Abstract

Lake Maninjau has been developed with the floating net cage (KJA) system for aquaculture. In 2020, the number of KJA decreased by 0,03%, but in 2021, the number of KJA increased by 9,5%; this shows that the cultivator community still maintains the tilapia KJA business. This situation makes the author want to know the investment amount, income, and business. This situation makes the author want to know the investment amount, income, and business feasibility. The method used was a survey, while the respondents were determined deliberately on five KJA cultivators with ten bags and five KJA cultivators with 20 bags. The results showed that the KJA with ten bags had an investment of IDR 626,864,000, an IDR 825,600,000/year income, and an IDR 227,346,334/ year profit. Meanwhile, KJA has 20 bag units, an investment of IDR 1,276,100,000, an income of IDR 1,684,800,000/year, and IDR 490,695,668/ year. Based on the analysis results, the investment criteria were obtained for KJA with 10 RCR bag units (1.38), FRR (36.26), PPC (2.76) and for KJA with 20 RCR bag units (1.41), FRR (38, 45), PPC (2.60). The calculation of the RCR is more than 1, the FRR is greater than the BRI bank interest rate of 6.4%, the PPC is less than the maximum time required, and the economic life of the equipment used for the tilapia KJA business is two years and seven months, then the KJA fish business tilapia worth to run.

Abstract

An artificial habitat comprises a series of structures or attractor media as a habitat for aquatic biota in the waters. This study aims to determine the best attractor media viewed from the abundance of periphyton found in artificial habitats. This research was conducted in July - August 2023 using the experimental method. Periphyton sampling was done four times with an interval of one week and then identified based on the reference identification book. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, brightness, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, nitrate, and phosphate. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using a two-way ANOVA and BNt tests in MS. Excel 2020. The results showed that there were 17 species of periphyton found, consisting of 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (8 species), Zygnematophyceae (4 species), Chlorophyceae (3 species), Cyanophyceae (1 species), and Trebouxiophyceae (1 species). The total abundance of periphyton obtained ranged from 13.448 – 21.406 cells/cm2, and the highest is on plastic bottle attractors ranging from 3.232 – 8.318 cells/cm2. The type of periphyton found mostly was Navicula sp. (6.602 cells/cm2). Based on the periphyton abundance, it can be concluded that the best attractor for periphyton media is the used plastic bottle.

Abstract

The development of seaweed cultivation by farmers cannot be separated from production factors such as capital, seeds, labor, and land area, which greatly support the success of seaweed cultivation. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting seaweed production and how to return to scale. The research was conducted in Pantai Amal Village. The number of samples in the study was 59 seaweed farmers using the incidental sampling method. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis in the form of the Cobb-Douglas function logarithm using the SPSS 26 software. The results showed that simultaneously the capital factors (X1), seeds (X2), labor (X3), and land area (X4) jointly affect the production (sig=0.00). Only the farmer's capital partially showed a significant effect (0.00) smaller than the significance level of = 0.05. The business scale has shown increasing returns to scale with a coefficient value of 1.15, which means that all inputs used in production are increased by 1. The resulting production will be increased by 1, and the resulting production will increase by a more significant proportion, namely 1.15. Thus, seaweed farmers’ use of production factors is efficient.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of local communities towards marine sand mining activities in the Kepulauan Riau Province. Considering the region's dominance, Kepulauan Riau has great potential for sand mining in terms of quality and quantity. The population dynamics and high development today encourage an increased need for sand. Therefore, sand mining businesses have become social, economic, and ecological. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with an interview method with 60 respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to predict perceptions based on social, economic, and ecological variables. The results showed that social aspects (coefficient value of 0.809) strongly influenced the sustainability of mining activities compared to ecological aspects (0.271) and economic aspects (-0.045). This finding shows that if mining activities can create good social conditions in local communities, sand mining activities can continue. However, these social conditions are related to the ecological impacts caused by mining.

Abstract

This research analyses the suitability of permits for using mangrove wood in Karimun Regency for charcoal making, which has been going on for a long time. This charcoal was traded for local and foreign needs even before Indonesian Independence. However, it was only in 2010 that the official IUPHHK-HTR permit was enacted to regulate this activity. This study aims to analyze the suitability of forest area functions in community plantation forest permit areas based on the provisions of forestry laws and regulations, calculate the area of degraded/deforested as well as reforested forest cover using satellite image interpretation results, and identify institutions involved in processing mangrove wood into charcoal. The results showed that 59.55% of the forest area followed the permit, but there was deforestation of 802.29 ha (27%) and degradation of 72.53 ha (32.44%). On the other hand, reforestation efforts of 1,446.32 hectares were also carried out. This research was conducted using normative or doctrinal legal and overlay methods. The methods used in this research consist of normative or doctrinal legal research methods and overlay methods. Normative legal research focuses on the scope of legal conceptions, legal principles, and legal rules governing the suitability of forest area functions and granting social forestry licenses for community plantation forests. At the same time, the overlay method combines information from various maps. Various parties are involved in mangrove charcoal management, ranging from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Kepulauan Riau Provincial Government, Karimun Regency Government, and Wana Jaya Karimun Cooperative to 30 business license holders and charcoal collectors. This research recommends evaluating mangrove IUPHHK-HTR policies to ensure forest sustainability and balance between utilization and sustainability.
