participated and received an intervention in the form of education through animated video. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with 30 multiple-choice items administered before and after the intervention.  Based on the results, before the health education intervention using animated video media, most respondents (25 people or 62.5%) were in the good knowledge category, 12 respondents (30%) were in the sufficient category, and 3 respondents (7.5%) were in the lacking category. After the intervention, all respondents (100%) were in the good knowledge category, with no respondents in the sufficient or lacking categories. The statistical test showed Z = -4.939 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference. Health education using animated video media is effective in increasing adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
