Abstract

Community structure is a concept that studies the composition of species and abundance in a community. This research was conducted in April 2022 in the waters of Tidung Island, Seribu Islands Regency. The purpose by conducting this study was to determine the structure of the bivalve community which includes species, density, relative density, diversity, uniformity, dominance, distribution pattern and index of similarity. The research method used in this study is survey method, were carried out at 3 stations, station determination using purposive sampling method taking into account the anthropogenic conditions in the study area. Based on results, types of bivalves found consisted of 6 species of bivalve. The species most commonly found is Atrina pectinata. The abundance of bivalve obtained ranged from 2.67 – 5.47 ind/m2. The results of the ANOVA test between observation stations obtained the value of sig. <0.05, so it can be concluded that the density of Bivalvia between stations was significantly different, except for stations I and III. The distribution pattern of bivalves in the waters of Tidung Island is in groups. The value of the Diversity Index in the study area is classified as moderate (2.06 – 2.12). The uniformity index value during ranged from 0.80 – 0.82 wich is included in the balanced category. The dominance index between stations is different with a value range of 0.25 – 0.28 which means that no species dominates at each station

Abstract

North African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a food ingredient with high protein content, so it is needed as a source of nutrition. In intensive catfish farming activities, there are constraints on water quality. The high stocking density causes a high value of ammonia. In addition, Nitrobacter, in an intensive aquaculture system, is expected to improve water quality. Especially ammonia, so that it can increase the growth and survival of fish. This study aims to determine the effect of Nitrobacter with different doses on the maintenance of North African catfish. This research was conducted from September to October 2022 at the Aquaculture Environmental Quality Laboratory, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. The research method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) 1 factor with five treatment levels and three replications. The treatment in this research is P0: Dosage Nitrobacter 0 mL/L, P1: Dosage Nitrobacter 0.5 mL/L, P2: 1 mL/L, P3: 1.5 mL/L, and P4: 2 mL/L. Giving Nitrobacter is done once a week according to the dose of each treatment. This research was conducted for 30 days. The research results show that dosing Nitrobacter has different effects on reducing ammonia levels and maintaining North African catfish. The best treatment was P3 1.5 mL/L with the smallest ammonia content of 0.0403 mg/L. a specific growth rate of 0.98%. An absolute growth rate of 0.76 g, an absolute length of 1.06 cm, and a survival rate of 81.4%. The value of water quality during the research was 29-300C, pH 6.5-7.0, and DO 2.9-3.3 mg/L. The value of water quality during the study was good enough to support the survival of North African catfish

Abstract

The development of seaweed cultivation by farmers cannot be separated from production factors such as capital, seeds, labor, and land area, which greatly support the success of seaweed cultivation. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting seaweed production and how to return to scale. The research was conducted in Pantai Amal Village. The number of samples in the study was 59 seaweed farmers using the incidental sampling method. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis in the form of the Cobb-Douglas function logarithm using the SPSS 26 software. The results showed that simultaneously the capital factors (X1), seeds (X2), labor (X3), and land area (X4) jointly affect the production (sig=0.00). Only the farmer's capital partially showed a significant effect (0.00) smaller than the significance level of = 0.05. The business scale has shown increasing returns to scale with a coefficient value of 1.15, which means that all inputs used in production are increased by 1. The resulting production will be increased by 1, and the resulting production will increase by a more significant proportion, namely 1.15. Thus, seaweed farmers’ use of production factors is efficient

Abstract

The existence of coral reef ecosystems in Indonesia is a potential marine resource that needs to be preserved due to the many benefits of the coral reef ecosystem. Utilization of Sentinel-2A imagery for coral reef mapping can be done using two approaches, namely pixel-based and object-based. In this study, pixel-based classification and object-based classification are used to determine the dynamics of the distribution of coral reefs in the waters of Pejarakan Village, Bali, during the dry and rainy seasons. The data used are Sentinel-2A image data for 2018, 2020, and 2022 and field data used for the research accuracy test process. Field data was collected using the purposive sampling method, and the accuracy test process was carried out using the confusion matrix method. The data processing results using pixel and object classification show that classification using the object classification method is considered more accurate than pixel classification because it produces an accuracy value of up to 69.4%. Meanwhile, the pixel classification accuracy value is only 61.1%.
