Abstract

Indonesia possesses abundant natural and cultural resources supporting sustainable tourism development, including Tangkahan ecotourism and Halal tourism, which require an integrated communication strategy and community participation. This study examines the implementation of the communication strategy by the Langkat Tourism Office through the theories of Communication Strategy and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) to enhance the attractiveness of Tangkahan and raise public awareness of sustainable tourism. This research employs a qualitative case study method with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation, analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity is tested using source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the communication strategy in developing Tangkahan tourism applies the 4A 1P approach, digital promotion, service improvement, and environmental education to strengthen the destination’s competitiveness and support sustainable tourism. The natural beauty, interaction with elephants, and the use of social media are major strengths. However, challenges such as difficult access, geographical conditions, and weather present obstacles, necessitating adaptive, community-based strategies. Positive impacts of this ecotourism include increased community income, job creation, and growing awareness of cultural and environmental preservation. Community involvement in interactions with tourists also reinforces local identity and fosters inclusive and sustainable tourism development. In conclusion, the integrated Islamic communication strategy has successfully developed ecotourism, enhanced the economy, preserved culture, and encouraged community participation in sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

Effective communication by traditional market traders strengthens social relationships, maintains buyer loyalty, reflects Islamic values, and serves as an adaptive strategy to face challenges from the modern and digital market. This study aims to analyze the communication strategies of traditional market traders based on Islamic broadcasting values and their influence on socio-economic interaction and buyer loyalty within a socio-cultural context. This research employs a qualitative case study approach with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that traditional market traders' verbal and nonverbal communication strategies reflect Islamic broadcasting values, strengthen socio-economic relationships, build trust, and enhance buyer loyalty through friendly, ethical, and empathetic approaches. The socio-cultural context plays a crucial role in the communication strategies of traditional market traders, encouraging harmonious cross-cultural adaptation and reinforcing interactions based on Islamic values such as empathy, tolerance, and muamalah ethics (Islamic commercial ethics). Communication strategies grounded in Islamic values, such as friendliness, empathy, and ethics, prove effective in increasing buyer loyalty through emotional bonding, trust, and warm, humane shopping experiences in traditional markets. In conclusion, communication strategies based on Islamic values enhance socio-economic interactions, build loyalty, and adapt culture within multiethnic traditional markets.

Abstract

Digital technology has transformed Islamic da'wah, positioning YouTube as a key platform where effectiveness depends on the quality of religious content, SEO alignment, algorithmic literacy, and audience engagement strategies in contemporary digital society. This study examines the role of algorithmic optimization in reshaping contemporary Islamic da'wah through a qualitative single-case study of the YouTube channel Barakka’na Mangkoso (South Sulawesi, Indonesia). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, digital observation of YouTube content, and analysis of YouTube Analytics documents. Data analysis employed interactive processes of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that algorithmic logic has become constitutive of digital da'wah, fundamentally influencing content structure, pacing, and thematic selection. However, strict ethical guardrails prohibiting deceptive clickbait and transactional promises, combined with deep Bugis cultural rootedness, enable the channel to expand reach dramatically without compromising religious authenticity. The study concludes that effective contemporary da'wah now requires dual competence in religious scholarship and algorithmic literacy, offering a replicable model for other preachers and institutions seeking to amplify authentic Islamic messages in the platformized public sphere. The study concludes that effective digital da'wah requires integrating algorithmic literacy with Islamic scholarship and employing ethical, culturally grounded strategies to expand reach without compromising religious authenticity.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital media has transformed societal communication patterns, while simultaneously giving rise to various forms of deviant content on social media that have the potential to erode religious values, undermine public morality, and challenge the role of Islamic da’wah communication in the digital era. The research gap lies in the limited studies that analyze this phenomenon from the perspective of Islamic da’wah communication, as previous research has primarily focused on legal, psychological, or social media responses. This study examines how Islamic da’wah communication can respond to and counter the proliferation of blood fantasy content in digital spaces. The study aims to analyze this phenomenon and formulate relevant da’wah strategies in the digital era. The methodology employed is a qualitative approach with a case study design, using content documentation, non-participatory netnographic observation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative content analysis and critical discourse analysis. The results indicate that the widespread presence of blood fantasy content on social media reflects weak internalization of religious values, low digital and religious literacy, and the dominance of permissive and hedonistic communication patterns in digital spaces. Such content is not only produced as an individual expression but also gains social legitimacy through user interactions. In this context, Islamic da’wah communication has not yet served as an effective counterbalance to the flow of negative information. This study highlights the importance of preventive, educational, and contextual digital da’wah strategies as a moral counter-narrative

Abstract

The development of Muslim fashion in Indonesia shows that the hijab is no longer understood solely as a religious obligation, but also as a symbol of identity, lifestyle, and a medium for communicating Islamic values. Through its form, motifs, color, and style of wear, the hijab serves as a means of symbolic communication, conveying social, cultural, and da’wah messages. However, academic studies specifically addressing the hijab as a medium for contemporary da’wah through fashion products, especially local brands, remain limited. This study aims to analyze the symbolic communication contained in the Li Scraf hijab with the Arabic Newspaper motif and to examine consumers’ interpretations of these symbols at Li Boutique Berjan Purworejo. The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing semiotic analysis of symbolic communication to examine the visual, textual, and symbolic elements of hijab design. The results indicate that the Li Scraf hijab serves as a medium for contemporary da’wah by integrating spiritual messages, religious values, and modern fashion aesthetics. This study enriches Islamic communication and cultural da’wah studies and offers practical implications for the development of an educational and religiously meaningful Muslim fashion industry.

Abstract

This study investigates internal communication barriers within Muslimat Mathla’ul Anwar (MUSMA) North Sumatra, an Islamic women’s organization devoted to da’wah, education, and social empowerment. The research employs a qualitative case study design, using in-depth interviews and direct observations, with data analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, supported by triangulation. Findings reveal four dominant barriers: vertical communication dominated by top-down information flow; psychological tension reflected in weak emotional bonds; technological limitations marked by low digital literacy and minimal platform optimization; time constraints shaped by members’ external responsibilities and generational differences. These conditions reduce coordination, participation, and organizational responsiveness. The study highlights the need for adaptive, participatory, and empathetic communication practices, strengthened by improved digital literacy and structured feedback mechanisms. The research contributes to organizational communication theory by showing that seniority-based cultural norms in women’s religious organizations intensify technological and structural barriers, requiring communication reforms grounded in socio-cultural rather than purely technical approaches.

Abstract

Effective organizational communication is essential for the smooth operation of school activities; however, challenges arise in utilizing digital media and the quality of interpersonal interactions among teachers in supporting school goals. This study aims to examine the influence of WhatsApp use and teachers’ interpersonal communication, both partially and simultaneously, on the quality of organizational communication at Rahmania Islamic School. A quantitative correlational approach was used, involving 38 respondents via saturated sampling. Hypothesis testing employed t-tests and F-tests. The results show that the t-value for WhatsApp Use exceeds the t-table value of 1.687, indicating a significant influence of WhatsApp Use on the Quality of Organizational Communication. Conversely, the t-value for Teachers’ Interpersonal Communication is less than 1.687, indicating no significant effect on organizational communication quality. However, simultaneously, WhatsApp Use and Teachers’ Interpersonal Communication together have a significant influence on the Quality of Organizational Communication, with an F-value exceeding 2.87. Conclusion: WhatsApp and interpersonal communication enhance the school’s ability to manage information and boost teacher motivation, satisfaction, and loyalty.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has opened new opportunities for Islamic da’wah, including within online gaming environments, allowing young generations to interact and interpret religious messages virtually. This study aims to understand Islamic da’wah practices on Roblox and how young users perceive and disseminate religious messages. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving digital observation, content documentation, and interaction analysis among avatars within the Roblox platform. Findings reveal diverse da’wah activities, such as virtual study sessions, worship simulations, and Islam-themed roleplay communities, which are shared on social media, particularly TikTok, generating high engagement through likes, comments, and shares. Immersive in-game interactions combined with cross-platform dissemination effectively extend the reach of da’wah messages. Positive responses from both youth and parents indicate that adapting traditional da’wah to virtual spaces is effective, establishing a game-based da’wah model relevant to the digital cultures of Generations Z and Alpha. In conclusion, integrating Roblox and social media creates a participatory, effective, and culturally relevant da’wah model for today’s digital youth.

Abstract

This study examines the absence of an integrative da’wah model within the KUKERTA student program that unifies traditional, digital, bil-hal (practical action), participatory, and contextual approaches. The aim of this research is to analyze the integrative da’wah strategies implemented by students in the KUKERTA Al-Mubarak program and to formulate an adaptive and replicable conceptual model. This study employs a qualitative field research design using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, integrated with the Da’wah Process Theory, which includes input, conversion, output, impact, and feedback in a systematic framework. The findings indicate that the integrative da’wah strategy of KUKERTA Al-Mubarak students consists of five complementary approaches implemented across five villages in Gunungkidul. The traditional approach strengthens religious literacy through study circles, Qur’anic recitation improvement (tahsin), and Qur’an learning centers (TPA). The digital approach expands da’wah outreach through podcasts and social media platforms. The bil-hal and participatory strategies enhance community engagement in social and religious activities, while the contextual approach introduces innovations based on local cultural values. The results show increased congregation participation, strengthening of local da’wah cadres, mosque revitalization, and broader dissemination of da’wah messages through digital media, contributing to sustainable socio-religious transformation. In conclusion, the integrative da’wah strategy implemented by KUKERTA students is effective, adaptive, and capable of producing sustainable socio-religious change within the community. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to the development of an integrative da’wah model, the strengthening of the implementation of community service learning (KKN/KUKERTA), and the promotion of innovation in community-based da’wah practices in rural areas.
