Abstract

Carbon emissions encompass all aspects of the economic and social fabric of society, thereby creating negative externalities for the public, necessitating government intervention. Various efforts have been made to curb carbon emissions, including the imposition of a carbon tax. The implementation of a carbon tax in Indonesia is inseparable from the regulations outlined in the Harmonization of Tax Regulation Law, which includes the roadmap for carbon taxation and carbon market development. Policies and plans for the implementation of a carbon tax require comprehensive planning from various determinants, namely factors in implementation, the object of the carbon tax, the sectors subject to it, subjects, rates, collection mechanisms, the timing of carbon tax imposition, reduced emission impacts, and revenue potential determination. The phased implementation strategy of carbon tax policies, building a coalition that supports such policies, precise management of carbon tax revenue, and combining carbon tax policies with other climate-related policies can be a solution for the government to address challenges in the carbon tax policy implementation process.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of underpricing in the stock market from 2020 to 2022, focusing on companies conducting initial public offerings (IPOs). When the IPO price is lower than the secondary market price, the stock price rises following the IPO. The study's goal is to investigate the factors that influence IPO underpricing as well as the function of financial performance as a moderator in the relationship between these factors and underpricing. Ownership structure, company size, and financial leverage are the independent variables. The study's findings show that ownership structure and financial leverage have a significant impact on underpricing, although firm size has little effect. Furthermore, while financial performance can mitigate the impact of ownership structure and financial leverage on underpricing, it does not affect the impact of firm size on underpricing. This research provides insights into the factors contributing to underpricing in IPOs and identifies financial performance as a potential solution to mitigate the effects of these factors. This information can be beneficial for companies and investors in making investment decisions in the stock market.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has resulted in an unprecedented explosion of data, known as Big Data. This phenomenon has influenced various aspects of the economy, including Market Microstructure, which is a highly detailed study of the behavior and structure of financial markets. Big Data has enabled market researchers and practitioners to improve the efficiency of Market Microstructure in an unprecedented way. This study utilizes the literature review method to investigate the role of Big Data in improving Market Microstructure efficiency. The results of the literature review show that Big Data has the potential to change the Market Microstructure landscape in several key ways. First, Big Data enables more sophisticated and real-time market monitoring, allowing for faster and more accurate decision-making. Second, Big Data can be used to analyze larger and more complex market data, which can reveal patterns and trends that were previously difficult to discover. Thirdly, Big Data enables the development of better predictive models to forecast price movements and market liquidity. In addition, the literature review also revealed challenges and issues associated with the use of Big Data in Market Microstructure, including data privacy and security concerns, as well as difficulties in managing and analyzing massive and diverse data. Therefore, the use of Big Data in Market Microstructure requires careful attention to ethical and regulatory aspects. In order to improve the efficiency of the Market Microstructure, Big Data has opened up exciting new opportunities, but also presents challenges that need to be addressed. With the right approach, Big Data can provide valuable insights and improve our understanding of financial market behavior, which in turn can improve market efficiency and benefit stakeholders in the financial markets.

Abstract

The development of communication technology, media, and global infrastructure has an impact on various sectors such as the trade industry, government, social, and political issues. In the trade industry sector, the pattern of business activities has evolved from direct trade to indirect trade through various available marketplace platforms. However, technological developments also make payments easier by utilizing the PayLater feature. Even if you do not have enough money, you can use the paylater feature to purchase the items you want. Based on the convenience offered, another effect is increased consumer behavior, when a person has excessive, irrational need. The data used is primary data collected from questionnaires distributed to Medan LP3I Polytechnic students at the Medan Baru and Medan Marelan campuses. The results show that both partially and simultaneously, the marketplace and paylater variables have no effect on consumptive behavior.
