Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how the exchange rate (Kurs) affects the balance of payments in Indonesia. This study uses time series data from 1993-2023. The analysis technique used is Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). Based on the ARDL test, the exchange rate has a positive relationship and a significant effect on the balance of payments in the short term, while in the long term the exchange rate has a positive relationship but has no significant effect on the balance of payments. National income and interest rates have a negative relationship and have a significant effect on the balance of payments in the short term, while in the long term national income and interest rates have no significant effect but have a negative relationship on the balance of payments.

Abstract

Unemployment is one of the most crucial labor market issues in Indonesia, particularly among young people and higher education graduates. This study aims to analyze the effects of the proportion of young population, higher education attainment, and technological skills on the unemployment rate in Indonesia, while considering minimum wages, labor force participation rate (LFPR), and economic growth as control variables. The method employed is panel data regression with a fixed effect model, based on secondary data from 34 provinces in Indonesia over the period 2018–2024. The results indicate that the young population, higher education attainment, and technological skills have a positive and significant effect on the unemployment rate. Conversely, minimum wages, LFPR, and economic growth have a negative and significant effect on unemployment. These findings suggest that the increasing number of young people and participation in higher education have not been matched by labor market readiness. Therefore, more responsive policies are needed to align education and job training with industry demands in order to reduce unemployment rates.

Abstract

Indonesia faces serious challenges in developing the quality of human resources, namely stunting or a condition of failure to thrive in children. Not only does it have an impact on health aspects in the short term, stunting also has a long-term impact on labor productivity and the economy. This study aims to analyze the effect of stunting prevalence, birth rate, and prevalence of food insufficiency on labor productivity in Indonesia and its implications for economic losses in the period 2001-2022. This study applies the Ordinary Least Squares method. Secondary data used comes from data in World Bank and BPS publications. The estimation results obtained that the birth rate has a significant positive effect on labor productivity in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the prevalence of stunting and the prevalence of food insufficiency have a significant negative effect on labor productivity in Indonesia. These findings emphasize the importance of nutritional interventions and food security in the development of human resource quality and the need for policies that consider the balance between population growth and improving the quality of the workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze two main aspects: (1) the impact of economic growth, unemployment, health, and internet access on poverty in Indonesia, and (2) the influence of poverty, labor force, and education on economic growth. The research employs a descriptive and inductive approach with multiple linear regression analysis using the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method on time series data from 1992 - 2022. Secondary data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), with dependent variables consisting of poverty and economic growth, while independent variables include unemployment, health, internet access, labor force, and education. The results of this study reveal several important findings: (1) the unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect on poverty rates in Indonesia. (2) the health variable has a negative but insignificant relationship with poverty (3) Internet access has been shown to have a negative and significant impact on poverty (4) Economic growth shows a significant negative impact on poverty (5) Labor availability has a positive and significant impact on economic growth (6) Education levels have a negative and significant impact on economic growth (7) Poverty shows a negative and significant impact on economic growth.

Abstract

This study offers significant new insights into the relationship between financing risk, as determined by Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Islamic Commercial Banks' financial performance, as determined by Return On Asset (ROA). In this study, data from 10 Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia between 2016 and 2023 are analyzed using panel data regression. The results show that NPF significantly lowers ROA. This suggests that inadequate financing risk management can have a significant negative influence on the profitability of Islamic banks, as the greater the NPF level, the worse the bank's financial performance. The aforementioned discovery underscores the need of executing efficient risk mitigation strategies to guarantee the steadiness and durability of banks' fiscal outcomes. It also emphasizes how Islamic banks must concentrate more on reducing financing risk if they want to increase market share and perform better.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) on income distribution inequality in Java Island, measured using the Gini ratio. The primary focus of the research is to identify how PAD influences income inequality. Additionally, it examines the effects of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), informal labor in the agricultural sector, education level measured by average years of schooling, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth, infrastructure measured by road length, and the Human Development Index (HDI) from 2015 to 2024. The method employed in this study is Beta Regression. The analysis results show that PAD has a negative and significant effect on income inequality. Similarly, UMP and HDI also have negative and significant effects on income inequality. Meanwhile, informal labor, average years of schooling, GRDP growth, and road infrastructure have positive and significant effects on income inequality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze how renewable energy and technology adoption affect air quality in developing countries in Southeast Asia. This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Bank from 2000-2021 with research variables grouped into three parts: the dependent variable which in this study is defined as air quality, and the independent variables are renewable energy and technology adoption, and the control variables used in this study are economic openness, manufacturing sector, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), forest area and energy intensity. This study uses panel data regression analysis with a cross section of 5 developing countries in Southeast Asia and a time series from 2000-2021. The results of the study indicate that renewable energy and technological adoption have a negative effect on air quality as measured by carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels, thus providing an opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels in these countries.

This study uses secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). With economic growth as the dependent variable and natural resources, electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, education infrastructure as independent variables, and domestic investment as control variables. The method used is a dynamic panel data approach with Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation using Stata14 software. The results of the study show that in the short term, the variables of previous year's economic growth, natural resources, electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, and domestic investment have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Conversely, educational infrastructure shows a negative and significant effect on economic growth. In the long term, it shows that the variables of electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, and domestic investment have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Conversely, educational infrastructure shows a negative and significant effect and natural resources have a positive and insignificant effect on economic growth in Eastern Indonesia in 2016–2023.
