Abstract

Background: Banking employees are commonly exposed to hidden ergonomic hazards resulting from prolonged sitting, repetitive movements, and extensive computer use. These exposures contribute to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and visual fatigue, posing risks to occupational health and productivity. Methods: A community-based intervention was conducted on 4 October 2025 at Bank in Makassar City, involving 20 participants. An andragogical training model was implemented through lectures, discussions, risk identification sessions, and hands-on demonstrations on workstation adjustment and micro-break techniques. Ergonomic complaints were qualitatively identified, and risk factors were mapped based on established ergonomic frameworks. Participants reported prevalent ergonomic-related symptoms, especially low back pain, neck–shoulder discomfort, and visual fatigue. Identified risk factors included static sitting postures, repetitive hand wrist movements, and suboptimal workstation design. The training improved participants' understanding of ergonomic risk factors and introduced practical OSH-based strategies, including workstation redesign, micro-break application, and posture correction. Result: These results align with global evidence on high MSDs prevalence among office and banking workers. Banking employees are at considerable risk of MSDs and visual strain due to prolonged computer use and poor workstation ergonomics. Conclusion: OSH-based ergonomic interventions, particularly engineering and administrative controls, are essential for reducing exposure and protecting worker health. Strengthened management commitment and ongoing ergonomic training are key to sustaining safe, productive banking environments.

Abstract

Background: Integrated primary care (IPC) is recognized as essential for strengthening health systems. However, Indonesia currently lacks a validated instrument to assess stakeholder support, which is a critical determinant of successful IPC implementation. This study evaluated the content validity, internal structure, and reliability of the newly developed Stakeholder Support Questionnaire for Integrated Primary Care (SSQ-IPC), grounded in Freeman’s Stakeholder Theory. Methods: A cross-sectional psychometric validation was conducted with 570 primary healthcare nurses recruited through stratified random sampling across Indonesia. The initial 18-item instrument, encompassing four constructs, underwent content validation by a panel of seven experts. Data analysis included calculating the Content Validity Index (CVI), conducting exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and second-order CFA. Model fit was assessed using multiple fit indices, while construct validity and reliability were evaluated through factor loadings, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Cronbach’s alpha, and McDonald’s omega. Results: EFA supported a four-factor structure. First-order CFA indicated acceptable model fit (CFI = 0.933, TLI = 0.921, SRMR = 0.037), with all factor loadings statistically significant (p<.001) and strong indicator reliability. Convergent validity was established with AVE values ranging from 0.650 to 0.869, and internal consistency was high across constructs (α= 0.877–0.978; ω = 0.884–0.973). Second-order CFA supported a hierarchical model, with all four constructs significantly loading onto a higher-order factor. Conclusion: The SSQ-IPC demonstrates strong evidence of validity and reliability, supporting its multidimensional and hierarchical structure. This instrument provides a robust tool for research and practice, facilitating.

Abstract

Background: The musculoskeletal system plays a crucial role in movement and balance, which are coordinated with the nervous system. Therefore, muscle strength has both physiological and clinical implications. Furthermore, the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, undergoes developmental stages with age. Consequently, significant differences in the musculoskeletal system between children and adults are evident. This affects differences in muscle strength measurements, particularly those related to the tools used, which, in turn, influence anthropometric measurements. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design involving 70 child respondents aged 6–12 years to evaluate the extent to which the developed tool produces consistent measurements of left and right hands through bilateral correlation, using a simple hand muscle strength measurement tool that can be effectively used in the pediatric population. Evaluation measurement uses the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Result: The reliability test using the ICC with a two-way mixed model and absolute agreement type showed that measurements at the 7 cm position demonstrated good reliability, with a single-measure ICC of 0.774 and an average-measure ICC of 0.872.2. The measurements at the 8 cm position demonstrated higher reliability, with a single-measure ICC of 0.870 (95% CI: 0.797–0.918), which is considered good, and an average-measure ICC of 0.931 (95% CI: 0.887–0.957), which is considered very good. Furthermore, the Cronbach's Alpha value for the 8 cm measurement (0.933) was also higher than for the 7 cm measurement (0.879). Conclusion: This research concludes that measuring hand muscle strength at the 8 cm position demonstrates greater consistency and reliability than at the 7 cm position, and is therefore recommended for use as a measurement method in research and clinical practice.

Abstract

Background: Children with thalassemia require lifelong, repeated blood transfusions, which frequently induce anxiety due to invasive procedures and unfamiliar clinical settings. If left unaddressed, anxiety can compromise treatment adherence and adversely impact psychological well-being. The present study investigates the effectiveness of play therapy in reducing anxiety among children with thalassemia undergoing blood transfusion. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was used at Pringsewu Regional Hospital. A total of 26 children were recruited using a total sampling approach. The intervention consisted of coloring-based play therapy administered for 20–30 minutes prior to transfusion. Anxiety levels were measured using a standardized child anxiety questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Result: Anxiety levels dropped significantly after the intervention. The median (IQR) anxiety score went from 40.42 before play therapy to 15.65 after. The difference between pretest and posttest scores was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Play therapy reduced anxiety in the participants. Conclusion: Play therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety in children with thalassemia undergoing blood transfusion. Its implementation may support pediatric nursing care by improving emotional comfort and facilitating smoother treatment procedures.

Abstract

Depression and loneliness are prevalent mental health concerns among adolescents and young adults and may increase the risk of suicidal ideation. Adolescence and early adulthood represent transitional developmental stages characterized by various psychosocial demands, which may heighten vulnerability to emotional distress. This study aimed to examine the relationship between depression, loneliness, and suicidal ideation among adolescents and young adults. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population consisted of 462 individuals, from which 215 respondents were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-42) to measure depression levels, the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 to assess loneliness, and the MINI Plus 5.0.0 to identify suicidal ideation. Data were analysed using Spearman’s rank-order correlation test. The results revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between depression and suicidal ideation (r = 0.376; p = 0.01), indicating a weak to moderate association. In contrast, loneliness was not significantly correlated with suicidal ideation (r = 0.10; p = 0.10). These findings suggest that depression plays a more substantial role in the emergence of suicidal ideation than loneliness. Therefore, suicide prevention strategies targeting adolescents and young adults should prioritize the early identification and management of depression while also strengthening psychosocial protective factors.

Abstract

Background: Insufficient knowledge of reproductive health among female adolescents contributes to inadequate prevention and early detection of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer frequently develops in early adulthood, despite being preventable through the timely administration of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. This study evaluates the effectiveness of health education media in improving female adolescents' knowledge and attitudes toward the HPV vaccine. Methods: A quasi-experimental quantitative design with a pretest- posttest control group was employed. The sample consisted of 66 participants selected via probability sampling with stratified sampling. Result: Statistical analysis indicated that both the engklek and crossword puzzle intervention groups demonstrated significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes following the intervention (p < 0.05), while the control group showed no significant changes (p < 0.05). One-way ANOVA revealed significant differences in knowledge and attitudes among the engklek, crossword, and control groups (p = 0.000). Post hoc and N-gain analyses indicated that crossword puzzles were the most effective in enhancing adolescents’ knowledge. Conclusion: Crossword puzzle media can serve as an effective tool for disseminating information about the HPV vaccine. Enhanced dissemination is anticipated to increase HPV vaccine coverage and reduce cervical cancer risk.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic ulcers are a long-standing problem of diabetes mellitus; in most cases, healing is challenging because of hyperglycemia, vasculopathy, or infection. The objective of this trial is to compare the therapeutic efficacy of a combination of modern dressings, infrared therapy, and ozone treatment with that of the conventional method in diabetic wounds. Methods: In terms of research design, a non-equivalent pretest-posttest quasi-experimental one-group/three-stage comparison was utilized. The sample included 30 participants, divided into two groups: 15 in the intervention group (modern dressing combined with infrared and ozone) and the rest in the control group receiving only modern dressing. Wound closure was assessed by the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool (BJAWT). The Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests were used for statistical analysis. Results: The difference was significant in the intervention group but not in the control group. The between-group difference was also significant, with a medium effect size (0.715). The combined use of therapy exerted a synergistic effect, attributed to the preservation of wound moisture, the improvement of tissue perfusion and oxygenation, as well as a decline in bacterial count. Conclusion: It was suggested that integrating modern dressings, infrared, and ozone approaches can significantly promote tissue re-regulation in diabetic ulcer patients and should be considered a supplement therapy in wound nursing decisions.

Abstract

Background: Stroke continues to be a leading cause of mortality and long- term disability, especially in low- and middle-income countries where hypertension is both highly prevalent and frequently inadequately managed. Behavioral modification is essential for reducing stroke risk; however, the association between knowledge and preventive practices in rural primary care settings has not been sufficiently examined within a theoretical framework. This study analyzed the relationship between knowledge of stroke risk factors and stroke prevention behaviors among hypertensive patients at a rural Indonesian primary healthcare center, utilizing the Health Belief Model. Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted with 120 hypertensive patients participating in a chronic disease management program. Knowledge and preventive behaviors were measured using structured questionnaires adapted from validated instruments with established reliability. Data analysis employed Spearman’s rank correlation and partial correlation, controlling for age and education. Results: Results demonstrated a significant positive association between knowledge and stroke prevention behaviors (r = 0.710, p = 0.001), indicating a strong correlation. After adjustment, the association remained significant (r = 0.648, p = 0.004), reflecting a moderate-to-strong relationship. Conclusion: These results indicate that enhancing theory-informed educational strategies in primary care may improve stroke prevention efforts among hypertensive patients in rural areas.
