Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Bahtsul Masail management in improving the critical reasoning of santri at the Assuniyah Islamic Boarding School in Kencong, Jember. Bahtsul Masail is a discussion forum that emphasizes in-depth analysis of fiqh issues, expected to develop critical thinking of santri. As a traditional Islamic educational institution, pesantren has a significant role in shaping the character and intellectual abilities of santri. This research uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth case study method, examining the implementation and effectiveness of Bahtsul Masail in santri education. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with pesantren managers, teachers, and santri, as well as participatory observation and documentation analysis related to Bahtsul Masail practices. The results showed that effective Bahtsul Masail management can facilitate the development of santri's critical thinking skills through debate and discussion, allowing them to question, criticize, and evaluate various perspectives of Islamic law. The findings highlight the importance of structural and pedagogical arrangements in the implementation of Bahtsul Masail, as well as how good management can integrate the development of intellectual skills in the pesantren curriculum. This research provides insights for pesantren managers in designing educational strategies that support the development of critical thinking skills, which are relevant in today's global era.

Abstract

In general, Arabic language learning in Indonesia, particularly in higher education, faces various challenges such as the scarcity of well-prepared Arabic language learning books and the lack of adequate learning media and resources. Efforts have been made to address these challenges through the introduction of contextual-based digital learning materials. The aim of this research is to explore the role of contextual-based digital learning materials in higher education and to examine students' responses to the availability of contextual-based digital Arabic language learning books. The research methodology employed in this study is qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Data analysis follows four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of the research indicate that the use of contextual-based digital learning materials, presented in the form of modules accessible via computers or Android devices, can capture students' interest and contribute to the improvement of Arabic language learning. Students respond positively to the availability of contextual-based digital Arabic language learning books, as it allows them to explore language knowledge within real-life contexts.

Abstract

Traveling alone without being accompanied by a mahram between two people who are engaged is considered normal for some people in Indonesia, and it is not uncommon for people to fall into adultery. In fact, this is prohibited in Islam. This article aims to analyze the ijtihad method used by Yusuf al-Qaradawi regarding the prohibition of being alone with his fiancee. This research is library research with a fiqh proposal approach. Data was collected from books and other scientific works that are relevant to this study. The collected data is analyzed using content analysis, namely research that is an in-depth discussion of the content of written or printed information and then concludes based on the data collected and analyzed. The result of this research is that Yususf al-Qaradawi issued a fatwa regarding the prohibition of being alone with a fiancé using the ijtihad Qiyas method, where he stated that having seclusion between a man and a woman who is engaged is the same as bringing yourself closer to the act of adultery. For the reason that even though various ceremonies are carried out to celebrate the engagement, this is nothing more than just to strengthen and solidify it. And the Khitbah, no matter what the circumstances, will not be able to give any rights to the suitor but can only prevent other men from proposing to her.

Abstract

A lifestyle that tends towards luxury is usually known as a hedonic lifestyle, as explained in surah al-Isra' verse 27 in the Koran. The hedonistic lifestyle in Surah al-Isra' verse 27 is currently popular among generation Z, but is even more clearly visible among today's students. This can be felt when many students do not buy something because they need it, but instead follow trends only to fulfill their lustful desires. Therefore, researchers want to evaluate the issue of the hedonistic lifestyle in the current contemporary era, the research method is using library research, then the data collected is done by analyzing documents. Then in previous research it was more about analysis using descriptive analysis and using the Maudhu'I (thematic) interpretation method. So the results of the research explain several hedonistic attitudes in verses in the Koran, such as the attitude of loving the world and squandering wealth. However, this article is more about analyzing Surah al-Isra' verse 27 according to the interpretation of Al-Azhar's commentary and Paul Ricoeur's Hermeneutics, as well as its relevance to the lifestyle of today's students. So, this article provides in-depth knowledge regarding the relevance of Surah al-Isra' verse 27 for today's students, thereby making students understand that wasteful lifestyles are only due to lustful desires.

Abstract

Gender inequality remains a prevalent issue in society today, despite the Quran's clear articulation of equality between men and women. This study aims to analyze verses of gender equality in the Quran that employ the linguistic devices of fasl and wasl using Jürgen Habermas's critical hermeneutical approach. Gender verses refer to those that specifically address gender roles, rights, and obligations in a religious context. The study adopts a linguistic approach to explore how fasl and wasl are used to convey gender-related messages in the Quran. It employs a qualitative content analysis methodology involving literature identification, selection, and analysis in Arabic. Purposive sampling is used to select verses from Surah An-Nisa’ , one of the longest chapters addressing gender, particularly women. From 176 verses, several excerpts depicting gender relations are analyzed. The findings reveal equality in inheritance, kinship, receiving divine blessings, leadership, and equal rewards. These aspects represent social, economic, and humanitarian rights.

Abstract

This research discusses the journalistic product of the burning of the Tawhid flag produced by Media Ummat (MU) owned by former HTI. Interestingly, the flag burning case was associated with the Prophet's flag, causing various public responses. This research raises questions about how opinion formation and ideological framing are carried out by ex-HTI through journalistic production. Data is collected by tracing the news produced by the publisher Media Umat online which is used as a primary source, while secondary sources are news, journal articles, books and relevant research that discusses the research theme. The data is then analyzed descriptively-analyzed related to the production of news published by Media Umat Online. This study found that views were built using 4 (four) ways, namely religious arguments, through the hands of others, legal narratives, and accusations of an authoritarian government. The ideological framing in question is that the flag that was burned was not an ex-HTI flag but the Prophet's flag. Therefore, Muslims must defend the Islamic propagation. The ideological framing was done to legitimize ex-HTI as defenders of Islam. Other findings show that although ex-HTI has disbanded, the group still exists by fighting against the government.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the historical and legal transformation of polygamy regulation in Turkiye, from its initial permissibility to its eventual prohibition under the influence of Kemalist secular reforms. With information acquired from documentation and library research, this study employs a juridical-normative approach and a qualitative-descriptive method.  The findings indicate that the abolition of the 1917 Ottoman Family Law resulted in the unequivocal prohibition of polygamy, which had been permitted under certain situations, with the enactment of the Turkish Civil Code by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The study highlights the significant role of Kemalism in shaping the legal landscape of Turkiye, particularly in transitioning from religious to secular legal frameworks. While the research offers important insights into the intersection of law, secularism, and social reform, it is limited by its reliance on secondary sources and the absence of field-based empirical data. Nevertheless, it contributes to the broader discourse on legal modernization and the socio-political implications of secularism in Muslim-majority societies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social media addiction in shaping self-acceptance (qana’ah) among emerging adults from an Islamic perspective. Given that qana’ah reflects a believer's satisfaction with divine decree, understanding factors that undermine this trait is essential, particularly amid growing social media use. The study adopted a qualitative library research method, relying primarily on the Qur’an and hadith as authentic sources, supplemented by relevant books, journals, and scholarly articles to provide contemporary context. The findings suggest that excessive social media use negatively affects self-acceptance among emerging adults, leading to traits such as envy, ingratitude, and diminished contentment with one's condition. This implies that digital behavior may conflict with spiritual ideals in Islam, especially during formative adult years. While the study is limited to a literature-based analysis without empirical testing, it offers valuable insights into how Islamic teachings can inform responses to modern psychological challenges. This study contributes original value by integrating classical Islamic concepts with current behavioral concerns, emphasizing the importance of qana’ah in the digital age
