Abstract

This study aims to design and test the validity of E-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) based on the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) learning model as an interactive learning medium to improve students' critical thinking skills in static fluid material. This E-LKPD was developed as an alternative teaching material that combines a constructivist approach with the use of digital technology in learning. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, this study was limited to the develop stage, which focused on the validation of the E-LKPD by experts. The validation process was conducted by physics education lecturers from the University of Padang, who assessed the substance of the material, design, learning structure, and the suitability of the E-LKPD with the characteristics of the POE model. The validation results showed that the developed E-LKPD had very good quality with an overall average score of 0.90 and was categorized as valid. Thus, this POE-based E-LKPD is suitable for use as an innovative learning tool that not only supports the mastery of static fluid concepts but also develops students' critical thinking skills in the context of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

A natural or artificial tourist attraction that allows it to be used as part of the learning process in helping educators and students in finding facts, formulating principles or concepts in a physics lesson is called an edupark. Attractions not only offer natural beauty, but also provide a variety of educational information that can support the learning process of students. One of the attractions that can be utilized as an edupark location is the South Solok Songket Tower.  This research aims to  identify physics concepts in the South Solok Songket Tower as a basis for designing a physics edupark enrichment book. The stage carried out is Edupark Finding, where the process of selecting attractions that meet certain criteria such as, have never been used as research objects, are easily accessible, and have physics concepts. Based on this stage, the South Solok Songket Tower was chosen as the edupark location. The next stage is the Direct Observation stage in the form of direct observation to the location to identify physics concepts contained in the Songket Tower tourist attraction. The observation data was then analyzed as a basis for designing edupark-based physics enrichment books. The results of this observation show that there are many physics concepts contained in the songket tower that can be utilized in learning, so that it can be used as a basis for designing a physics edupark enrichment book .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing the critical thinking skills of high school students on the topic of heat and temperature. The background of the study highlights the need for learning models that foster higher-order thinking skills and provide students with opportunities to solve contextual problems. A pre-experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was applied to a class of 29 students from SMA Negeri 2 Ranah Batahan. The instrument used was a critical thinking skill test based on five indicators proposed by Ennis: providing simple explanations, building basic skills, making inferences, providing further clarification, and developing strategies and tactics. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene's test, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, and N-Gain analysis. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' critical thinking abilities across all indicators after the implementation of PBL. The average N-Gain score reached 75.70%, categorized as high. The greatest improvement was observed in the "strategy and tactics" indicator, while the highest posttest score was in the "making inferences" indicator. These findings suggest that the PBL model, supported by interactive learning media, effectively engages students in problem-solving and reflective thinking. The model encourages active involvement, fosters logical reasoning, and improves conceptual understanding. In conclusion, the PBL approach integrated with interactive learning media is a powerful tool in promoting critical thinking in physics education.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low problem-solving abilities of students on sound wave material and the need for more innovative approaches in physics learning. To address this issue, the GISTEM learning model (Guided Inquiry, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) was implemented. The research used a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population consisted of 216 students from six class XI Phase F physics specialization classes at SMAN 13 Garut. The sample was selected using a Cluster Random Sampling technique, with class XI-12 as the experimental group and class XI-11 as the control group, each consisting of 36 students. Problem-solving skills were measured using 10 descriptive test items administered as pretest and posttest. Data analysis involved prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity), t-test hypothesis testing, and calculation of learning gains. The hypothesis test using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05 showed that  (15.56 > 1.67). Therefore, Hₐ was accepted, and H₀ was rejected. These results indicate that the GISTEM learning model significantly affects students’ problem-solving skills on sound wave material. The effectiveness of this model is attributed to its ability to promote independent learning, support conceptual understanding, and encourage the application of knowledge in new contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing electronic assessments of critical thinking skills integrated with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on alternative energy material for phase E students. The research used a quantitative descriptive approach with the 4D model. The research population was 78 students of class X phase E in the 2024/2025 school year at SMAN 10 Padang, with a sample of 39 students selected by random sampling. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, critical thinking skills tests based on Ennis' five indicators, and interviews with physics teachers. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were still relatively low, especially in the basic support indicator (building basic skills) with a percentage of only 1.28%. Learners have difficulty in considering the credibility of sources, observing results, and making appropriate decisions. Meanwhile, learners' sustainability awareness is classified as very high (80-89%), but it is still partial because it only focuses on environmental aspects, not including economic, social and cultural dimensions as demanded by ESD. The interview results show that teachers have implemented critical thinking assessments and technology in learning, but have not optimally integrated ESD and did not include appropriate scoring rubrics. This research identified an urgent need to develop an electronic assessment of ESD-integrated critical thinking skills by utilizing digital platforms such as wizer.me. This assessment is expected to provide a relevant and meaningful context for learners in developing critical thinking skills through sustainability issues, while equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable development that covers all its dimensions.
