Abstract

Chromosomal characteristics of catfish Hemibagrus lacustrinus, known as Baung fish, a new species of bagrid catfish from the upriver stream of Batang Sianok, West Sumatra, that recently described by Ng and Kottelat, 2013 was examined from the gills of 5 healthy specimens using general squash method. The result showed that diploid chromosome number of this species was 2n=56. Thekaryotype consisted of 28 metacentric (m), 10 submetacentric (sm), 8 subtelocentric (st) and 10 acrocentric (a) chromosomes. The chromosome formula can be represented as 2n= 28m+ 10sm+ 8st+ 10a. The largest chromosome in this species is a pair of submetacentric chromosomes and the smallest pair is acrocentric chromosomes. The present study is the first report on the karyology of this particular species and helping to support the karyotype data of the genus Hemibagrus. This study will also open for several future studies to explore this species.

Abstract

Analysis of heavy metals content Pb, Cu and Zn in sea water and Oyster (C.cucullata) in Loskala River Estuary has been conducted from July – August 2013.Samples of sea water andOyster (C. cucullata) were taken from five stations withthree replicates at each station. Heavy metals content analysis was carried out inthe KLH Pekanbaru Laboratory by using an Atomic AbsorptionSpectrophotometer Shimadzu AA-7000. The results showed that average haeavymetals content in sea waters were 0,077 μg/L (Pb), 0,045 μg/L (Cu) ), 0,125 μg/L(Zn) and in Oyster (C. cucullata) were 14,454 μg/g (Pb), 103,778 μg/g (Cu) ),111,611 μg/g (Zn) respectively. Simple linear regression analysis indicatespositive correlation between metals contentin sea water and in Oyster (C.cucullata) with Y =12,79+ 21,57X (r = 0,153) Pb ; Y = 8,384 + 2117X (r = 0,437)Cu and Y =93,76 +142,8X (r = 0,432) Zn.Keywords : Heavy Metal, Water, Oyster, Loskala River Estuary

Abstract

The influence of natural feed alternative on the growth of sand goby, Oxyeleotris marmorata (Blkr.), in hapa nets were evaluated in this research. This research purposed to determine shrimp trash and fish trash towards specific growth rate, daily length growth rate and daily feed in take for sand goby. This research was carried out at the Teluk Dalam villages, district of  Indragiri Hilir. Completely randomized design was used in this research with two treatments: fish trash and shrimp trash with three replications. The fish were fed of 30% (wet weight based) of total body weight in two time of feeding (10:00, 14:00 WIB) with ad libitum. The amount of feed was adjusted every 14 days with sampling. Provision ofnatural feed alternative has an influence on the specific growth rate, daily length growth rate and daily feed  in take. The sand goby feeding with fish trash showed better specific growth rate and daily length growth rate than those shrimp trash. Daily feed intake with shrimp trash better than those fish trash. These results indicate that the trash fish have a higher nutrient content than those shrimp trash that used during the study

Abstract

This research was conducted  on August - September 2016 in Teluk Bakau Village area, Malang Village Meeting and Desa Berakit. It’s was aimed  to provide an overview of socioeconomic conditions of society and ecological status, coastal ecosystem conditions, especially seagrass structure and mangrove structures, and threats of coastal ecosystems and the threat of solid waste around marine ecotourism areas in the Trikora Seagrass Conservation Area, Bintan, Riau Islands. The method used by survey methods, socio-economic condition of the community and the ecological status of the Seagrass Conservation Area Trikora, Bintan, Riau Islands support for the development of marine ecotourism. Based on research results The density value of the species and the percentage of seagrass cover of this area ranged between 86.00-301.56 buds / m2 and 45.90% - 101.43%, respectively. Kerapatan mangrove vegetation tree class 583.59 Ind / Ha with vegetation species dominance Rhizophora apiculatadan Bruguiera gymnorrhiza with INP value respectively Rhizophora apiculata dalah 155-157.47% and 46.11 - 106.23%. The threat of coastal ecosystems in this region is mainly pollution, degradation and degradation of coastal ecosystems, and biota degradation. Threats sourced from the development of marine ecotourism areas in the form of hotel, lodging and reseort construction and its facilities, due to the activities of tourists, fishing activities and the local population. Waste on the dominant in this area are materials of plastic type, wood, paper and stairioform; Then other materials such as glass, rubber cans and cloth.

Abstract

The research was conducted from Juni to November 2013 in a Laboratory ofEnvironment Quality Cultivation, Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of RiauUniversity. The purposed of this research was to knew improving the chemicalquality of podsolic red yellow pond bottom soil by a given pool mixed fertilize oforganic quail manure and inorganic fertilizers (Urea, SP 36 and KCl) with differentproportions. The method used in thisexperiment was Randomized CompleteDesign with 6 degrees of treatment with 3 replication. The treatment used in thisexperiment was (without treatment), P1 proportion of 100% organic fertilizer(75,96 g): 0% inorganic fertilizers (0 g; 0 g; 0 g), P2 proportion of 70% organicfertilizer (53,17 g): 30% inorganic fertilizers (0.25 g; 0.04 g; 0.14 g), P3proportion of 50% organic fertilizer (26,59 g): 50% inorganic fertilizers (4.16 g;g; 0,68 2.26 g, P4 proportion of 30% organic fertilizer (7.98 g): 70% inorganicfertilizers (5,82 g; 0.95 g; 3.16 g), P5 proportion0% organic fertilizer (0 g): 100%inorganic fertilizers (8.25 g; g; 4,52 1.36 g). Result showed that the provision oforganic and inorganic mixed with different dose effect to improve the chemicalquality of soil as pH, organic matter, cation exchange capacity and phosphate andwater quality too. Treatment that can provide the best influence on thecharacteristics of the land base of the pond is the proportion of 50% organicfertilizer:50% inorganic fertilizers. Keywords :fertilizer doses, quail manure fertilizer, soil quality, water quality
