Abstract

Forest and land fire disasters in Indonesia have started to become a hot topic of discussion in the last decade. Not only attract domestic attention, international organizations also paid attention to the incidence of this wildfire. The widespread wildfire is considered a serious threat by Indonesia government. This disaster completely has a negative impact on economy, health, environment, social and cultural aspect. Indonesia has received a lot of criticism in its efforts to control the wildfire disaster. Indonesia is required to present the right policy formulation to control this disaster. This study aims to provide policy alternatives that are implementable and effective in controlling wildfire disasters in Indonesia. The dynamic systems modeling approach was used in this study with a mean absolute percentage error of 8.65%. It is predicted that there will be another spike of hotspots in 2023. Suppressive and preventive strategies have been used as leveraging variables in controlling fire disasters. The combination of these two strategies with the dominance of a preventive strategy has proved to be quite effective in controlling the chance of catastrophic forest and land wildfires in the next few years.

Abstract

Solar radiation can be used to produce electrical energy using thermoelectric generators. A thermoelectric generator is a p-type and n-type semiconductor that converts heat to solar radiation into electrical energy. In this study, asphalt road was used as a heat sink to collect solar heat. Asphalt heat will be delivered to the thermoelectric side of the generator using a copper plate. In this study, copper plates were implanted in asphalt with different heights, namely 2 cm, 4 cm, and 6 cm from the asphalt surface. The results showed that the hot side temperature of copper with a depth of 2 cm faster absorbs heat because it is closer to the asphalt surface. When the highest value of solar radiation is 987 W / m at 12:00 p.m., the hot side temperature also experiences the highest temperature of 38.1 ̊C. While the peak temperature found on the plate with a depth of 4 cm is 14.30 at 37.6 .6C, and for the 6 cm depth plate, the peak temperature is 37.9 ̊C at 3:00 p.m. Plates with a depth of 2 cm can produce greater power than those on 4 cm and 6 cm depth plates. This happens because the heat received by the scale is 4 cm deep and 6 cm slower than the plate with a depth of 2 cm. So, leaves with a depth of 2 cm produce greater electrical power at higher plate temperatures.

Abstract

The research using the very low frequency electromagnetic is widely used in field exploration. This is emitted by a transmitter. The data recorded are inphase, quadrature, t-field, and tilt. Inphase is real number. Quadrature is an imaginary number. They are related to each other to present existing anomalies. Both of them are useful for determining the location of an area that has a higher or lower resistivity than the surrounding area. However, the results of data recording are mixed with disturbing signals from around the object. This study aims to analyze how much the disturbing signal in the electromagnetic data recorded in the field. After processing the three points of the object in the field, it is found that the disturbing signals can be reduced by taking some sinusoidal graph results that reflect the stability of the waveform and removing the signal in the form of an irregular graphic display.

Abstract

The number of disabled people in Indonesia is increasing every year from the total population. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2014 showed that more than 2.4 million people have little difficulty walking and/or climb stairs. It is including of more than 600 thousand people that having more difficulty. The use of prostheses is the solution to solve that problem. But the development of prostheses in Indonesia is still very little especially below-knee prostheses. The large variety of sizes and heights of disabilities people cause the prosthesis below the knee cannot be mass-produced. So, prosthetic development that can accommodate the anthropometric range of the Indonesian body is necessary. One of the solutions is the development of a below-knee prosthetic with screw-based adjustable shanks. The system allows changes in the height of the prosthesis with increments of 1.5 mm. The simulation of the design shows that the screw-based shank can withstand 2000N loads. Moreover, the making of models that have done is shows that the design has a manufacturing capability.

Abstract

SS 301 is an austenitic stainless steel which has ductile properties, very high corrosion resistance and non-hardenable. The development of the SS 301 application demands a good combination of corrosion resistance and surface hardness properties. Efforts are needed to increase the surface hardness of the SS 301 by cold working. This research aims to study the effect of shot peening on the surface characteristics of SS 301 after annealing process. The annealing process was carried out at temperatures of 800 ° C, 900 ° C and 1000 ° C. The shot peening process is carried out using alumina particles with a size of 0.8-1 mm for 20 minutes with a pressure of 6-8 bar. The tests carried out are chemical composition, microstructure, hardness and corrosion resistance. The chemical composition result showed that SS 301 contained Cr 18.32%, Ni 7.84%, Mn 1.5% and C 0.31%. The microstructure of SS 301 consists of austenite structure with a semi- dendritic pattern. The annealing and hardening process changed the structure of the austenite into equiaxed and the shot peening resulted in fine austenite grains on the surface. In general, the shot peening process increased hardness but decreased SS 301 corrosion resistance.

Abstract

The process of distributing blood from the proper storage before transfusion requires a cooling unit that is able to maintain the temperature so that the blood can be maintained and not damaged before being transfused. To maintain the chemical and structural composition of the blood, it is done by storing it at a temperature of 2-6 °C and the distribution is carried at a temperature of 2-10 °C with a maximum transit time of 24 hours specifically for whole blood. To answer this problem, this research will test the ability of a box that is used as a container for the blood distribution process using a thermoelectric cooling system. Thermoelectric was chosen for use as a cooler in the blood carrier box because of its small shape so that it can be operated in a limited space and operates at a DC voltage of 12 Volts. Thermoelectric uses a peltier element with type TEC1-12706 with the coefficient of performance (COP) value based on the highest calculation result, namely 0.176. In testing, carried out variations in place, variations in blood temperature and cooling system conditions. which in testing according to the SOP for blood distribution, the blood carrier box is able to maintain a blood temperature of 2-4 °C. So that this initial research can conclude that this blood carrier box can be used to distribute whole blood.

Abstract

Expansion device is an important part of vapor compression cycle refrigeration machine which functions to lower the pressure of the liquid refrigerant coming out of the condenser and regulates the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator flow into the evaporator. In addition to the expansion device, another important thing is the use of refrigerant. A good refrigerant is a refrigerant that has a high latent heat, energy efficient, and also environmentally friendly. So it is important to know the performance of a cooling machine with hydrocarbon refrigerant. From these tests, the COP results of capillary pipes of 1.25 m using HCR-134a of 5.6, 1.5 m capillary pipe of 5.8, 2.7 m capillary pipe of 5.6, and 2.7 m capillary pipe of 5.8, 2.7 m capillary pipe of 5.3, and COP for KET of 5.4. The COP of capillary pipe 1.5 m capillary pipe has the greatest value because the evaporator and condenser pressures are the lowest. The use of HCR-134a increases the COP of the 1.25 m and 1.5 m capillary pipes compared to the use of R-134a, with the use of more efficient electrical power. However, the 2.7 m and KET capillary pipes caused lower COP and higher electrical power.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) To determine the effect of using passive reflectors and coolers on the output power produced by solar modules. The research method used was an experimental method with a true experimental design model, namely in this design there were 2 systems, the first system was treated, the second system was not given treatment. The variations in treatment in this study are as follows; (1) Solar modules without using passive cooling reflectors (2) Solar modules using reflectors and passive cooling. Data were collected for 4 days from (08.00-14.00) with a sample of 50 Wp solar modules. The data collection technique used is literature study, performance and testing documentation. The results showed that the results of the solar panel testing power with 2 variations of treatment, namely; (1) Solar modules without the use of reflectors and passive cooling produce an average power of 47.68 watts (2) Solar modules using reflectors and passive cooling 59.63 watts. The results of this study indicate that solar modules using reflectors and coolers increase the power by 25.07% of solar modules without using reflectors and passive cooling.

Abstract

This study compares the electric power generated by Thermoelectric Generators on three different types of absorbent plates made from metal. The three types of metals are Copper, Aluminum, and Steel. Solar radiation is used to produce electrical energy by using a thermoelectric generator. A thermoelectric generator is a device that converts heat (temperature difference) into electrical energy through the feedback effect. The module used is Thermoelectric type SP 1848. Asphalt is the type of AC-WC with a size of 300 mm x 300 mm x 100 mm. The three plates varied in depth from 2 cm, 4 cm, and 6 cm. At a plate depth of 2 cm, the maximum power for Copper that can be produced is 0.034 W when solar radiation is 887 W / m2. On Copper plates, the total energy is 0.048 W at 2 cm depth. Leaves with a depth of 2 cm are considered better because they produce greater power than plates of 4 cm and 6 cm depth.

Abstract

Produksi minuman dapat terkontaminasi dengan bakteri patogen karena pemrosesan yang tidak higienis. Kondisi bakteriologis dapat ditinjau dari keberadaan Total Coliform. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji Total Colifom yang terdapat pada minuman susu kedelai yang diproduksi oleh Usaha Kecil Menengah (UKM) di Kota Padang. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap lima tempat pengolahan susu kedelai yang terdapat di Kota Padang dengan tiga kali frekuensi pengambilan sampel. Total Coliform dihitung menggunakan Metode Most Probable Number (MPN). Total Coliform berdasarkan SNI 01-3830-1995 tentang Syarat Mutu Susu Kedelai adalah 20 MPN/ml. Analisis keberadaan Total Coliform pada kelima unit Usaha Kecil Menengah di Kota Padang adalah sebagai berikut: 1,54 MPN/ml; 3,60 MPN/ml; 2,74 MPN/ml; 41,11 MPN/ml dan 4,2 MPN/ ml. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat dari lima usaha susu kedelai memenuhi syarat mutu.
