Abstract

Pregnancy often causes various changes in a woman's body , one of which is hemorrhoids , which generally occur in the second and third trimesters . This study aims to analyze the relationship between risk factors such as trimester of pregnancy , defecation position , and constipation with the incidence of hemorrhoids in pregnancy women in Sinjai Regency. The method used is an analytical observational approach with a case-control design at the Restu Ibu Maternity Clinic , with the case group consisting of pregnant women who experienced hemorrhoids and a control group who did not experience them . Data collection was carried out through medical records and direct interviews , and statistical analysis using the Chi- square test . The results showed that constipation had been significant relationship with the incidence of hemorrhoids (p = 0.003), while parity and defecation position factors did not show a significant relationship . This study suggests that constipation management should be the main step in preventing hemorrhoids in pregnancy women , as well as providing important insights for health workers and the community to increase awareness of hemorrhoid prevention during pregnancy .

Abstract

Epilepsy is a non-communicable disease that attacks the brain due to excessive electrical discharge characterized by seizures of all or part of the body accompanied by loss of consciousness. In Indonesia, epilepsy is commonly called ayan or sawan. The number of epilepsy sufferers worldwide is around 50 million and the number in Indonesia is around 1.5-2.4 million. The highest incidence of epilepsy is in those over 50 years of age, which is 28.4 per 100,000 people. The highest mortality rate is in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine emergency nursing care for Mr. A with a medical diagnosis of epilepsy in the emergency room. The method used is the case study method by carrying out nursing care including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation. The study was conducted in the emergency room of Urip Sumoharjo Hospital on Mr. A on June 10, 2024. The results of the study found a nursing diagnosis of ineffective breathing patterns related to neurological disorders (seizure disorders) characterized by dyspnea. Interventions carried out for 1x24 hours, the expectation of breathing patterns improved with the criteria for decreasing dyspnea results. Conclusion, responsive nursing care for epilepsy patients in the emergency room can prevent recurrent seizures, reduce morbidity and mortality due to epilepsy.

Abstract

Background: Constipation is a common digestive problem in children, often caused by dietary factors, lack of physical activity, or emotional stress. If left untreated, constipation can lead to discomfort, abdominal pain, and complications such as fecal impaction. Various management strategies are available, including dietary modifications, increased fluid intake, and physical interventions such as abdominal massage. One of the effective non-pharmacological approaches to managing constipation is the effleurage massage technique, a gentle stroking movement that stimulates intestinal peristalsis and promotes bowel movements. Aims: This study aimed to show the effectiveness of the application of effleurage techniques in children who experience constipation. Methods: The research design used was descriptive with a case study method approach. The case study subjects in this study were two children aged 3-6 years who experienced constipation. Results: This research showed that on the first day, both respondents were unable to defecate. On the second day, both respondents still had not defecated. However, on the third day, respondent 1 was able to defecate, with stool in the form of small, solid balls, while respondent 2 also defecated, with solid and brownish feces. These results indicate that the effleurage massage therapy technique was effective in relieving constipation. Conclusion: Effleurage massage techniques on the abdomen can increase intestinal peristalsis, leading to improved bowel movements and reduced symptoms of constipation. This technique can be considered as a safe, simple, and effective non-pharmacological intervention for managing constipation in children.

Abstract

Ramsay Hunt syndrome as a complication of herpes zoster, mostly occurs in immunocompromised patients. Disruption of the immune system plays a role in the reactivation of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV). After primary varicella infection, VZV remains and is latent in the dorsal sensory ganglion roots. Then, several decades later, this neurotropic virus can reactivate and cause shingles. Ramsay Hunt syndrome is characterized by a triad of facial paralysis, ipsilateral ear pain/otalgia accompanied by facial paralysis, and the appearance of vesicle lesions in the ear according to the dermatome of the facial nerve. The purpose of this study was to determine Ramsay Hunt Syndrome as a complication of Herpes Zoster based on immunity, VZV latency period, age, gender, clinical manifestations, and management. This study used a literature review method with a Narrative Review design. The results obtained 15 journals that included inclusion criteria, namely references in the last 5 years, according to keywords, from scientific journal references, and case report research designs. The results showed that the influence of the immune system plays a major role in the reactivation of VZV, especially in elderly patients because old age causes functional changes in T cells and monocytes that function as a defense against viruses causing VZV reactivation, so Ramsay Hunt syndrome is rarely found in children <6 years. The presence of other risk factors such as a history of malignant lymphoma, HIV infection, history of immunosuppressive therapy, history of chronic disease, history of use of immunosuppressive drugs, or history of habits (consuming alcohol) can be the cause of reactivation of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV).

Abstract

Diabetic ulcer can cause infection and decrease the quality of life of sufferers. In patients with diabetic ulcers, it is not uncommon to ignore the nutrients consumed. Though nutrition is very important. If nutritional needs are not met, it can cause several conditions such as anemia (especially iron deficiency anemia), hypoalbuminemia ( due to lack of protein intake ), and malnutrition. In addition, the lack of nutrition intake also affects the inflammatory process in the wound healing phase of diabetic ulcer which, if it continues, can cause more severe infection to the sepsis stage. This literature review aiming to summarize the latest information related to research on nutrition in diabetes ulcer patients. The method used in this study is Literature Reviews by including research on nutrition in diabetes ulcer patients. The keywords used were “ nutrition, macronutrient, micronutrient, diabetes ulcer, diabetic foot ulcers, and venous ulcers ” on websites Google Scholar, Gale, and Pubmed. Results : The results of 32 journals showed inadequate intake of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats ) and micronutrients ( vitamins) and minerals ) in patients with diabetic ulcer which can inhibit the diabetic wound healing process. Nutrients consumed both macronutrients and micronutrients are each needed by the body because they play an important role as a source of energy and play a role in the wound healing process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational activity on the timely graduation of medical students of the 2020 academic phase at the Muslim University of Indonesia. Medical students must balance academic, organizational, and social life commitments that can affect academic performance and the duration of study. In addition to organizational activity, other factors such as time management, parental support, learning motivation, and academic load also play a role in determining the length of study. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design . The sample consisted of 100 students selected using a purposive sampling method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 89% of students were active in organizations and 65% graduated on time. However, no significant relationship was found between organizational activity and timely graduation with a p value = 0.441 (more than 0.05). This finding suggests that other factors, especially time management and learning motivation, may have a greater influence on students' academic success. Further research is recommended to explore additional variables and expand the number of samples to obtain more comprehensive results.
