Abstract

Endotracheal intubation (ETT) involves inserting a tube into the trachea through the mouth or nose with the assistance of a laryngoscope, while the Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) is considered a safer supraglottic airway for general anesthesia compared to ETT, which is associated with difficulties in airway management and spontaneous ventilation. A common postoperative complication following both ETT and LMA is sore throat, which can reduce patient comfort after surgery. This study aims to assess the incidence of sore throat in patients after general anesthesia with ETT and LMA, employing a descriptive observational analysis with purposive sampling. The results indicate that the mean sore throat pain scale for LMA is 2.61, while for ETT it is 3.84, indicating that the sore throat pain scale resulting from ETT use is higher compared to LMA use. The findings show that the use of the Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) results in a higher pain scale of 2 (23.7%), while the Endotracheal Tube (ETT) has a pain scale of 4 (21.1%). This indicates that LMA is generally more comfortable than ETT, highlighting the importance of effective pain management in clinical practice.

Abstract

Health is a basic need that must be guaranteed by the state as mandated by the 1945 Constitution. The government developed the JKN program through BPJS Kesehatan so that people, including the economically weak, can access health services. RSUD Undata Palu, as a type B referral hospital, faces the challenge of meeting the increasing needs of outpatients. This study aims to analyze the effect of health worker service quality on outpatient BPJS patient satisfaction at RSUD Undata Palu. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design, data was collected from 175 BPJS outpatients using a questionnaire, which was analyzed using validity, reliability, and SEM tests. The results showed that service quality was in the “good” category (mean score 4.22), with the reliability dimension recording the highest score (4.35). The level of patient satisfaction was also rated as “good” (mean score 4.30), with medical services being the best indicator (4.40). SEM analysis showed that service quality had a significant effect on patient satisfaction, with reliability contributing the most (β = 0.35). This study confirms the importance of reliability, responsiveness, and competence of health workers in improving patient satisfaction. RSUD Undata is advised to increase service speed, provide effective communication training, and improve the physical facilities of the hospital. These findings support previous literature and are expected to make theoretical as well as practical contributions to the development of health service quality and the success of the JKN program.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignancy in the head and neck region that is always in the top five among other body part malignancies along with cervical cancer, breast cancer, lymph malignant tumors and skin cancer. The etiology of nasopharyngeal cancer is multifactorial including Epstein barr virus (EBV) infection, environmental such as exposure to carcinogens ( formaldehyde ), wood dust and firewood smoke, smoking, and diet. Other risk factors include age, gender, occupation and socioeconomic status. This study aims to determine the relationship between age and gender on the incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The method applied included an in-depth literature review relevant to the incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The identification process was conducted through online databases such as Google Scholar and Scopus. The results of the analysis showed that ages above 40 years had a higher risk of developing nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In addition, males were also found to be more susceptible to the disease than females. This study underscores the importance of understanding and treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by strengthening early detection programs aimed specifically at at-risk populations, especially individuals over 40 years old and lazy, who are shown to be at higher risk. In addition, it is important to improve public education on the risk factors for NPC, including early symptoms to look out for, so that people are more proactive in getting health checks.

Abstract

Fig plants (Ficus carica) are known to have potential as a source of antioxidants, especially from the polyphenol content found in the leaves, skin, and fruit flesh. This study aims to compare the antioxidant activity of polyphenols in three parts of the fig plant using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) test method to measure free radical inhibition. Extraction was carried out using 96% ethanol, and antioxidant activity was tested at concentrations of less than 100 ppm. The results showed that fig leaves had the highest antioxidant activity with an inhibition percentage of 75.991%, followed by fig flesh at 56.559%, and fig skin at 48.925%. ANOVA test analysis showed significant differences between the three parts of the plant with a significance value of p of 0.004 (<0.05), which confirmed that fig leaves have higher antioxidant potential than the skin and fruit flesh. This study provides useful information for the development of fig-based health products.

Abstract

Anxiety during pregnancy and labor is one of the psychological factors that can affect the labor process , including the duration of labor in Stage II. High anxiety can lead to ineffective uterine contractions , thus prolonging the duration of labor . This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of anxiety in pregnancy women with the duration of labor during stage II at the Bara- Baraya Makassar Health Center in 2024. This study used an observational analytics design with a cross-sectional approach . The research sample was pregnant women who underwent normal labor at the Bara- Baraya Health Center, which was selected using purposive sampling technique . Measurements of anxiety level was carried out with the DASS-42 questionnaire , while data on the duration of labor at stage II was obtained from the patient's medical record . Data analysis was performed using the Likelihood Ratio statistical test . Data analysis showed a relationship between the anxiety level pregnant women and the duration of labor in Stage II. Mothers with a higher level of anxiety trend to experience longer second stage of labor than mother with a lower level of anxiety . Anxiety in pregnant women affects the duration of labor in Stage II. Therefore , effective interventions are needed in the psychological management of pregnant women to reduce anxiety and facilitate the labor process.

Abstract

Preeclampsia remains a significant public health threat in developed and developing countries, contributing to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality globally. The prevalence of preeclampsia in developed countries is 1.3% - 6%, while in other developing countries it is 1.8% - 18%. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterized by an increase in blood pressure (hypertension) that usually appears after 20 weeks of gestation, accompanied by damage to organs such as the kidneys, which can be seen from the presence of protein in the urine (proteinuria). The goal is to find out what are the factors that cause preeclampsia in mothers. This study uses the Systematic Review method in accordance with the PRISMA Guidelines. The focus of the review is determined by keywords, inclusion and exclusion criteria, article search strategies with relevant databases (PubMed, Scince Direct, and Wiley), the article selection process is described in the PRISMA flowchart, Critical Appraisal using CEBM, then data extraction, and presenting the results. There are 106 articles that are removed duplicates which are then selected from titles, abstra to full text. Finally, 11 selected articles that met the inclusion criteria, Nine themes were found in this study, namely Demographic factors, Obstetric History, Health Conditions, Family Health History, ANC Visits, PAPP-P and  β hCG, P53 Gene Changes, Based on Sex, Nonproteinuric and Placenta Location. In this review, an article related to the factors that cause preeclampsia in mothers was obtained, so it is recommended that researchers conduct further research related to preeclampsia management based on the causative factors. This is so that the problem of preeclampsia in mothers can be solved.
