Abstract

UD. Farah is a well-known trading business in Situbondo that specializes in producing highly sought-after fresh seafood chips called "Ikan Kunir". However, the production capacity is still low due to the use of traditional equipment in the kitchen. To address this, the development of technology using a Rocket Stove is necessary. The Rocket Stove design allows for high-temperature wood combustion, resulting in complete combustion, increased heat energy, and smoke-free operation. It is also more fuel-efficient compared to open fire, saving up to 50% fuel. Furthermore, the current kitchen conditions lack attention to health and safety aspects, leading to smoke-filled, messy, dirty, and dark environments. To improve air circulation and increase production efficiency, a Turbine Ventilator will be installed in the combustion area. This applied research focuses on designing and innovating energy-efficient Rocket Stove technology and utilizing a Turbine Ventilator to enhance the production efficiency of Ikan Kunir chips in terms of time, cost, and energy. The breakthrough aims to improve user health by achieving complete combustion and reducing smoke emissions. The goal of this activity is to address the business partner's challenges, particularly in increasing product capacity and improving occupational health and safety management.

Abstract

The snack business is a very promising business idea in Indonesia because Indonesian people from all walks of life like snacks. The snack food industry is one of the various supporting factors for the Indonesian economy. However, the process of refining oil from food still requires a lot of time. Using an oil-slicing machine on cassava chips automatically will save the use of human labor in the process of closing fried cassava chips to the manual oil separation process. This machine uses the principle of automatic work. With this tool, the oil-draining process becomes very effective. The process of the oil slicing machine on cassava chips automatically starts from the entry of the chips with the movement of the basket actuator from the fryer, then the machine continues to run at once from the process of driving the motor to life, the slicing process, until the spinner actuator stops automatically. The automatic process on this machine uses an AC motor, limit switch, and timer. The test results were very stable on the use of a spinner motor, and the best results were for filling oil for 43 seconds with a heavy load of 3 kg of cassava chips using a timer that had accurate calculations.

Abstract

Areca nut is classified as a grain that is widely distributed in several areas, especially Riau, especially in the Indragiri Hilir area as the largest betel nut producer in Indonesia. Peeling betel nut skin using a machine is easier and faster than manually peeling betel nut, based on that I am very interested in making a "Design of Areca Peeler". Furthermore, the betel nut peeler machine is planned to be able to accommodate areca nut with a capacity of 2.5 kg with a motor power of 3/4 HP. Based on the problems above, it is necessary to design a semi-mechanical dried betel nut peeler that can still be operated using human power. This betel nut peeler machine uses a blade that is placed horizontally and a slam net as a tool for stripping the betel nut method, which is inserted from the top hooper and then into the slamming net, then peeled by the slashing eye and the peeled betel nut comes out of the net that has been adjusted to the size of the betel nut. areca nut size and then down to the sloping part of the thin plate to separate the fruit and betel rind. In 3 experiments carried out from each load given the maximum dry betel nut stripping with a motor speed of 2793 RPM.

Abstract

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines have become an important part of various industries, including manufacturing and the arts. One of the important applications of CNC machines is engraving on acrylic materials, which are used to create high-quality detailed products. However, many 3-axis CNC machine control systems are expensive and complex, making them out of reach for many users. Therefore, this study aims to develop a more efficient and affordable 3-axis CNC acrylic engraving control system based on a PC using the Arduino. In previous studies, many studies have been carried out related to CNC machine control systems. Several studies have focused on developing PID control to improve the accuracy of CNC machine movements, while other studies have attempted to integrate the Arduino platform as the brain of a more effective control system. However, the research does not fully focus on the use of acrylic materials and does not provide integration with PCs as a user interface. The design of this system begins with selecting the right electronic components for the control system, including the Arduino as the main microcontroller, motor drive and the necessary sensors. In addition, the application's notebook-based user interface is designed to allow users to enter designs for direct engraving into the system. The use of PID control is optimized to ensure precise and precise CNC machine movement. This research produces a 3-axis acrylic CNC engraving machine control system on a PC using an Arduino. This system can control the movement of the CNC machine in three dimensions (X, Y and Z) with high precision. The application's user interface allows users to easily import designs for engraving. The final result data is the quality construction of the acrylic material, including the level of precision and detail engraved by the CNC machine.

Abstract

Measuring temperature using a data logger is a suitable choice for temperature measurements of an object. The availability of Arduino as a microcontroller has become a preference for developments, especially in temperature measurement devices. One temperature sensor that has good accuracy is the Adafruit MAX31856. This research aims to design a low-cost temperature data logger. The method used in this research is the design and build method. The results of this research show that the temperature data logger works well. This is indicated by the close correlation of the measurement results from each sensor. This applies to measurements of heated water as well as water taken from the dispenser.

Abstract

Centrifugal pumps are one type of pump commonly used in the industry, particularly in the processing and distribution of clean water. The characteristics of these pumps can be determined by varying the flow rate at a certain height. A study was conducted to investigate the effects of three different pump heights (3.5 m, 4.5 m, and 5.5 m) on the efficiency of a centrifugal pump using water at a temperature of 31℃. The results showed that the maximum overall efficiency was obtained at a height of 4.5 m with a value of 33.22% and a total head of 23.39 m. The pump height was found to have an impact on the pump capacity, with higher pump positions resulting in an increased occurrence of cavitation bubbles in the suction pipe, leading to a decrease in pump performance. Therefore, the placement of centrifugal pumps should be carefully considered, taking into account factors such as height and distance of the suction pipe, to minimize cavitation and achieve optimal pump performance.

Abstract

The development of renewable energy is a necessity in order to reduce the consumption of fossil energy. One of the alternative technologies to obtain sustainable energy resources is to use a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH). In order to obtain high-efficiency power, it is necessary to analyze the maximum head and discharge values. In this study, an analysis of variations in the design of the penstock pipe from the forebay was carried out to obtain the highest velocity value for rotating the water turbine. The method used in this research is a simulation using ANSYS Fluent software. Based on the results obtained, the highest velocity values were obtained for penstock numbers 2 and 4. Pipe elevation causes the flow velocity to increase smoothly. The branching at the inlet does not affect the velocity value but increases the possibility of a vortex which is detrimental to the flow leading to the turbine.

Abstract

To support the rapid development of industry at this time, especially in the machinery industry, it has also spurred the development of technology for making basic materials such as steel. ST 37 steel is steel produced for making various machinery components. To improve the mechanical properties of ST 37 steel, a heat treatment process is applied. To see the service life of steel, it is also necessary to pay attention to the rate of corrosion that will occur in the steel that will be used in machine components. The aim of this research is to determine the use of the right type of electrode and current strength to achieve its effective use, with the criteria that the steel has tensile strength when a tensile reaction occurs in the steel and the steel has good corrosion resistance. In this study, the electrode variations used were AWS E6010, E6013, and E7016 electrodes, with variations in current strength of 70 A, 85 A, and 110 A. The highest tensile strength values ​​during the drawing process occurred in specimens with strong AWS E7016 electrode variations. The current was 110 A. Meanwhile, the lowest tensile strength occurred in the specimen with the AWS E6013 electrode variation with a current strength of 70 A. The highest corrosion rate value occurred in the AWS E6010 electrode variation specimen with a current strength of 70 A, while the lowest corrosion rate occurred in the specimen. with AWS E7016 electrode variations with a current strength of 110 A.

Abstract

Dry coffee processing greatly affects the quality of the coffee produced. The obstacle faced in coffee processing is that the time and energy required are still too large. In addition, the results of the peeling capacity of dry coffee skins are not good because they are too slow. Drying is very important in coffee processing, without good drying the quality of the coffee beans will not be maximized. Based on the description of the problem, the application of the Smart Coffee Dry-Huller Machine technology aims to automatically peel and dry coffee beans which are environmentally friendly at an affordable cost for coffee farmers as well as hygienic coffee beans. The method used in designing the tool is by going through the pre-production stage, the production stage and the post-production stage. The energy potential used in the huller is 2,04 watts in standby mode, 47 watts in low mode, 52 watts in medium mode, and 55 watts in high mode, while the energy potential in the dryer is 357 watts and can reduce the water content by 10%/hour by maximum temperature of 53,9oC.

Abstract

Natural fibers have weaknesses, including lower mechanical properties than synthetic fibers, and higher water absorption. The impact test is a mechanical test which aims to measure the resistance of materials to shock loads. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using hybrid fibers on impact strength. This research uses impact testing with the Charpy method. Results: The highest breaking strength value was found in the volume fraction of hemp fiber and 15% synthetic fiber of 3.98885 J, and the highest impact value was found in the volume fraction of 15% hemp fiber: 5% synthetic fiber of 31.53 KJ/m². The conclusion from the tests that have been carried out can be concluded that the more fibers used, the higher the fracture strength and impact value.
