Jurnal Kajian Ekonomi dan Pembangunan (JKEP) is a peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for scientific works pertaining to Development Economics. This journal was first published since June 2019 by the Universitas Negeri Padang.This journal published four times a year and has e-ISSN 2656-0356. JKEP is expected to be used as a reference for academicians in writing a scientific, relevant, and dynamic article to enhance the new generation that is found in writing an academic paper. The Redaction Board accepts only research in the field of legal science that already in the form of a journal article to be considered for publication. The aims of JKEP are to provides immediate open access to its content in the principle of making research freely available to the public as a support for the greater global exchange of knowledge. The language used in this journal is English or Indonesian. Scope of articles published in JKEP is consist of a broad range of topic in the field of development economics, energy economics, environmental economics, international trade, public finance, rural development, regional economics, financial development, monetary economics, industrial economics, Islamic economics, agricultural economics, and labor economics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the absorption of labor in theagricultural sector in Indonesia. This research is classified as descriptive andassociative research. The data used is secondary data from 34 provinces inIndonesia in 2018-2021 obtained from BPS and other related institutions. Thisstudy uses panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model approach which isprocessed using Eviews 9 software. The results show that the GRDP of theagricultural sector has a positive and significant effect on employment in theagricultural sector, the area of rice fields has a positive and insignificant effecton employment in the agricultural sector. In agriculture, the provincialminimum wage has a negative and insignificant effect on employment in theagricultural sector, the farmer's exchange rate has a positive and insignificanteffect on employment in the agricultural sector and the unemployment rate hasa positive and significant effect on employment in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of economic growth and the open unemployment rate on poverty in Jambi Province using panel data from 11 regencies/cities during the 2020-2023 period. The panel data regression method with a random effect model approach was used in the analysis. The results show that economic growth has a negative and insignificant effect on poverty, while The results show that while the open unemployment rate has a positive and significant impact on poverty,economic growth has a negative and insignificant impact on poverty. At the same time, both economic growth and the open unemployment rate have a significant impact on poverty. influence on   poverty   in   Jambi Province.   These   findings   imply that poverty alleviation efforts need to consider improving economic growth and reducing the unemployment rate simultaneously to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Anagement of government and development handed over to local governments and seek sources of financing in carrying out this management. One of the sectors that has the potential to become the highest source of PAD is the tourism sector. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the number of tourist visits, the number of hotels, the amount of spending on the development of the tourism sector on local revenue in the city of Padang in 1990-2019. In this study using 2 variables, namely the dependent variable and independent variable. The dependent variable is local revenue (Y) and the independent variable is the number of tourist visits (X1), the number of hotels (X2), the amount of tourism sector development spending (X3). The data used is secondary data obtained from the Padang City Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Padang City Tourism Office and other literature such as books and economic journals. The analytical tool used is multiple linear regression and processed with eviews 12. The results of the study show that there is an influence on the number of tourists on regional original income in the city of Padang. There is no effect of the number of hotels on local revenue in the City of Paadang. There is an influence on the amount of spending on the development of the tourism sector on local revenue in the city of Padang. There is an influence on the number of tourist visits and the amount of tourism sector development spending on local revenue in the city of Padang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in the short and long term the effect of exports,exchange rate and froreign direct investment (FDI) on foreign exchangereserves in Indonesia. This type of research is quantitative research usingsecondary data. The data analysis method used is the Auto RegressiveDistributed Lag (ARDL). The variables used are Foreign Reserves (Y), Exports(X1), Exchange Rate (X2) and Foreign Direct Investment (X3). The data used isthe time series period 1989-2020 obtained from relevant institutions andagencie. The results of this study indicate that all independent variablestogether have a significant effect on foreign exchange reserves as the dependentvariable. In the short-term test, the export variable has a positive andsignificant effect on foreign exchange reserves. Exchange rate has a negativeand insignificant effect on foreign exchange reserves, while FDI has a negativeand significant effect on foreign exchange reserves. In the long term, the exportvariable has a negative and significant effect on foreign exchange reserves. Theexchange rate has a positive and significant effect on foreign exchange reserves,while FDI has a positive and significant effect on foreign exchange reserves.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of air pollution and education on the level of population health in the Southeast Asian Region. This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Development Indicator, World Bank and Global Data Lab Institute for Management Research Redboud University. With research variables, namely, the dependent variable uses the level of health with indicators of life expectancy and infant mortality. The independent variables consist of air pollution with PM2.5 particulate pollution indicator and education with average years of schooling indicator. The control variables are income per capita, access to proper sanitation, and health expenditure. This study uses panel data regression analysis method with the selected model is Random Effect Model (REM) with cross section 11 countries in Southeast Asia region and time series 2010-2019. The results showed that air pollution has a negative and insignificant relationship with health level (life expectancy model 1). Air pollution has a positive and insignificant relationship with health (infant mortality rate model 2). Meanwhile, education has a positive and significant relationship with health (life expectancy model 1). Education has a negative and significant relationship with health (infant mortality model 2).

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether stock price indices influence each other in the ASEAN region and whether there is a contagion effect between financial markets in the ASEAN region. The data used in this research is time series data from January 3, 2017 to December 30, 2021 from the official websitesinvesting.com and wsj.com. This research is a quantitative research using the GARCH analysis model. The results of the study show that stock price indices influence each other in the ASEAN region and there is a contagion effect between financial markets in the ASEAN region

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Education, Income and PopulationDensity as well as Income Distribution on Water Demand in theRegencies/Cities of West Sumatra Province with the selected model being theRandom Effect Model (REM). The data used is panel data with a cross sectionof 18 regencies/cities and a 5 year time series from 2017 – 2021. The results ofthis study indicate that education has a significant positive effect on PDAMwater demand. The income and population density variables have nosignificant positive effect, while the income distribution variable has nosignificant negative effect on PDAM water demand.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education of the head of household, gender, occupation of the head of household, employment status, how much education the mother has, number of family members, region on food, education and health expenditure in Indonesia. The type of research conducted is descriptive and inductive. Using the Tobit regression model. This research was conducted in Indonesia, using Susenas Indonesia data in 2020. Data collection used documentation techniques and literature studies. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, inductive analysis, hypothesis testing. The results of the study were Education of the head of household (Edu), gender of the head of household (Gender), sector of employment of the head of household (Empstat), sector of employment of the mother, Education of the mother, number of family members (Hhsz), and regional variables have a positive and significant relationship to Food, Education and Health Expenditure in Households.

Abstract

Penajam Paser Utara Regency is one of the regions in East Kalimantan Province which will later be allocated as the “Ibu Kota Negara Indonesia” (IKN). This research aims to identify the central areas of growth and how these areas interact with each village in Penajam Paser Utara Regency. The analysis tools used are scalogram, centrality index, and gravity analysis. Based on the results of the scalogram analysis and centrality index, there are several growth center areas in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, there are Nipah-Nipah Village, Babulu Darat, Petung, Kampung Baru, Bukit Subur, Waru, Tengin Baru, Nenang, Sri Raharja, Sidorejo, Bukit Raya, Penajam, Lawe-Lawe, Bangun Mulya, Binuang, Sesumpu, Giripurwa, Sebakung Jaya, Riko, and Gunung Mulia. The gravity analysis results show that Petung Village has the strongest interaction with the Penajam Paser Utara area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the ownership of healthinsurance in households in West Sumatra. The variables used in this studywere health insurance ownership, area of residence, marital status, gender,age, education level, business field, health complaints, and household percapita expenditure. The data used in this study is Susenas data in 2020. Whilethe analytical method used in this study uses Logistics Regression analysis.The results of this study indicate that 75.45% of household heads already havehealth insurance. The factors that influence the ownership of health insurancein households in West Sumatra are the area of residence, marital status,gender, age, education level, and household expenditure per capita. While thevariables of business field and health complaints do not affect the ownershipof health insurance inhouseholds.
