Abstract

The Palu-Donggala earthquake that occurred on September 28, 2018 caused additional disasters in the form of liquefaction and tsunami. The tsunami that hit the coastal area of Palu Bay caused considerable damage, indicating a change in the coastline. The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in the coastline that occurred in Palu Bay, Palu City, Central Sulawesi as a result of the Tsunami. The data used in this study are Sentinel 1 satellite imagery before and after the Tsunami occurred. The coastline at each time is obtained from the extraction of Sentinel 1 satellite imagery. Analysis of shoreline change uses quantitative descriptive techniques with the help of the DSAS tool with change analysis based on the Net Shoreline Movement (NSM) method which is integrated with ArcGIS software. The results show that there has been a significant change in the coastline in Palu Bay, Palu City, Central Sulawesi. Coastline changes that occur are in the form of abrasion and accretion conditions, but are more dominated by abrasion. The highest abrasion of -167.53m is found on transect 309 which is located in the District of Mantikulore, and the lowest abrasion value of -0.43m is found on transect 242 which is located in the Ulujadi District. Meanwhile, the highest accretion value of 47.27m is found on transect 105 which is located in the West Palu District, and the lowest abrasion value of 0.56m is found on transect 68 which is also located in the West Palu District. The magnitude of the change in coastline that occurred in Palu Bay, Palu City, Central Sulawesi after the Tsunami was influenced by the openness of the coastal area to wave blows, the oval and narrow morphology of Palu Bay and the occurrence of ground deformation in the Palu-Koro Fault

Abstract

Artificial live rock is an artificial live rock that is shaped like living rock in nature. Artificial live rock is designed to mimic natural living rock which is capable of being a substrate for corals, a habitat for epibenthic and the biological filter of a saltwater aquarium.  The purpose of this research is to know the technique of making artificial live rock and the development of artificial live rock that are suitable for export on an export scale. The method used in this research is an experimental method with quantitative descriptive analysis. The level of suitability and product standards uses a simultaneous regression coefficient test analysis or the F test.  The manufacture of artificial live rock does not have a special pattern, but artificial live rock is made as attractive as possible and resembles the shape in nature. Product standardization is carried out by using artificial live rock materials consisting of: 1 kg of pumice stone, ½ kg of cement, ½ kg of sand, 500 grams of calcium and 1.5 liters of water. The type of substrate that is good and ideal for algae on the surface of artificial live rock is an area with a bottom of coral sand mixed with coral rubble. Artificial live rock can be harvested for 3 months in water, with the characteristics of the surface of the artificial live rock covered algae which is then cleaned and placed in a treatment pond before being exported

Abstract

Kranji waters have potential fishing grounds for the development of large marine fisheries. Kranji fishermen often face obstacles in their fishing efforts due to a lack of information about the season and potential fishing areas. The oceanographic factor of the waters can be one of the clues to determining a good catch. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of the oceanographic parameters of the fishing area, determine the catch rate and determine the correlation of oceanographic parameters to the catch of ring trawlers. The data used in this study were temperature, salinity, depth, current velocity and catch for 10 fishing trips. Oceanographic parameters in the Kranji fishing area for 10 fishing trips were as follows: temperature ranged from 29.9- 31.8°C, water salinity ranged from 29-31.1‰, water depth ranges from 50-70 m and the current velocity ranges from 0.09to 0.34 m/s. The variability of ring trawl production during 10 times of capture found 5 species caught. The variability and composition of purse seine catches were as follows: Tongkol Walang with a percentage of 54.42%, Tongkol Lorek with a percentage of 38.13%, belo fish with a percentage of 6.37%, juwi with a percentage of 0.53%, and the lowest. the percentage is bagong by 0.52%. The correlation of oceanographic parameters with purse seine catches is as follows: Current velocity has the highest correlation value with a correlation coefficient of 0.814. The temperature has a strong category value with a correlation coefficient of 0.756. Salinity has a negative correlation value with a value of -0.658. Depth has a strong category value with a correlation coefficient value of 0.657.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the rate of shoreline change and the level of abrasion in Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province based on several physical variables in the coastal area. End Point Rate (EPR) is a method that can be used to calculate the rate of shoreline change by displaying transects according to their category (high abrasion, medium abrasion, low abrasion, stable, and accretion). From 1991-2021 there was an abrasion of ±139.71 meters equivalent to ±4.65 m/year which mostly occurred in Sukajadi Village and Pangkalan Jambi Village, while accretion of ±27.51 meters equivalent to ±1.58 m/year mostly occurred in Pakning Asal Village and Sejangat Village. Moderate abrasion is the predominant type. Sukajadi and Pangkalan Jambi are villages that have experienced high levels of abrasion. The area affected by abrasion has moderate and fast currents as well as coastal protection in the form of mangroves, most of which have been damaged and require repairs. Therefore, the main factors causing the abrasion are thought to be the lack of coastal protection and high-speed currents and waves flowing from the Malacca Strait.
