Abstract

This study examines the impact of the United States Monetary Policy (FFR) on  Indonesia’s exchange rate and inflation , as well as how  Indonesia’s interest rate (SBI) responds to FFR changes using Vector Autoregression (VAR), Impulse Response Function (IRF), and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEDV). The results indicate that FFR increases lead to Rupiah depreciation in the short term due to capital outflows, while inflation rises through cost-push inflation.  Although SBI is effective in stabilizing the exchange rate and inflation in the short term, its influence weakens over time as external factors become more dominant. Additionally, higher FFR reduces investment and consumption, which recover as domestic monetary policies stabilize. Thus,  Bank Indonesia must adjust interest rates, intervene in the foreign exchange market, and strengthen fiscal policy coordination to maintain economic stability amid global volatility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the volatility of inflation based on expenditure groups and forecasting the inflation rate using ARIMA and ARCH/GARCH methods. The data used is monthly inflation data from January 2006 to November 2024 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analysis shows that inflation volatility varies across expenditure groups, with major factors such as changes in energy and food prices. The ARIMA model good results in forecasting inflation, while the ARCH/GARCH model is used to identify and analyze significant inflation volatility. This research contributes to economic policy making, especially in maintaining price stability and formulating effective policies to reduce the negative impact of inflation on society. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for future monetary and fiscal policy planning.

Abstract

wealth of natural resources and the presence of various industries utilizing these resources, South Sulawesi exhibits diverse potential within the processing industry. This potential can be harnessed to enhance the economy of South Sulawesi Province, which is still classified as a developing region. This study aims to analyze the interconnections between the processing industry sector and other sectors, as well as to identify key sectors within the processing industry and the output multiplier effects generated using Input-Output analysis methods. The analysis results indicate that most processing industry sectors are capable of stimulating production growth in other sectors through the utilization of the generated output. Conversely, only the food and beverage industry and the non-metallic mineral products industry are sensitive to final demand, suggesting that these sectors are key. Based on the output multiplier figures obtained, the food and beverage sector demonstrates the highest value.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and classify the level of competitiveness of districts/cities in West Sumatra. This research uses secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) for 2022-2023. This research uses RCI (The European Regional Competitiveness Index) calculation and Klassen Typology analysis. Based on the research results, it is found that each pillar supports each other and is closely related to economic growth. Some areas in West Sumatra, especially remote areas such as Mentawai Islands, suffer from lack of infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and public facilities. Major cities such as Padang are often the center of infrastructure development, while other districts are given less attention. There is a disparity in macroeconomic stability among districts and cities in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is important for economic growth and job creation in Indonesia. This article aims to analyze the contribution of foreign direct investment to employment, identify the factors that influence this relationship, identify the positive and negative impacts of foreign direct investment on job creation in Indonesia, as well as the challenges faced in attracting and utilizing this investment. The research method used is literature review, collecting and analyzing data from various relevant sources. The research results show that foreign direct investment not only opens up new jobs, but also brings technology and skills that can improve the quality of the local workforce. Foreign direct investment has been proven to contribute significantly in creating job opportunities through new projects, technology transfer and improving the quality of the workforce. However, challenges such as dependence on foreign companies and the potential for labor exploitation remain concerns. Supportive policies need to be formulated to maximize the benefits of foreign direct investment for society, especially in terms of creating quality jobs. It is hoped that these findings will become a reference for policy makers, business people and academics in formulating more effective economic development strategies.
