Abstract

This study analyzes the vertical conflict between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the Indonesian central government in the period 1975-2005, covering the New Order era to the Reformation era. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive methods through observation techniques and library research, this study aims to examine the history of the formation of GAM, the dynamics of the vertical conflict in Aceh, the factors that drove the Acehnese people's desire to break away from Indonesia, and efforts to resolve the conflict to reach a peace agreement. The results of the study indicate that GAM was formed in response to the central government's centralistic policies, exploitation of natural resources, and marginalization of local political and cultural issues, with the conflict going through various phases of escalation until its peak in the Military Operations Area (DOM) period, which was then successfully resolved through international negotiation and mediation by signing the Helsinki Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2005 as a peaceful solution that provides special autonomy for Aceh. Abstract

Di tengah pesatnya arus modernisasi kesehatan yang semakin mengedepankan pendekatan ilmiah dan teknologi, praktik pengobatan tradisional semeumbo mulai terpinggirkan. Semeumbo  adalah metode penyembuhan tradisional yang dilakukan oleh seorang praktisi dengan cara merajah tubuh pasien dan melaksanakan ritual spiritual untuk mengusir makhluk halus atau roh jahat yang diyakini sebagai penyebab penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merevitalisasi praktik Semeumbo sebagai bagian dari kearifan lokal yang memiliki potensi penting dalam melengkapi sistem kesehatan modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografis, melalui wawancara mendalam dengan praktisi semeumbo, tokoh adat, pasien, dan tenaga kesehatan, serta observasi partisipatif pada prosesi penyembuhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Semeumbo  masih memiliki makna sosial dan spiritual yang kuat dalam masyarakat, serta dapat berkontribusi dalam pemulihan psikologis pasien, terutama dalam kasus-kasus yang berkaitan dengan gangguan non-medis seperti kesurupan. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini terletak pada upaya mengintegrasikan Semeumbo ke dalam wacana kesehatan komplementer yang tetap relevan dalam jangka panjang dan membuka peluang untuk penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai efektivitas serta pengembangan standar praktik yang dapat diterima secara luas. Revitalisasi Semeumbo  penting untuk menjaga keberlanjutan warisan budaya dan dapat menjadi alternatif penyembuhan yang harmonis dengan sistem kesehatan modern jika dikelola secara bijaksana.

Abstract

Teut Apam is a tradition that has been practiced for generations by the people of Pidie Regency. In ancient times, this tradition was very Islamic. As time went by, this tradition underwent changes. The aim of this research is to explain the Teut Apam tradition in the village of Beureuleung, Grong Grong District, Pidie. This research also aims to determine the extent to which the Toet Apam culture contributes to socialization and relationships among residents. This research uses a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out through observations, interviews, and relevant literature studies. The results show that Khanduri Apam has an influence on the social life of the community because Khanduri Apam is considered a worship act, especially as a donation; furthermore, the Teut Apam tradition also brings happiness to both those who perform it and those who receive the donations. For the people of Beureuleung Village, the Teut Apam tradition has become a cultural practice that is passed down from generation to generation, and they designate the month of Ra'jab as the month for the implementation of this tradition.Keywords: Traditions;Teot Apam;Culture

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of student satisfaction with the facilities and services provided by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jabal Ghafur University. Facilities such as classrooms, whiteboards, and infocus are important aspects in supporting the teaching and learning process. Academic services are also a major concern for students. The study was conducted using a survey method through questionnaires distributed to students from various departments at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. The results showed that most students were quite satisfied with the facilities available, but there were still some aspects such as the lack of fans that needed to be improved. The service from academic staff was considered good by some students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Recommendations from students were given for improving the study room facilities to make them more comfortable.Keyword: Student Satisfaction, Facilities, Services.

Abstract

Pergerakan kemerdekaan Indonesia tidak hanya ditandai oleh perjuangan para pahlawan laki-laki, tetapi juga melibatkan kontribusi signifikan dari perempuan. Salah satu tokoh perempuan yang paling dikenal dalam konteks ini adalah Raden Ajeng Kartini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran Kartini dalam pergerakan kemerdekaan Indonesia, dengan fokus pada pemikiran dan perjuangannya untuk emansipasi perempuan. Melalui surat-suratnya yang terkenal, Kartini mengungkapkan pandangannya tentang pendidikan, hak-hak perempuan, dan pentingnya kesetaraan gender. Ia berjuang melawan norma-norma patriarki yang membatasi peran perempuan dalam masyarakat, serta mendorong perempuan untuk mendapatkan pendidikan yang layak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis teks dari surat-surat Kartini dan literatur terkait untuk menggali pengaruh pemikirannya terhadap gerakan perempuan dan kemerdekaan Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kartini tidak hanya menjadi simbol perjuangan perempuan, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada kesadaran nasional yang mendorong semangat kemerdekaan. Dengan demikian, peran perempuan dalam pergerakan kemerdekaan Indonesia, yang diwakili oleh Kartini, menjadi penting untuk dipahami dalam konteks sejarah perjuangan bangsa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan baru tentang kontribusi perempuan dalam sejarah Indonesia dan mendorong diskusi lebih lanjut mengenai emansipasi perempuan dalam konteks sosial dan politik.

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the motivation in learning English between boarding and non-boarding school students. It was focus on two types of motivation, namely intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. This study was qualitative in nature with data collection techniques in the form of Likert scale questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The participants consisted of 30 students, 15 boarding school students and 15 non-boarding school students respectively at the junior high school level. The finding showed that boarding school students tended to have higher levels of intrinsic motivation, especially in terms of interest and enjoyment in learning English. In contrast, non-boarding school students were more influenced by extrinsic factors such as encouragement from parents and teachers. Furthermore boarding students felt the boarding environment supported discipline and learning focus, while non-boarding students felt more influence from family and home environment. Thus, different learning environments between boarding and non-boarding schools had an influence on the tendency of students' types of learning motivation in English; boarding students were more driven by intrinsic motivation, while non-boarding students were more affected by extrinsic factors.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate English teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of the Student-Centered Approach (SCA) in English language teaching at the junior high school level. The Student-Centered Approach emphasizes the active role of students in the learning process, encouraging greater student autonomy, creativity, collaboration, and engagement in the classroom. In contrast to traditional teacher-centered methods, SCA shifts the focus from the teacher to the students, allowing them to take responsibility for their own learning. This research employed a qualitative method involving interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. The participants in this study were six English teachers at Sukma Bangsa Pidie Schools, a private School in Aceh, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and themes in the teachers’ responses. The results showed that most teachers had a positive perception of the Student-Centered Approach and had implemented various strategies such as group discussions, project-based learning, student presentations, and interactive games. However, several challenges were also identified, including limited time, lack of teaching resources, large class sizes, and varying levels of student motivation and proficiency. Despite these challenges, the teachers believed that the Student-Centered Approach was effective in increasing student participation and improving language skills. The study suggests the need for continuous professional development to support teachers in applying student-centered practices more effectively.
