Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the mechanical response of a piston in an engine with different piston materials. The piston materials used are Aluminium AA356.0-F, 2618-T61 (SS), and 4032-T6. The analysis is conducted using the Solidworks software, which allows for simulation and evaluation of the piston's performance under operational conditions. Stress, displacement, and strain analysis of a piston using different piston materials (Aluminium AA356.0-F, 2618-T61 (SS), 4032-T6) conducted using Solidworks. Objective: gaining insights into the relative performance of each piston material and selecting the optimal material for engine applications. A 3D model of a piston is created using Solidworks, followed by the selection of three different materials: Aluminium AA356.0-F, 2618-T61 (SS), and 4032-T6. Simulation analysis is performed to obtain the stress, displacement, and strain for each variation of the piston material. The results are then analyzed and compared to determine the relative performance of each piston material. Analysis using Solidworks revealed significant variations in stress, displacement, and strain in pistons with Aluminium AA356.0-F, 2618-T61 (SS), and 4032-T6 materials. The 2618-T61 (SS) material exhibited higher stress, while the 4032-T6 material showed lower displacement. The selection of piston materials should consider factors such as strength, deformability, and optimal performance. The analysis using Solidworks showed significant differences in stress, displacement, and strain in pistons with varying piston materials. The selection of piston materials should consider a balance between strength and deformability for optimal performance.

Abstract

Ria Cinema is located in Pematangsiantar City. This cinema was built in 1953 and started operating actively in 1955. This building is a cinema building that was built after the end of the Dutch occupation of Indonesia. In 2003, this cinema was no longer actively operating. The main reason is because the cinema does not support the city's economy, in 2022 the former cinema building has been restored and revived by changing its function as a food court which is named Foodcourt Ria Heritage. Transfer of function is the process of an activity that changes the initial function into a new function of a room, a building. Transfer of building functions is a strategy in building preservation. As a historical relic in the field of film, the existence of this building certainly has a lot of potential. This study discusses the description of the changes in the building of the former Ria Cinema in terms of building facades and spatial planning. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that aims to describe the observed object. In this study it was found that the conversion of the former Ria cinema building was determined by several elements, namely the facade elements (walls, doors, windows, roof and structures) and spatial elements. This research concludes that the conversion of the former Ria cinema building into a Ria Heritage food court has affected the change in facade elements

Abstract

Refrigeration machines and air conditioning machines are an inseparable part of human life in improving the quality of activities. using air conditioning(Air Conditioning). Refrigeration systems in large buildings or those used to cool production machines in the industrial world require energy efficiency. This study uses the CLTD methodCooling Load Temperatur Difference Calculation of heat from each internal and external load of the room refers to the standard ASHRAE Cooling Load Calculation. With the calculation of heat on walls, roofs and floors, it is included in the calculation of external heat loads and the heat of occupants, equipment and lighting is included in internal heat and heat from infiltration and ventilation. Some of the parameter factors considered include heat from building walls, building roofs, building floors, heat in humans working inside, lighting used, production parameters and infiltration factors, ventilation. The value of COcontractualfor chiller 1 it was 6.47 and for chiller 2 it was 8.07. While the value of COPrefrigran is 7.8 for chiller 1 and chiller 2 which is 9.7. The efficiency obtained from these two units is chiller 1 57.4% and chiller 2 58.8%. From the calculation of the cooling load carried out, it is obtained 275576 ??BTU/hr or 330691 BTH/hr after adding 20% ??so that the engine is not burdened, if it is known that 1 kW = 3410 BTU/hr then the cooling load is 97kW.

Abstract

Niat Lima Laras palace is a relic of the Lima Laras Sultanate in North Sumatra. Niat Lima Laras Palace was founded by Datuk Mad yudha, who was the eleventh king of the Lima Laras Kingdom. The palace was built in 1907 until its completion in 1912. Formerly the palace was inhabited by Datuk mad yudha and his family as a residence as well as a center of political, social and economic power for the Lima Laras community. But now the palace is left empty and used as a historical tourist attraction. In the Palace building, there has been architectural acculturation because the construction of the palace involved Chinese groups who had settled in the Lima Laras and the surrounding Lima Laras community as building coolies. This study aims to determine the influence of acculturation of Chinese and Malay architecture applied to the building of Niat Lima Laras Palace. The method used is a descriptive-qualitative method. Analyzing the data descriptively is by analyzing theories related to the architectural characteristics of Niat Lima Laras Palace, then comparing these theories to this Palace, in order to draw conclusions. The results of the analysis showed that the building acculturated Chinese and Malay architecture. The dominant palace applies acculturation of Malay architecture such as stage-shaped palaces, installation of walls, floors, the shape of doors and windows and their colors and ornaments. There is also the application of Chinese architectural acculturation such as the main concept of symmetrical palaces, roof shapes, materials used, colors and ornaments.

Abstract

Colonial architecture is architecture that emerged when Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch. Colonial architecture is more prominent than the Dutch architectural style because the Netherlands was the country that colonized Indonesia the longest, so the Dutch government had time to build several buildings in a typical Dutch style, especially government buildings. Bireuen became one of the areas controlled by the Dutch, where the Dutch had built several buildings in a typical Dutch style, especially government buildings. This study aims to identify and examine the characteristics of Dutch colonial architecture in Dutch heritage buildings in Bireuen Regency. This research is also expected to strengthen the identity of Bireuen Regency as one of the regencies in the Indonesian region which is rich in historical value and can become a learning medium for present and future generations. The results of the analysis show that the three research objects have the characteristics of Dutch colonial architecture in accordance with the construction period of the three buildings used as the research object. There are eight characteristics of colonial architecture that exist in the Bireuen Pendopo building, namely geveltoppen, cripedoma, entrance with two doors, symmetrical facade, wooden framed windows, wood wall materials, metal material decoration, and decoration on the body of the building. In the Gandapura Village Hall building there are seven characteristics of colonial architecture namely gevel, geveltoppen, cripedoman, entrance with two doors, symmetrical facade, wooden framed windows, wood wall materials. Whereas in the Uleebalang Peusangan house there is a cripedoman, an entrance with two doors, a symmetrical facade, windows with wooden frames.

Abstract

Global warming and the energy crisis are the biggest problems in the world today, many efforts must be made to avoid them. One of them is by continuing to increase the implementation of energy efficient buildings. In Indonesia, energy-efficient buildings must meet the requirements set out in SNI 03-6389-2020 where the maximum limit for the OTTV (Overall Thermal Transfer Value) value is 35 Watt/m² and has been enforced by the Government from now on. However, these requirements have not been fully fulfilled by investors, as well as planning agencies or consulting units. There are still many buildings whose OTTV value is not yet known. As is the case with the object of this research, namely the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building. This research aims to calculate and determine the OTTV value for the research object of the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building, so that later it will be known whether the building is categorized as an energy efficient building or not. The research method used is an experimental quantitative method using the OTTV Microsoft Excel spreadsheet calculator from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (BGH-PUPR). The results of this research analysis show that the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building has many large openings and has sunlight fenestration, so that the overall OTTV value on the building envelope is below the SNI standard threshold of 35 Watt/m² and can be categorized as an energy efficient building.

Abstract

Jagu Beach Coastal Road is located at the end of Lhokseumawe city center, precisely in the Lhokseumawe Port Security Unit (KP3). Even though the place is not an Instagrammable place, many tourist hunters visit it. Apart from offering a beautiful panoramic view of the sea, along the coastline there are also dozens of traders serving various culinary delights on the Coastal Road of Jagu Beach, Lhokseumawe City, so that this is utilized by street vendors in their marketing strategies. Its main activities are strongly influenced by commercial activities, both formal and informal trade. The informal trade sector has both positive and negative impacts on the region. Street vendors occupy the pedestrian right up to the road shoulder which results in a shift in pedestrian activity space to the road shoulder plus a lack of adequate parking space, which has an impact in the form of a lack of circulation for vehicles passing through it. This research aims to determine activity patterns as well as the causes and utilization of road corridors dominated by street vendors and their positive impact on the livability and sustainability of the city of Lhokseumawe. A mixed methods research approach was applied in this research to analyze descriptive and qualitative data obtained through observation, mapping, documentation and interviews on the Jagu Coastal Road, Lhokseumawe City. The research results reveal that this phenomenon contributes to the continuity of urban life in the afternoon and evening and becomes a popular place for people to gather. This helps to attract a crowd that can contribute to the economic livelihood of the city. On the other hand, this place shows the high level of dependence on street vendors to support their income.

Abstract

The market is a collection of traders and buyers who meet each other, interact, link each other and create nominal goods or prices in the market. This rao traditional market is also known by people outside of the rao sub-district and even people from the Penyabungan area (North Sumatra) also take the time to come to sell and buy in this market. This market is very crowded especially on Saturdays, because Saturday is a weekday at the market. The rao traditional market is not only known for that, it is also known for providing complete needs for the community. This market is open every day from 06:00 WIB to 18:00 WIB, various types of merchandise that the community needs are in this market, ranging from clothing to food needs available in this market, in a market that certainly has a variety of activities and of course must have a complex space so that activities in the market can run smoothly. This market still has a close bond with the community, the closeness can be seen by traders and buyers who look very familiar, like relatives and even like family. This research aims to find out the attachment of people and places based on experience and explore the phenomena that occur in traditional markets. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method by identifying with interviews, observations. The research uses David Seamon's theory of Phenomenological Perspectives on Place, Lifeworld, and Live Emplacement, the elements examined in the research are Place, Lifeworld and Home. The results of the analysis show that in Rao traditional markets that make them still very much needed by the community because they are able to understand and provide what is needed by customers or the community, the most important thing where in traditional markets prices can be negotiated and have family values. That way people become interested in coming back to the market.
